Peter, Your question finally prompted me to do some timing tests: I created 400 text frames for testing purposes. Accessing pageItems to check if they were text frames took about 20 times as long when they were collections than with everyItem().getElements(). adding the "slice(0)" cut the time by about a third. You can try stepping through the script in the ESTK to see where things are going wrong. An Array is simply a specialized JS object. When you loop though for (x in Object), you are iterating through all the objects properties/methods. Since you have added a method to the object, it makes a lot of sense that that will be in you iteration. What you should really be doing is not using "in" at all. You should be using a regular "for" or "while" loop up to the array's length. FWIW, altering and appending to global objects is very very bad practice. There's a new opCode for moving objects inside other objects -- something which has been sorely missed in scripting for ever!
