Something to note is that an embedded/encapsulated OMF is limited to 2gb in total size and that generally a seperate file will be created for every clip in the session and the total size of these files may well exceed the size of the original media file(s) (many times quite dramatically). So your best bet is probably to export a 'reference' OMF ie one which does not have the media embeded in the OMF While some may swear by OMFs I frankly swear at them Which DAW is expected to be opening the resulting OMF?

If you select a particular clip and then go to the properties window (Alt+3) and then select the 'Stretch' settings and for Mode select 'Off' it should unstretch the clip

"this doesn't happen with tape recorders" Nor with wax cylinders either I suspect 😉 You haven't told us what version of Audition you are running or what version of waves plugins you are running or even if you are on a PC or Mac or pretty much anything at all that might help. However , I'm going to take a stab and suggest that either the plugins aren't where Audition expects them to be or they are 32bit which are no longer supported in later versions of Audition

IMO the three most effective things you can do are:- 1. Have at least 2 fast SSD drives - one for your session and media and one for your primary Audition temp folder 2. More RAM 3. Turn off all background and/or unnecessary applications

You can do that for some versions but from memory you lose any effects you may have used in the session. I don't think the OP knows which version he used and some early versions (especially CEP) that used ses files did not have that ability to save as xml.

As SteveG says it is unlikeley that you have lost anything but it does sound to me like the audio interface playback sample rate is not the same as that of the media file. ie one is 48k and the other is 44.1k

I don't use a Mac but one thing to make sure of is that your session sample rate is the same as your audio interface (and vice versa). Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware

As long as you edit in Multitrack view you can't really go wrong as you can pretty much undo anything It is only when you are in WaveForm view any you 'apply' changes that you make them permanent

What SteveG said is the best way to bring stems in and have them correctly aligned. However, if you have the actual ProTools session file (PTX) with all the cuts/edits/takes/etc and you want to bring that into Audition rather than the bounced down stems PM me and send me the PTX and I will convert it to an Audition sesx for you.

Make sure all your tracks are sending their output to the master track and that the master track's output is set to your audio device outputs (Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware and also Audio Channel Mapping)

Just check your audio interface/sound card settings to make sure they match the session sample rate Also go to Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware tick 'Attempt to force hardware to document sample rate'

I see you are on a Mac and my Macs come with fries so my advice will be general - Go to your hardware settings and look for something like hardware / sound settings and then for something like audio input and change the default setting sample rate to something other than 192k

I would guess that it is your audio interface or how you are monitoring what you are recordeing but more information please. Mac or PC, audio interface you are using, which driver for your audio interface, how are you monitoring what you are recording, etc

A couple of things Are you on a Mac or PC? Where did you "save as' to (which folder)? Did you ever do a 'save' prior to the 'save as'? There should be progressive backups in your 'backup' sub folder - did you have a look?

OMF has 2gb limit and even having your total media size under 2gb doesn't mean it will still be under 2gb You could try 1. exporting a 'reference' OMF (where the media is seperate from the OMF) rather than an encapulated/embedded OMF 2. AATranslator and just convert from sesx to whatever format you want (eg PTX for ProTools rather than a useless OMF)

Has the latest version of Audition installed correctly? Can you create a new multitrack session? If not then it is unlikely to be the original sesx file but if you can then it may be the sesx file Happy to check the sesx for either way info@aatranslator.com.au
