Are your audio & video linked together? Based on your screenshot seems like you imported audio and video separately.

For optimum quality, I use DNxHR/DNxHD MXF OP1a format, with DNxHR HQX 10 bits. You can go for the DNxHR RVB 444 option if needed too. Hope this helps, Seb

The UI have been greatly improved since CS3. I'm using AE, used to work on a dual screen setup, but now, more and more on 13" laptops and single huge screen destop setup. Pixel real estate is very high. I'd love to see the Photopsho ptreatment to AE, where you can reduce a panel ton a simple icon. I'd also love to remove the panel header when I want. For exemple I always put the preview panel under the comp viewer so I just have the play/pause/preview button just under my viewer. But I loose a lot of real estate because of the "Preview" header. I'd love to keep the header when having tabs inside the panel, but not when I don't or when the panel can't have tabs. There is also a bug when too much elements are diplayed in a panel. For exemple add 1000 layers in a comp in AE and twirl down for all of them the transformation properties. Now scroll down the panel and at some point it will become completly black. The Production Premium package CS5 (including the CS4 version you need) cost roughly the same as AE+Pr individually. Hi, You can't install on 32bit systems because AE CS5 and Premiere CS5 are 64 bit application only. You should definitly move on a 64bit version of Windows 7 (If you bought a retail box, both 32 and 64 installs are available) and not only for AE, but for your computer performance in general. Sorry, but there is no workaround or solution to make them both work on 32 bit systems. Hope that helps, Seb

ANswers to some of your question: 1) Only Premiere Pro is really accelerated by CUDA thanks to it's Mercury Engine. And yes, only the supported cards can enable Cuda acceleration. 5) Now that AE CS5 is 64bit you can use more than 3gb/core. You can use all the ram you want per core. 6) It really depends on your compositions (number of layers, effects applied, blending modes...). 11) Yes it's better if you have a dedicated scratch disk. My config is like this: 1 HDD for Windows, 1 HDD for swap/temp/scratch, 1 HDD for sources and 1 HDD for renders. Like that you avoid cross reading/writing on disks, and keep the pace. SSD is overkill IMHO. 12) The 280 GTX card will allow CUDA acceleration up to 3 tracks in Ppro, whereas the Quadros supports 10 tracks and more. For AE, it won't probably make any difference. Just to clear some stuff up, not all application are 64bit only. Photoshop is still 32/64bit, Encore is 32bit, and some other programs too. But if you want specifically to use AE & Premiere Pro, they are 64b only, so you'll need a 64bit OS. I recommand Windows 7.

Oh I see, I never turn on OpenGL in AE because it kills Multiprocessing (which is much more important to me). i'll have a try tonight and tell you if I experience the same behavior. As for a fix, it can take monthes from the time they find a repro case up to the time one of the parties patch their stuff. As soon as one is ready, I'm sure we will be among the first to know it

What wacom tablet are you using, and what driver version ? I've been using a Intos 3 A4 Wacom tablet since CS3 (and now on CS4), on Windows XP 32 & 64bit, Windows Vista 32 & 64bits and on Windows 7 64bit without any problem at all (with Nvidia or Ati cards alike), and on various workstations. Looks like something is conflicting somewhere.

As a workaround, you can export your animation and passes as an EXR sequence, and import it inside AE and then use the EXtractoR plugin to select the pass you wanna use.

What you are talking about is called stereoscopy, and cannot be acheived that simply. But know that it's already possible to do it in AE,and that the process have been simplified by a free script available on the web, or a pay plugin available on the toolfarm online store. It's not new "3D preset" or 3D camera, the stereoscopy involves the use of 3 cameras in the same 3D world, one of each eye, linked together.

These have all been logged by me with Adobe (many times) using the "Feature Request" page for the last 3 versions of the software. Can't figure out why they don't think these wouldn't be an asset to the program: Well besides the general direction the team wants to give to the software, my hunderstanding is feature addition are based on the number of requests they get, and sometime on the ease of implementing it. For exemple, if 300 dudes asks for 64bit and if only 10 asks for "grow boundaries", they'll propably look at that 64bit thingy first. So the more the people asks for something, the more the AE team considers it. I'm not speaking on the behalf of the AE team, but it's what I have understood by looking around here.

WoW 30.000px, that's huge, and as Mylenium said, it's the biggest size possible in AE. You should never need a plate like that even when working in HD. What are you trying to achieve with this layer, maybe there is a better solution than tiling.

I've got a x1950 radeon on my Vista 64, and AE is working smoothly. But i haven't installed the latest drivers because it broke my display. Maybe try previous drivers to see if it works.

Yeah, that's almost it ! Now i can track nearly properly the object. The only thing that makes it not following exactly is that my sun is inside a precomp with rasterize on and 3d switch on (to pass the 3D inside my comp), and this precomp is also moved in 3D space. My sun, in it's comp, is 4000px in Z space, and it's comp is 300 in z space in my main comp (x,y axis are changed too). How do i calculate the acurate position on my null object. I've tried various things, but it gives me strange results.

Well i've just figured out what my problem is. The "sun" i have to track is burried into 2 nested comps. The sun is in 2D space inside it's comp, it's comp is inside a 3D world, with 3D switch activated and rasterize switch on, and this comp is inside my main comp, also with 3D switch and rasterize on. That's why it doesn't follow properly the sun layer. And the lens flare i have to add is not the built in lens flare, it's just a 2D layer with the "flare" designed on it. So it looks like something like that: MAIN COMP > BG COMP> SUN COMP > Sun Layer My Lensflare is in Main comp, and so is my camera. The expression right now looks like that (on the position of the lensflare): c = comp("BG COMP").layer("SUN COMP"); p = c.toComp(c.anchor_point); Is there a way to do something like: c = comp("BG COMP").layer("SUN COMP").layer("Sun Layer");

Yup Dan, that's the first thing i tried. Either with toComp and toWorld, my layer reposition itself correctly on the first frame, but during the camera panning, it's position value stays the same whereas it should move, because the sun is "moving" because of the camera movement, and the 2D layer is not affected by my camera.

Ok, i've come to my limitation of expression skills. I've setuped a 3D composition, with various elements at various depths. One of this element is a Sun. I setuped a camera to do a pan inside my 3D world. So far, so good. None of my elements are animated. Now i'd like to link a lens flare on my sun, which is a 2D layer. I've tried with the "toWorld" and "toComp" expression, but i don't get any results as my 3D layer "Sun" is not moving. Only my camera (and for some reasons i mustn't turn my Lense flare into a 3D layer). But i can't figure out how to calculate the position of my "Sun" layer inside my comp with an offset from the camera position. I'm sure it's possible, but i'm so bad when it comes to heavy math.
