If it was me I would look at the following (in no particular order)... 1. Make sure there is nothing else running and before you say there is nothing else running there is always something else running 2. Make sure your media is on a local fast SSD drive (yes I know the D stands for drive LOL) 3. Make sure your video card driver is up todate 4. Try changing the video card - bigger and faster is not always best for Audition 5. Make sure your Audition 'temp' drives are on different physical drives   ... View more

What emmrecs said plus make sure you are monitoring from the external soundcard and not from Audition otherwise by the time the audio has gone through your PC and Audition it will always have latency and that happens with every PC and every DAW ... View more

I must admit that my eyes started to glaze over halfway through reading this so I've probably missed something important in this spiel but what I did get from it is this (and please correct me if I'm wrong).... You have a piece of software that you haven't paid for and that was originally developed by a guy who may be probably dead now (or I hope living on a beach somewhere) that Adobe purchased and massaged it a bit and hasn't been worked on for at least 10 years and although you haven't invested in the software with Adobe you want Adobe to invest some money in it for you. Unfortunately, it is not that simple.  It involves examining the sesx in detail as well as interrogating each of the media files and applying a fair bit of math. It is not just the amount of media available to the clip (which can vary if a file needs to be resampled) but where in the clip the start of the media begins - looped clips are generally the culprit for that particular scenario. Another way is to try and create a 'reference' OMF (rather than an embedded/encapsulated OMF) and then see if PT opens it. PT will probably complain and then truncate the offending clips but it will produce an error report which should at least help you isolate the offending clips. ... View more

You need to use an ASIO driver for your Audio interface and you need to monitor from the audio interface otherwise because if you monitor from your DAW then latency (which cannot be avoided) will put you out of time every time ... View more

Hard to know exactly what is what without seeing the sesx and media files but it sure sounds like the wav file (or the wav file's header) is corrupted - happy to have a look. I don't know much about Macs (unless they come with a coke & fries) but check that the Mac's internal audio is turned off and only the scarlett is controlling the audio or that there isn't some interaction happening betweeen the two ... If you can get them opened in a later version of Logic then the only options that Audition will import are (and from memory I can't recall which versions of Logic support what formats) FCP XML and OMF. FCP XML would be the better choice of the two. If AAF is your only available option then AATranslator may be an option but PM me first if you are considering it ... View more

SteveG asked where you were backing up to ie the cloud or a local hard drive. A local hard drive is the only place you should be settingh your auto-backup location to be. If you want to send stuff to the cloud later that is your choice and you can control that but at least you always have your primary backup locally ... View more

Just had a chance to do the conversion - had to delete a 'hidden' clip ie one where one clip completely covers another - while you can do this in Audition this is a no no in PT. AATranslator needs the media available during conversion in order for PT to to automatically relink the media. Without it AAT can't write certain detail into the PTX so PT will need to search for the media manually ... View more

OMF is a pretty useless format - for all the effort you may as well send stems but if you actually want to convert pretty much everything you should look at this AATranslator.com  There are a few caveats like don't mix mono and stereo media on the same track, don't have one clip completely covering another (xfade it instead) and render any stretched or pitched clips In the spirit of disclosure I am the author ... I think we all know someone who works at Descript 😉 You need to create the session based on the template first - it can't be done retrospectively.   The only thing I can suggest is sesx2sesx  Using this software I would try appending your Descript sesx TO the one created by your template. This may or may not be related but something to note is that the sesx references the media files in two ways 1. an absolute path eg "E:\Suite Spot Studios\Alan Podcasts\McKinley\McKinley\McKinley_Recorded\Vox Take_002_1.wav" 2. a relativePath="McKinley_Recorded/Vox Take_002_1.wav" So if for any reason Audition can't find the media using an absolute path it will fall back to looking in the relative path This is certainly one way that a media file of the same name could be picked up and when the session is saved it will be that file's absolute path which will then be used. The other thing is that even if you move (or copy) the sesx to another location it will still try and use the media in that absolute path (and in the case of copying not the copied media).
