The admin guide says in multiple places that quarterlies are cumulative to the last MSI. For example, from the AIP Best Practices section: "For Adobe Reader 10.x, quarterly updates are cumulative to the latest MSI (e.g. 10.1 replaces the base release of 10.0) and security patches are cumulative to the last quarterly. Thus, 10.0 > 10.1 is valid. 10.0 > 10.0.3 > 10.1 isn’t." The admin guide is "complete" in that it describes everything that's officially supported. It specifically states what Sabian said: "The Enterprise Administration Guide works for standalone Acrobat" and provides a link to the CS doc for users working with suites. While I'm not sure how long a "hunt" would be for info in a 14 page doc, I am sure DOL's suggestions for the Admin Guide are good. . . look for changes shortly. Ben ... View more

The admin guide is complete and describes what's supported. The APT allows you to turn off EULA, Adobe ID, and Lic. dialogs.  However, if you want to off-road a bit you could read the CS doc about the Adobe Provisioning Tool and see if there are any switches you can try beyond what the doc describes.  Some folks have indicated a few CS switches work, but it's unsupported of course. Hi, Your deductions sound correct. If the previous install was via an AIP, you're better off uninstalling and starting over with a bootstrapper workflow. BTW, 10.x patches are usually cumulative and there's only half as many due to improved security hardening. Ben ... View more

The Wiz options are greyed out if they are not applicable. If you loaded a MUI installer, you see those items active. Your tests indicate a machine specific issue that's tied previous product installs. My guess is you should check language related preferences in the registry. That's a bug and I believe you can ignore the UI because it's incorrect. You might want to test on a machine first, but I'm fairly certain Acrobat will not be uninstalled. Since you're new to this, make sure you get the admin guide and AIM (which has the preference reference). You're right: 8 AIPs in your scenario. . 10.0 + last quarterly. This is one reason why most admins use bootstrapper or SCCM deployments. Many folks report successful AIP creation using unsupported configuration--but then the install fails later on. There are no new MSIs for Acrobat, so the part about "MSI's uninstall. . . This will work. However, even though it's supported the installation of different products with different version across an enterprise environment introduces many variables, and there's no way that Adobe can test what soon becomes an infinite number of environments. That said, the reason Reader X was designed to work with Acrobat 9.x (the later the version the better) is because its sandboxing features make it far more secure. So upgrading to Reade X is recommended. It would be wise to test your deployment on a few machines for a bit before deploying to all your users. Ben ... View more

The Acrobat team is aware of the 10.1.2 bug that impairs PDF browser-based display in certain workflows. While a fix is ready for the next quarterly update, customers can help by attaching affected files (or by providing a public URL, if any) to a forum post here. Alternatively, click my user name and send the file privately with any details about your workflow you think might be pertinent.
