Hi Arnis That did it. Setting the cursor inside a table cell makes the table editor work. It is a little weird though. Selecting the anchor works in all other previous versions of FrameMaker, but not in version 12. Hi Arnis and Klaus Thanks for your answers. I am running FrameMaker 12.0.1.331 on 64 bit windows 7. I had the newest patch before asking. I have tried Klaus's tricks and it still does not work. I have also tried on a clients computer running XP, and it does not work there either. I insert the table in a new document. Select the table anchor. Juggle the Title settings and press Apply. Nothing happens. Trying to Update All yield the same result. I can manage to make it work using the Global Update option, but that is not a practical solution. regards Bjørn ... View more

Hi Thanks for your answer. It does sound right but in this case the trouble is from somewhere else. I discovered that the trouble arises from Adobe Digital Edition which is the default epubreader installed from Technical Communication Suite. I have made the slideshow using captivates software demo settings, so all slides are named whatever Captivates has decided is a good idea.  In this instance the slides are merely named 1,2.3 etc. I have tried checking for "strange characters" but have used none. Hi Rod and Lilybird I tried deleting the preferences folder. It didn't help though, but thanks for the advice anyway.  I really wish Adobe would take a little more time testing their products before shipping. This is expensive software and had this been a car or a coffeemachine or whatever you wouldn't expect the customer to perform all sorts of magic in order to make the thing work. Hi Rod Thanks for the speedy answer. I have tried locating the preferences folder: C:\Users\Studio Smalbro\AppData\Local\Adobe\Captivate 6.0 x64 But that folder is empty ... There is another folder: C:\Users\Studio Smalbro\AppData\Local\Adobe\Captivate 6.0 - which does contain all sorts of stuff... Not sure which folder is the preferences folder. Now I have tried every trick I have been able to dig up and the conclusion seems clear to me. For some occult reason it seems Framemaker 10 prints slowly to pdf! That's it!  I cannot figure out why, but I have not been able to alter the speed. I guess having eight kernels, 64 bit windows, SSD Disk and heaps of Ram just isn't enough - I need NASA scale computing. Regards Bjørn ... View more

Thanks for your long answer. I am not too keen on establishing an extra format (creating tiff or jpg versions of the pdfs. I have some thousand drawings and they are being updated regularly as pdf's) Most of my linked pdf files are 400 - 500 kb, which is pretty large. I suppose it is because the contain colors, patterns, all sorts of cad rendering etc. Are there any better ways of optimizing file size in acrobat than saving as Optimized? I do not want to open the files in Illustrator - I do not quite trust the program to not alter the drawing and these are complex drawings ... So I'd rather keep any optimization within acrobat. ... Throwing stuff is allright Yes I have tried printing to ps and then distilling using distiller. But time usage is still the same. I have just installed a ssd disk in the hope that it might give a boost, and certain process do go quicker. Updating the book file, generating toc's, loading files and framemaker itself is way faster, but printing is not. ... View more
