I agree with F on what he says about direct camera connection. You could try a card reader, but that message "The folder could not be found" suggests something going on with your Destination panel choice - and hence F's two-step process as a diagnostic step.

How about F. McLion's suggestion to copy the images from the card to your hard drive before doing the import, Thomas? After you do the copy, then in the Import dialog choose the location you copied to in the Source panel and choose Add in the top center instead of Copy. Are you using a card reader, is your card plugged directly into your computer, or have you connected your camera to your computer?

Where are you trying to sign in, Joey - in Lightroom Desktop or in the mobile app on your mobile device? If in Desktop, what shows in the Lightroom mobile tab in Lightroom>Preferences? Does that show you signed in? If you're signed in, try checking the sync box to the left of a collection. Is there a message above the identity plate in the top left that the photos are syncing? For once you get signed in, here's a video tutorial on how to get started with Lightroom mobile.

Welcome to the forum, Ron. When/where are you getting this error? If it's after you click on Import and are waiting for the photos to import, make sure that the destination folder - where you are importing the photos to, set in the Destination panel - is not set to Read Only. Go out to Finder or Windows Explorer/My Computer, right-click on the folder and choose Properties. It should say "Read and Write". If this is OK, try manually copying the files into a folder on your hard drive, select that folder as the Source on the left side of the Import dialog and Add in the top center instead of Copy so that LR will leave them there upon import. Hi linnyjo, I'm not sure I know the answer to this, but try this: go outside of Lightroom to the folder where these files are (an easy way to get there is to right-click on one of these images in Lightroom and choose Show in Finder or Show in Explorer. Then out there see if the folder is set to Read Only or Read and Write - right-click on the folder and choose Properties on Windows or Get Info on Mac. If it's set to Read Only, change it to Read and Write and then try your delete again.

Note that what you read is still true going in the opposite direction - when you sync photos from Lightroom desktop to Lightroom mobile, it is only small compressed raw files ("smart previews") that are synced up to the cloud and down to your mobile device.

It would be most straightforward to let them sync and then delete them. However, if you did any work on these photos in Lightroom mobile, then it will be the copies that are syncing that you'll want to keep, not the ones from your One Drive. If you want to stop them from syncing, however, then delete them from Lightroom Photos on your mobile device. Photos that have already uploaded to the cloud, however, will still sync. The only way to delete these before they arrive on your computer is to go, in Lightroom desktop, into Preferences, and on the Lightroom mobile tab, Delete All Data. This will delete all that is in the cloud - the photos you're referring to, but also all that you have synced from Lightroom desktop to your mobile device. (They will be resynced, however.) In the future, either don't import the images into Lightroom mobile, or don't import copies from your One Drive into Lightroom desktop. One of the strengths of Lightroom mobile is that all that is imported into it will automatically arrive in Lightroom desktop.

Another option in the Print module is the identity plate. This can be customized with your choice of font, color, size and placement - but you can only have one per print job so you can't vary it by image if you're printing more than one image at a time. If you wanted it on your image you could use the watermark function.

You're welcome, Michael. An alternative to going back to Lightroom mobile to remove the photos is to remove them in Lightroom desktop from the All Synced Photographs collection (in the Catalog panel) - then they won't sync to Lightroom mobile anymore. You can give Adobe feedback on this page.

Hi Michael, Once your photos are in Lightroom mobile, you can delete them from Photos. This article of mine explains the process. Hopefully keywording will come. Regarding your comment that you need to create a collection to find your stuff on the desktop: photos will show up in the Folders panel - by default in a separate iPad section / database, but they can be dragged elsewhere. You can also go to the Lightroom mobile tab in Preferences (Lightroom>Preferences on Mac, Edit>Preferences on PC) and change the default location. You can export up to 2560 pixels. Watch the video tutorial that I linked to in my last comment for details on creating and managing smart previews. I don't know of Time Machine tutorials, but to add your external drive(s), click on the clock in the task bar, then Open Time Machine Preferences, then click on Options.

I would suggest sticking with just one catalog, or possibly one for your personal work and one for your pro work if you want to keep them separate. While you're editing, keep the photos on your internal drive, then use the Folders panel to drag them to your external when you're done. If your outdoor photos take up too much space on your internal and you want to always be able to edit them, then build smart previews for them and move them to the external - this way you can edit without the external. Regarding backups, I'd recommend getting away from manually copying - use a backup program. Time Machine can be set to back up both your internal and external drives. You can also set up multiple TM backup jobs so that you regularly are backing up to two drives for greater redundancy. Carbon Copy Cloner is another backup program option. Then look at an online backup service, such as Backblaze or Crashplan, so that you are protected from fire, theft, etc. - it takes a long time for the first backup to upload, but from then on you have more peace of mind.

