What do you mean with 'outside'? If you group your elements you can then just export the selection. If you need also elements from a masterpage, you could separate elements from the master. If all this stuff does not work, you could save your doc, did your masterpage thing and close the document without saving. So: Provide a example before/after (not only screenshots) and don’t make things so complicated 😉

Josh, whatever you do, it will take you not longer as us, to write that all up 😉 Even if you use datamerge, there must be a kind of formatting. Believe us, datamerge isn’t neccecary. So, load up for all a excel-file and a indesign file, that shows your final result as a example and someone built you a demofile or better: Sent me your complete data. Since we have determined the way, it takes just two minutes to go the way. I will investigate those 2 minutes so that we than have all weekend. Kai

Trevor, Michel wants to have always the last word 😉 But to make things clear: Michel you are wrong. We are talking not about the space between dots. We are talking about the space before and after the dots. Sadly the space before could simply archived with a character style applied on the character before the tab, e.g. ".(?=\t)". That’s why I try to avoid this second tab. But if you apply tracking to the tab, this has no impacts to the space after the tab. So Trevors solution, e.g. insert thin space is the only way to get the right result. If it works it works, but the second tab is pretty useless in this case and should removed. So if someone cries for a second line, give him a real second line. And yes: The kerning must also be honored. Anyway: Interesting to see, how different a simple task is solved. Hopefully the OP find our answers helpful.

I would vote for Trevors version . Instead of importing the table and converting to tab text, you could import tab text directly by choosing this option at the import options dialog. Another GREP, but not better as Trevors: Find what: \t(?=[^\t]+$) Change to: \n Then use a nested style or a grep style: I would control the dotted line not with the tabs option. Instead I recommend a character style. Here you have more control about thickness, spacing …. Realize that you get in this case dancing dots. If you want to avoid this, use the tabs option for the dotted line and apply a character style later. Whatever you are doing: Don’t use more than one paragraph style! best Kai

Hm, who marked this answer as correct? First of all, your screenshot shows not the same as you wrote in your text. So your example is not really clear. If someone write a script for you, he spent his time for you. While this is interesting sometimes (to learn how to doing things), it cannot be done every time for nothing. So what Loic is trying to say here is: Start learning scripting and when you have a detailed problem, post your code and you get surely a good answer. For your problem you get 2 important answers already: 1. Import your CSV-File > You will find a lot of examples here 2. Learn how to create frames in the document Nevertheless I would assume, that your task will not work, since width and height of a frame does not give you the position of the frame on the page. So your CSV-file should have x/y-coordinates (4 values are needed) instead of width and height. If this is not possible, create frames and move them … to which position? What, if you reach the page margin? What, if you reach the end of your page? So hopefully you understand, that this can’t be done in 2 minutes 😉 btw: Loic did not say anything about datamerge! best Kai

@klippCW: My script assumes, that you have your document pages local labeled with a color "RED". If you start the script, you will prompt with a dialog and must choose a folder for your PDF. After that, the script will collect all document page names with the applied label, call the export dialog and insert the right page numbers. Your step is then to choose the right preset, nothing more. As Uwe mentioned, both scripts are v01. So there is a need to find solutions for a handling of applied labels with a masterpage (in your case maybe not realy important) and how to find the right color. My idea is here, to collect every color from the page, exclude "USE_MASTER_COLOR" (for the moment) and let the user select the color from a dropdown. So try both versions and give us feedback. Kai

Page ranges are insert separatly and not as ranges at the moment.
