Or you can specify different line-heights on individual selectors. While spaces in file/folder names are tolerated by many operating systems they have never been a good naming convention on the web. Spaces are technically not-allowed so they get translated to %20 which alters the URL. Use underscores, hyphens or a mix of upper and lowercase letters instead of spaces. Nancy O. This isn't a CSS question, but I'll try to answer you. DW8 is several years old now. There have been 3 new product releases since DW8 came out (CS3, CS4 and the current version which is CS5). Adobe does not issue updates on old software. The last update issued was DW 8.02. A lot has changed in Web Standards since Front Page. FP used old fashioned HTML styles. DW is web standards compliant which requires keeping content (html) separate from styles (CSS). Use the CSS properties panel to a) create an #ID .class or selector name and b) define it's properties and values. #ID {property: value} #header {width: 900px} .class {property: value} .center {text-align:center} selector {property: value} h1 {font-size: 1em} Classes are applied to page elements through the HTML properties panel. You can't prevent vertical scrollbars from appearing on smaller displays or when text size is increased in browser. But you can limit the need for horizontal scrolling if you choose a page width that provides comfortable viewing for the majority of your target users. Under 1000px for most laptop/desktop users. To identify unused CSS Selectors, get this Firefox Add-on: Dust Me Selectors - http://www.sitepoint.com/dustmeselectors/ Checking For Orphan Files with Dreamweaver DW has a built-in feature that will verify the links within the website that you've created, and it will identify any unused files in your web folder. This feature is built into Dreamweaver's "Check Links" utility in the Site menu. After the software checks links, it also provides you with a report of all unused files, which you can either delete or re-link. The following 3rd party products are useful tools for webmasters who want to keep their web space organized and well maintained. Inspyder OrFind will "crawl your site" and identify HTML pages and images that are no longer used. The software can be configured to automatically delete those files, and it will even email you a report if any files are modified. This can provide a webmaster with peace of mind, knowing that if their webspace gets hacked, they'll be alerted. There is a free trial available. Afterward, you need to pay for the software to continue using it. HTML Link Validator, released in 2007 by Lithops Software, will check your website for any broken links, regardless of the number of pages your site has. This software is another class of "web spider" which sifts through your web pages and identifies orphan web site files. The software is Shareware, but you need to register and pay to use the full version. FindOrphan is a simple application created by SobolSoft that will search your local HTML, PHP and ASP files for any unlinked files, including media files like images and video. Linx Explorer from NOVOSIB software will verify all links on your website to check for broken links, and it will also detect any unlinked files in your web directory and provide you with a report. SiteCleaner is Mac software created by Sideburn Studios that will take all of the files and code for your web project and "clean it" of all orphaned html or media files. Hey Nancy, but you don't have to clear an image every time though. I know, Nadia. Most times this is perfectly fine. But telling people about floats without showing them how to clear them is like handing someone a slice of bread and calling it a sandwich. Something's been left out. To illustrate what clearing does, look at the following screen shots. #1 - No float clearing. "Float right" text moves up and wraps around the "float left" image. #2 - With Float Clearing "Float right" text remains below "float left" image. Nancy O.