Hi, I hear you when you say you have been doing the same thing for a long time and are experienced, but regarding problem #1, I'll ask this anyway just in case - is there any chance that you renamed the files the first time around? Lightroom won't detect as duplicates files that have different names. Regarding #2, in Mac Finder or Windows Explorer, are the file creation dates correct? If so, in LR, try going in the menu bar to Metadata>Edit Capture Time and just hitting OK without making any changes - does that correct it? If so, select all your videos from affected imports and do this.

Hi Jim! Rather than "this will add them to your folder tree", I think you mean "this will take you to the folder that these photos reside in" - they are already in the folder tree just by virtue of having been imported.

Hi Jessica, can you clarify this for me? Are you manually copying your images from your memory card / camera to your computer before you open Lightroom, and then importing into Lightroom, or in Lightroom's Import dialog do you select your memory card and have Lightroom automatically copy them to your computer and import them into Lightroom? It's not clear to me whether you only manually copied 3/26 to your computer, or whether you imported them into LR as well. If the latter, and if choosing Previous Import in the Catalog panel in the top left in the Library module doesn't take you to them, you can either go directly to the Folders panel and look for the shoot, or you can do a filter by date to find all photos with that date: choose All Photographs in the Catalog panel, go to Grid view (G), click on Metadata in the center above the grid, and in the first column choose Date from the dropdown and drill down to 3/26. If you don't see that date listed, then these photos have not been imported into LR (or your camera's date isn't set correctly.) When you're done viewing photos from this date, to turn the filter off click on "All Dates" at the top of the list of dates and then above that next to Metadata click on None.

If you're seeing your fix circle but not the source circle, then the source is probably outside of the portion of the photo that you are viewing. If you're zoomed in, use the Navigator panel to either zoom out or move elsewhere in your photo. If you're not zoomed in and if you have cropped the photo, there's a small chance that the source is in a portion that is cropped off. If you move your cursor away from the fix and outside of the image into the gray surrounding it, you may see that the cursor changes to a hand tool. If so you can grab the source circle (even though you can't see it) and drag it somewhere else. The other option is to undo your crop until you have done your healing and cloning. If you are seeing no circles or pins, then they are hidden. Type H to reveal them, or in the toolbar below your photo change Show Edit Pins to Auto or Always. (I like Auto because they display when my cursor is in the photo and hide when I move my cursor out of the photo.)

I have checked, Andrew, and I don't see a convenient way to do this. Oddly enough I found that when I first opened LR and started assigning faces to a specific name, LR would use the most recently assigned face as the cover - until I had assigned 5 or 6, at which time it would become frozen. Closing LR and reopening it would then free it up again. If you have assigned all faces to the one that's bothersome, you could try taking the name off of a better version and then reassigning it - possibly after restarting.

Hi Lynne, this is unfortunately a huge topic. Here's what I'd suggest for an easy approach to printing with an online service, keeping in mind the quality error that you are getting and assuming you're sending to a consumer lab (not a pro lab). There's no need to crop first if your online service allows you to choose the size and crop online - most do. Export specs: - color space: sRGB - file type: JPEG - Quality: 92 - uncheck Resize to Fit. As wobertc suggests, this will export a full size file and then your printing service will either enlarge it or reduce it in size as needed. If you still get messages from your printing service that the quality is poor and can't be printed (meaning your file is too small) then there's nothing you can do except print smaller - you either made a very small crop of a larger photo and don't have many pixels to work with, or you are printing really large. Here's an article I wrote to help users figure out how large they can print, given how many pixels their photos have. - With Resize to Fit unchecked (or when specifying a size in pixels), Resolution (PPI) has no effect at all - any number will do. (Here's an article on when resolution matters and when it doesn't.) Regarding printing on your own using the Print module, for resolution use the native resolution of your printer - my Epson 3880 prints at 360, for example, so I use that. To get good quality prints though, there's so much else to cover that just can't be here, such as profiles and color management. While I didn't reply to this post to promote myself, for what it's worth, all of these topics are covered in depth in my Lightroom: Producing Great Output video series. It doesn't provide quick answers though - it provides in-depth training. I also offer private online sessions.
