The difference is that in LR 5.7.1 you can have lots of healing brushes, adjustment brushes, etc etc, and delivers much better than the latest version. And I'm using an HP Z840 with 40 cores and 256 GB or RAM and a Quadro M6000. You can't beat that machine today, still LR CC2015 is slower than LR 5.7.1 when GPU is ON. Wasn't the purpose of have GPU support make it faster? It has gotten better in the last few versions. But what is infuriating is the total ignoring us from part of Adobe.

Quadro M6000 not 6000 sorry. Also tested with a GTX 980 Titan X 128 GB of RAM, have PCIe SSD which gives me about 1300 MB/s, not sure what else on the machine would make a difference. The software is just slower than before, GPU on or not. It's better now, but still slower than the good old 5.7.1 Sent from the Moon

Even turning it off LR CC 2015 is slower than 5.x with the brushes. It got better. But still slower. Hope they can fix it for good at some point. Average user might not notice it, but I do heavy retouching with LR and the difference is still big enough to make me keep using 5.7.1

Good for you, although 4GB is really low for these days, and most of us have this problem even with machines with 128 GB or RAM like my HP Z840….. but the latest versions of LR has gotten much better, still not as fast as the last iteration of 5.x …

It is pretty weird. I think they have tons of optimization to do and may be not all the experience. May be they need to hire people that knows about this. It used to work extremely bad in my computer and since the last version is working pretty well. I hope next version does not break it again. Sent from the Moon

Have you tried the latest LR 2015? Most of the problems I had are gone in this version, other than the new horrible import menu that's going away anyway. We use After Effects 2015 day out at our shop, 6 machines, no issues, only minor stuff that was solved by updating the GPU drivers. Sent from the Moon

1 - I can use heavy. And really heavy brush in LR 5.7.1. Talking about well over 100 strokes. With almost no delay on 50MP images. LR6 gets super slow with and without GPU acceleration after the first 10 or so strokes. 2. Even with GPU off is slower than LR 5.7.1. With GPU on is just unusable. 3. It should not. Shows bad coding. Probably not using brushes or many graduated filters. Good for that person. Again. Adobe should specify what hardware to get to use their software. Because believe me, were I work we have all kind of machines, and have yet to find one where it works acceptably

Look. I'm using this on a brand new HP Z840 with dual 10 core Xeons, 128 GB or ram, 1200MB/s SDD and a Quadro 6000M and LR7 SUCKS. There is no faster machine than this on the market at this point neither faster GPU. LR7 should never released in the current state. Using Photoshop is not a solution for the people that edit 100s of photos per day, it's slow and once you open a CR2 or a DNG and save it as a TIFF 16 bits to keep the quality from PS it becomes a 400MB file easily. it is not becuase of the size of the files..... I work with a Pentax 645Z, 50 Megapixels too.... LR 5.7.1 moves those files very easy, pretty fast, no effort.... LR CC 2015 is SLOOOOOOWWWWW.... Adobe just have to get that piece of software back to the design table and start over...

I'm sure they know very well about all the issues. It is impossible that all of us have these issues and they don't have a problem on a single computer in their labs. I'm convinced too they just can't accept they made a bad software publicly because that could affect they company. So we just have to keep using 5.7.1 and hope they keep releasing updated for it until 6.x becomes a usable piece of software. Sent from the Moon

I have several pretty recent GPUs at the office, in pretty recent HP workstations. It crawls to a stop almost with and without GPU when you have a decent amount of brushes. Just a few like to fix a few eyes and soften a skin not a Problem. But when you retouch jewelry like me, it's plain unusable. Sent from the Moon

That is why I do not migrate catalogs until I sure the software is usable. And you should still have the old catalog since new ones are created and not replaced. You can also leave what you have so far in there and go back to the old good Lightroom for future jobs. Expecting to have Adobe to fix this I a timely manner is a bit of a fantasy. You can also save the metadata of the files to the files itself and open the photos in the old LR by syncing the folders, the only thing it will ignore are new features if you used any. If you use sharpening or other CPU intensive things on your brushes with GPU off is much slower than LR 5.7.1 on every single machine I've tried side by side. Specially after you start accumulating some brushes, it gets dead dog slow. Sent from the Moon

It seems too convoluted, but if you need those filters, then you only option probably to wait for the next few months or year until it gets fixed. The addition of new filters are not worth enough for me to get that slow. I can’t screw my productivity because just that.
