There are tons of Android devices that report wrong resolution/size so we have put together years ago an ANE (ultra simple to do) that reports metrics and size. We are still using it today (its values are used to setup our app size and resolution) and our apps are always showing with right size on any device so far including the S10 family. For us it's mostly Typescript and WebGL right now and so web, Cordova and Ionic, overall performance is not very good but we get a lot of flexibility in term of platform and turnaround times. We really need to cover all platform and AIR was the best solution for us but once we lost the web target then we had to start looking for alternatives. So if performance is not a concern then WebGL and typescript can get you on all platforms. Also an app that does code conversion between AS3 and Typescript is not too hard to put together. ... We are using AIR 32 build 103 with in house ANEs and can still publish to Apple store without any problem (we are currently running some updates). Either you need a different AIR 32 build or one of your ANEs is creating this problem. Publish your app without any ANEs and see if that makes a difference, if not then pick a different AIR 32 build. ... View more

Our private JIRA system costs pretty much a whole developer salary each year but they don't mind because it DELIVERS what it promises. Leo is correct, maybe you did not read his post correctly, AIR 32 is EOL since as of NOW it will receive only "basic" update and will stop receiving any update as of 2020. After that it will be available to use "at your own risks" which might be fine for indy developers but for companies it will be unprofessional to offer to a customer base. Anyone with an AIR product that is supposed to last a few years at least will have eventually to stop using AIR 32 and move to AIR33 and above (and pay the fees). Of course you would say "no, they won't have to, they can use AIR32 forever", but that's only true if you don't care about your app's users and don't care to let them deal with the security risks. ... Our main product is a subscription based product generating millions of dollars and we still have a few AIR apps for mobile that are not the product itself but a mean (among many) to access it. Obviously won't make a difference for HARMAN so since we have a HTML5 version ready to go, we'll switch the AIR apps for those for now and maybe finish up our Xamarin versions. But that's it for our company, those were the last remaining AIR apps, in a couple months all our AIR stuff is gonna go on a archive folder somewhere and that will be it. Nearly 15 years of working with Flash/AIR ends now for us, we started turning the page 3 years ago but it's quite weird to actually starting to put away everything AIR related. If they don't, then that pricing is just meant to force people to pay just for the privilege to keep their AIR app on the stores, you stop paying, then by contract to need to recompile your apps. What do you see in that crystal ball? I've been called out for saying "dead" so I switched to "uncertain future", a tech with an "uncertain future" is a tech that is not doing very good. For me, considering the state of AIR, this new HARMAN pricing does not make any sense if the goal is a long term future for the tech. Very well said. That pricing seems like a big mistake from HARMAN. They said they want to attract new users but I don't see that pricing helping at all with that. They said they want to keep existing users and I don't see that pricing helping with that either. The only case where this pricing makes any sense to me is if HARMAN only goal is to milk remaining AIR users up until they are all gone, I can't think of any other explanation. Not sure how much of this was really planned so I'm inclined at giving HARMAN the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they are really just trying to save AIR, who knows. The reason I'm saying this is that HARMAN has no forums or dedicated website for AIR (they are working on it) so it really seems that they haven't known FOR SURE if they were inheriting AIR up until maybe a few weeks before June. This being said I'd be surprised if they come up with a big fee for AIR as this would scare away the last remaining users for sure. A small fee is more likely so they can keep the actual users and still try to attract new users with upcoming features/updates. Apps should not be removed from store by Google, the deadline is about app updates which means you won't be able to push new app versions to store after deadline if they don't comply to guidelines but your existing apps already in store should be fine at least for a while (probably a long while). ... As a company HARMAN can only justify taking over the management of AIR updates as a commercial product and nobody can blame them. It is extremely likely that AIR33 will be fee based (as HARMAN itself implied). Animate can work with any version of the AIR SDK so it doesn't need to be "supported" in order to work with any AIR version HARMAN will come up with. I don't see either Adobe removing the AIR option in Animate in the future. In conclusion Animate will probably work with AIR as long as AIR is alive. ... View more

Flash Builder hasn't been maintained for a while now but it's still available in Adobe Cloud in a "as is" state. That means as long as it works you are welcome to use it but Adobe won't spend 1 minute fixing it if it stops working. FYI, it did stop working on MAC not long ago and somebody from Adobe (in their own time) put together a nice fix. Animate is an Adobe product still actively maintained/updated that offers (among others) the ability to use AIR as target. There's no reason to see that change in the future.  When a lot of customers count on your products (and you or your company count on your customers) then you simply cannot rely on a tech with an uncertain future. That's why usually companies have turned away from AIR for a while now and indy developers are still sticking around (since they don't have the same type of customer base and income). HARMAN will have to attract more indy developers and make the tech more trendy before they can see companies coming back to AIR.
