Put a text caption on top of your smart shape with the variable, then group the 2 objects. It should achieve what you are looking for.

If you use advanced actions to display and hide the text it will not advance. You won't need a click box either as the buttons can pause the slide.

Read this blog, you'll have to recode the the flash detection scripts to do exactly what you want, and you may have to continually update the script each time a Flash player is released. I'm not talking about the progress bar & scrubber in particular. How many times has someone posted the question, "How to I disable the Next button?". People make custom navigation or playbars in Flash specifically because you con't control the one in Captivate. Seems to me that in previous versions you could access the playbar components with actionscript, but not anymore. There should be flexibility for the designer. Wish lists are nice, but usually that's what they remain. How easy would it be to give us an action to disable the next button instead of hiding the playbar in quizzes?

This is one of the most common features in eLearning courses. Adobe really should just give us an action to do this. They supply you with all of the controls, but no way to control them. Instructional Designers put it in storyboards all the time to disable navigation. Hiding the whole playbar is not really what most designers want, it's a work-around. Usefull buttons (CC, TOC, Exit, Back) dissapear when you hide the playbar.

No, I'm just saying that when you are deeloping you should be testing in the lowest common denominator which is IE9 since that is what your client is using. There is really very little HTML5 that Captivate outputs, I haven't done extensive testing, but I've yet to see and actual HTML5 tag, it's mainly CSS3 where you would have the problems.

Not really sure how your even able to compile that. You are referencing functions that don't exist in the event listeners. Why don't you just comment out the event listeners. For the AutoPlay button, ou'll need to find the reference to autoPlay_mc and get rid of the code to display it.

I've seen a lot of threads about getting rid of these kind of messages. Those messages are there for a reason most of the time. If you have CSS animations or other HTML5 standards that cannot be rendered in IE9 they won't magically start working becuse you got rid of a message. I use IE9 since that is the minimum standard for the client. I have never seen that message publishing to HTML5 content. IMO, if your client has IE9 I think that you should develop with IE9 in mind not IE11. The multiscreen.html is published when you choose SWF and HTML5.

Use rdcmndNextSlide instead of cpCmndNextSlide. I would also move the cp discovery outside of the button click function. I see what you mean. It only works if you place your cursor very near the end of the audio waveform and insert silence using the "at playhead position". If you don't have you cursor in the waveform and choose insert silence at end, it won't really change the length.

In your audio management place your cursor at the end of the audio file and insert silence, say 1 sec. Adjust your click box to stop 1 second before the end of the slide.

Wouldn't it be possible to create several slides that accomplish what you want and have the buttons navigate to those slides? Blue transition slide, Green..., Red.... I think when you create the effect on the timeline it's creating a movieclip based on your parameters. When you do it with an applied effect the movieclip CP creates has a fixed time (60 frames).

Funny but I am working on that for one of our courses right now. I'm doing it in Flash though with custom navigation inserted as a widget. You could probably do it with JavaScript also since you would have to build arrays. I don't think it can be accomplished if you use the CP playbar.

Rod is exactly correct. HTML5 was supposed to be the time when everyone (browsers) got on board with a standard. Unfortunately it's business as usual with everyone supporting what they want. You stil have to write code for specific browsers. Fortunately with US Government contracts we only have to code for one, albeit the worst one.

Exactly the kind people have been doing for years. You design a template for a course, with navigation elements top, bottom, side. You create a "window for content" and you populate it with elements. The difference is, almost all eLearning is a fixed size and if it's not, it scales. Responsive designs reformat to keep the usability at a higher level, they don't really scale.
