Try deleting your Library/Application Support/ Adobe / After Effects CC folder and then updating. Try setting the permissions for both your user and system library AE folder to read write for everyone. I ran the upgrade to 10.9.3 on my Mac mini after reading all of the precautions and repairs. Dave... I missed the Latest reply link, but it is still two clicks away from the thread title in the Forum home page. Thanks for pointing it out. The latest reply is where you used to go with you opened a thread and it's still where you should go. The nav buttons on the right side of the page are useless if there are more than 3 pages. There should at least be a first and last button. What I'm looking for on the breadcrumbs is what John posted but at the bottom. Home and Back won't take you from The after Effects Forum to the Communities. or back to the first page of the discussions thread if you are on page 2 or 3, are not available on a mobile device or on most laptops. Again, this is just poor forum design and requires just a line of copied code to implement. Nothing to it. Also, while I'm ranting, you can find the unread posts in any forum by clicking Content and then Discussions from the Forum home page but if you set a bookmark and come back after some of the content has changed you are not brought back to the Content>All Content section requiring another click to get you to a place where you can see the content that you have not read yet.  Come to think of it, what purpose does the All Content tab serve. It's identical to the Discussions tab except that you can't tell which threads you have read, or who was the last person to post, or anything else useful. All Content should go away and unread threads should show up on the forum home page. I don't write scripts that do this because the features are already available with Expression Controls and expressions. That's the route I would suggest. You are reinventing the wheel. If you want specific help on scripting then try asking some questions in the scripting sub forum for AE. You'll find the forum under sub communities. If you just want to create a slider for opacity that you can add to any layer you select first add an expression control slider to the layer, then press t to reveal the opacity property, then hold down the Alt/Option key and click on the stopwatch to start and expression, then drag the pickwhip to the slider control. Now, with transparency selected select Animation>Save Animation Preset and give it a name. Now when you need a slider to control a layer, or to control a bunch of layers simply select them and apply your preset. You could also put your expression control slider on a null, give the name a null, apply the expression to a layer and then save the transparency property as an animation preset. Now if you have 50 layers you want to control with a single slider just add the null, change the name, then select all 50 layers and apply your animation preset. I have a library of about 200 custom animation presets that use expressions to do most of my repetitive  tasks. It saves a ton of time. The text layer must either have all text selected with the text tool or the layer must be selected in the timeline with the selection tool to change the font color in the Character Pannel. I did exactly what you said and it is exactly consistent. Try putting your keyframes at 0, 1, 10, 11 and see what happens. It gets confusing because of the duplicate keyframes one frame apart. Try putting in 4 different values. It took me a long time to wrap my head around looping. ... View more

You are making an incorrect assumption about the loop function. Try this. Frame 0, X=500, frame 10, X=0 then add the loopOut("cycle") expression. There's no need to put in a number if you are not limiting the number of keyframes in the loop. The confusion about this loop comes at frame 11. You expect the loop to jump to the keyframe value at frame 0, but it jumps to the keyframe value at frame 1 because the loop is based on time, not position. This is important. It explains everything. Frame 1 and 11 and frame 2 and 12 and so on up to frame 10 and 20 will be the same, but the layer will never reach the same value it has at frame 0 because frame zero only happens once in the loop. The loop will always be from the from the time of the first keyframe to the time of the last keyframe. To reach the same value as the first keyframe you would have to add 1 frame to each loop cycle. If you want to have the layer move from 0 to 500 and loop from 0 to 500 you need to add another keyframe at frame 11 with a value of 0. and then start your comp at frame 11 instead of frame 0 to avoid the first set of double frames. I found the discussions tab, so now it's only four clicks to get to where I used to get when I logged onto the forum home page. Not a very great improvement. The last posters name is also missing, as far as I can tell, from every page. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to like about the new interface, but there are a few key elements that made the form fast and easy to navigate for folks that contribute a lot. We are also missing easy navigation links at the bottom of the page back to form content or communities. Again wasted time strolling around looking for links. The biggest thing that I am missing an indication of whether or not I have read a thread. Just makes it very difficult to figure out where I need to spend my valuable time helping users.
