Havng the same problem of swatches being added after copy paste from another ID document I just tried step 1 and 2 (changing Preferences). This did not solve the problem. I also found another Preferences entry (I am on a Dutch system so need to translate) named: 'Tracking Changes | Prevent changes in user defined colors' but switching this on did not solve the problem either. My only solution to prevent this is by ensuring that the color definitions of these swatches are identical in source and target documents. In my case the swatches being copied were used in character styles.

I experienced similar problems from VB.NET with all overruled master items from a particular template being shifted after using .Override. When the page is building you can see that first all elements are positioned at the original (correct) position, but immediately after they are shifted by a fixed amount. I checked the values for this shift and it seemed to be derived from obects that were extending outside the bleed area on that specific masterpage. So I made sure no elements extended beyond the bleed area, saved as IDML, imported but the problem remained. Then checked all elements on all master and document pages and made sure they were completely inside the bleed area. Saved as IDML, imported, problem remained. Then used another master page, problem solved. So I concluded that the master page is somehow trashed (all visible settings equal between the working and problem master) so I rebuild the master from scratch. Clearly there is a difference between manually overriding elements from a master page and doing this by script in .Override (it seems as if the latter one performs another irreversible step which is shifting everything for some unknown reason to compenate for elements placed outside the bleed area). Possibly the dimensions of the master page are different from those of the document and can never be changed back in the InDesign internal datastructure.

Just found out myself that just after setting frame.strokewidth = 0 the value for frame.strokewidth is actually 1 pt; if I set strokewidth = 0.000001 then the value returned is actually 0.000001 pt so will show as 0 in InDesign dialogs. So now my question is: how to set strokewidth to zero in InDesign CS5 ?

With a script that worked OK in CS4 I now find that when I set the strokewidth of a frame to 0 the result is a frame having a stroke of 1 pt, using the default TextFrame Object style. In both cases I used the same template file to start with so the Object Style is somehow changed or is now applied and not inprevious versions ? Do I need to set the ObjectStyle to None on all frames in CS5 to avoid this ?

Thanks Kris, but this error occurrs much quicker than in 6 minutes, its more like 6 seconds ! On different machines it happens in different script steps. So I am wondering where/how I could set the RPC timeout value which is obviously too short now....

Recently I received errors on both Windows Vista and XP when scripting InDesign CS4 for Windows using VB.NET. The error reads RPC_E_DISCONNECTED; it seems connection with InDesign CS4 is lost, although the program is still active and in a normal state. What could be done about this, is there a way to set a time-out for RPC communcation ? Can I do anything in the .NET program to do so ? By the way, the same program runs fine with InDesing CS3. Any suggestions welcome !
