I'm having this issue with the most recent update (or two?) What was the solution? Renaming the catalog?

Two useful things I've found while looking into this. This blog post from Adobe on HDR and this video. TL;DR: I probably can't do what I want on Windows (yet) and/or without an HDR monitor. I just have to export it from LRc reimport it if I want it back in my Lightroom catalog.

I don't seem to have that option. I also don't have an HDR monitor though. Ah. Here is why. I'm on Windows. Using “Edit in Photoshop” with an HDR photo will open a document in Photoshop in 32-bit mode. Note that Photoshop itself currently only supports displaying HDR photos on macOS (Windows support is in progress). To display HDR content correctly in Photoshop on macOS, go to the Technology Previews section of the Photoshop Preferences dialog and check the Precise color management for HDR display option. I just tried this with the same results. I was hoping that might be a workaround and the smart object would somehow have my edits included. However, I just found something else that may be the issue or I'm not understanding how it works, when I double clicked the smart object and ACR came up, "preview for SDR display" is uncheck, if I check it those are the "Lightroom settings" I was missing. However, it doesn't keep that preview on after leaving ACR and going back to PS. So are those really JUST preview settings for SDR display and not actual adjustments for outputting the file eventually? I CAN export with those SDR adjustments from LC, but only to a file, not into PS.

I'm not sure why it's not a "normal HDR" because it's also a panorama. (I've had the same issue with just one set of brackets by the way so I think that's a moot point.) But I conclude it is 32-bit because that's what mode it's in when opened into Photoshop from LC. (and obviously missing my edits in LC). 32-bit RGB.

It did open it in ACR but it didn't have any of the settings from my LR adjustments.

Yep! I hardly ever do anything outside of Lightroom Classic if I don't need to. I certainly wouldn't have done HDR in Photoshop. I wanted to content-aware fill in some corners as it was a panorama HDR from my drone.

This may be just how it works, but if I try and do "Edit in" on my merged HDR from LC into "Photoshop2024" I see what I assume is the full, unprocessed/edited 32-bit HDR file once it gets to Photoshop. I want to edit the Lightroom-processed version that I worked on in LC. Is there a way to do that directly from LC or do I have to export to a 16-bit tif and then reimport when I'm done editing the tif?

LOL, well it works pretty well for my uses at least besides this issue. Some of the other things can be somewhat tamed by the initial document design. (in InDesign) but If you were just scanning a form and auto-filling fields, that could be a problem I guess. I've also had it add fields on lines that weren't meant to be fields, so I removed the lines in the document. And on another occasion, it was adding boxes around images I had a rule around. (though deleting fields is pretty easy in that case)

It works pretty well except for the case I've stated with AI/EPS files and that's not a field detection issue, it's a bug.

Interesting, but still more work than export and auto-add fields. And what happens when I remove a product/products? I have to delete and move fields around. What a pain that would be. They need to fix the issue so there doesn't need to be a workaround.

This is pretty obviously caused by certain media being in the PDF. My work around is to not use AI/EPS files in the InDesign document I create the PDFs from. It would be nice not to have to do that though. Adding the fields one by one is out of the question. There are hundreds of fields in some cases. (it's an order form) And I have to update and make new ones quite often, which would require adding all those fields every time.

I'm creating PDFs in InDesign that have lines for "quantity" and exporting them, then opening them in Acrobat Pro DC to auto-add form fields with "Prepare Form". If there's an AI or EPS file on the page, they generally will not auto-create the fields for that page. I have to go back and convert the image, graphic, or whatever to a raster format of some sort to get it to work properly on reexport. I assume this is a long-running bug as it's been doing this for quite a while. I keep updating and hoping it'll be gone.
