Hi, This is definitely a bug! I just created a FrameMaker file with the default Portrait template. When I click the Options icon in the Character catalogue and clicked the last option to customize the list of character formats, I could move a format to the show or not show list. When I click OK (even when I had not moved any character format), the default paragraph format is hidden. Even in another new file. You have to get the default paragraph format back with Show All. Hi Vicki, I do not know your structured application which can do all sorts of things via the EDD. What I can tell: Yes, FrameMaker uses <A+> in paragraph numbering ( test this in a (non-structured?) file: open the Paragraph Designer and go to the Numbering tab; activate Numbering and enter <A+> in the Format text box), and for each paragraph of this paragraph format the numbering counts up (ABCD, etc.). FM will not skip I (I guess you mean the upper case i, don't you?). You cannot enter your own set of numbering characters. A (manual) solution would be to insert an otherwise empty paragraph format (e.g. body) with <I> as numbering. Apply white color, 2 pt to this empty paragraph with the I numbering. Hi Marcia, What's your update version? The latest one 17.0.7. Save as and Publish are identical. You can use whatever is more comfortable for you. However, in the Publish pod you can switch from the (default) FrameMaker PDF engine to Distiller. Change the option Use Acrobat Distiller for PDF generation. Hm. I have files from FM 2012, but I used EPS for pixel and vector graphics, and their sizes did not change. When you use structured FrameMaker, do you save your files as *.fm or *.xml? If *.xml, FrameMaker would have to do some interpretation of your content and might change also the resolution of your graphics files. Do all your jpg files change? Or only some of them? Do the files which change have something in common (e.g. rather old, created with another Photoshop version, etc.)? And did the width/height of the graphics change? Did it change to a defined width, e.g. table column width, text frame width? Hi Ben,   Yes. You can package everything as Matt said, so that all files are copied to a local folder. All paths are corrected. Generally, when a path to an image changes, FrameMaker notifies you, and you can correct the path to this image. FrameMaker will update the path to all images of this FrameMaker file. What would not work: When you have subfolders, e.g. for different file formats. Then FrameMaker would not be able to update the path for all referenced files. Hi, I just tested this, and my 300 dpi are correctly 3.5" x 2". The scaling is only the size compared to 72 dpi. In the preferences in Graphics there is the option Auto-Scale Image Along Width. Is this option activated? This might change the scaling/dpi, when you import e.g. into a narrow table cell. What's the scaling/dpi in the object properties? Hi Andrea, Do you want to use change bars (Format | Document | Change Bars) or Track Text Edits (toolbar icons or Edit | Track Text Edits)? When you use change bars, a newly inserted table does not get any change bars. Only when you enter text in a table. Track Text Edits: new tables and new text in tables has Track Text Edits. In fact, when you activate Track Text Edits and insert a table, you have to either keep Track Text Edits activated to enter text in this table, or deactivate it and accept the Track Text Edit of this table. If you select PDF in the Publish pod and click on the Settings File icon and click Edit, there is the option Use Acrobat Distiller ... When you activate or deactivate this option, FrameMaker uses the Distiller or the FrameMaker PDF engine to create the PDF. Hi, I see that your table anchors are at the end of the preceeding heading paragraphs. You would have more control, and your document would be better structured and clearer, if you put the table anchor into an empty paragraph "anchortable" (or another name which fits for you). Then you can set the heading paragraph to keep with next paragraph. And there wouldn't be any conflicts, if you only have a heading paragraph with an anchor and nothing else in this section. In such a case "keep with next" would mean to be on the same page as the following heading. This is not what you want. Therefore better two separate paragraphs for the heading and for the table anchor. Additionally you can set the table to start at the top of a page with the paragraph Page Break pod reliably. Set the spacing below of the empty anchor paragraph to the negative value of spacing above. E.g. spacing above 11 pt, spacing below -11 pt. Hi, I do not know, how you count your Track Text Edits. However, when I accept my Track Text Edits, there are usually a number of them left. Possibly these are your 57 edits. I have an old FrameScript script to save as MIF, and this script finds all those remaining edits which had not been accepted. When I select such edits, I can accept them individually. Hi Quintin, Strange. I use Track Text Edits all the time, but I had not experienced your issue yet. What I would do: Make a backup copy of all FrameMaker files of this project! Restart Windows, restart FrameMaker. Check, if all conditions are shown. If yes, hide some and then show all again. Check, if Track Text Edits are shown or hidden. Change this and then back again.
