When you turn on the sync, LrC acts like a vaccuum and downloads everything it finds in the cloud. If you have a lot of images in the cloud, it could take awhile. Make sure you have a good internet connection. Also, make sure the hard drive the images are downloading too has enough space available. By default, LrC downloads the files to your Pictures folder, but you can change the location in the preferences.

LrC requires images in the catalog to live on a hard drive. When you turn on sync, LrC acts like a vacuum and downloads the images it finds in Lr cloud.
Removing images from LrC doesn't necessarily delete them from the hard drive where they were downloaded to. Also, it won't delete them from the cloud.
If you want to, you can delete your LrC catalog, and the photos it downloaded without affecting the photos in the cloud.

When you open the image with "copy" and save it with your edits, the file should get renamed to -edit.tiff. Your screen capture shows that both versions have the same name. This tells me that you did not actually edit a copied image. Instead, you edited the original jpeg and those edits are reflected in the virtual copy.

Try manually copying your images from the card to a hard drive first. Then open LrC add import them with the Add method.
LrC doesn't upload pictures to the catalog. When you import from a card they are first copied to your computer's hard drive, and then they are added to the catalog. The copy may be stalled for several different reasons. Manually copying the images removes LrC from the equation and makes it easier to trouble shoot the problem.

Virtual copies in Lightroom Classic are exactly that. They are a virtual copy, not a duplicate. A virtual copy allows for a different set of edits to the same image. LrC edits are a non-destructive set of instructions, meaning the edits live in the LrC catalog, not in the image file..
There is one image file on your hard drive, and two sets of edits in LrC. When you opened the image and edited in Photoshop, you edited the one image. That is why both versions reflect the Photoshop edits, because they are both the same image.

This isn't a new feature request. This is something that used to work great but has been broken since the "new" Express was released. How long has that been now?
I used to be a huge fan of Express Webpages. In 2018 I taught three sessions of a well attended lab at Adobe MAX, Storytelling with Lightroom and Express. I haven't built an Express Webpage since the feature was removed.
I added my vote to the "feature request" site. This is my second time voting for it, because Webpage feature request was recently moved to a new link. I assume this effectively reset the vote count. I'm so disappointed, and I've lost any hope the feature will be brought back.

You can't share libraries, but you can keep all of your albums, edits, and other metadata. Here's how:
1. Create a new Lightroom Classic catalog when you first launch the application. By default the catalog will be created in the Pictures folder. This is fine if you have plenty of space on your startup drive.
Don't import any photos.
2. Open the Lightroom preferences, Lightroom Sync tab. Choose a location for your images. The Pictures folder is selected by default. You don't want this because your 50K images will fill up the computer's startup drive.
3. Change the location to an external hard drive. I recommend buying a new hard drive with lots of storage space. Here's more info about syncing: Scroll down to "Set Lightroom Preferences". https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/lightroom-mobile-desktop-features.html
4. Turn on Lightroom Sync, found in the cloud icon (upper right corner).
5. Leave it run for awhile. All of your images in Lightroom's cloud will download to dated folders on the external hard drive. All metadata is added to the catalog. Lightroom's Albums become Lightroom Classic Collections.
After the sync is complete, you can delete the images in the cloud.
6. Import new images to Lightroom Classic, not Lightroom. Make sure new imported photos are copied to the external hard drive, not the Pictures folder.

Yes. The information resides in the cloud. That is what I have been saying all along. Is it possible the deleted photos are still in the deleted album. They stay there for 60 days (I think) before they are permanently deleted. Use the Lightroom app, or Lightroom on the web to restore whatever is in the deleted collection.

Sync a Lightroom Classic catalog to Lightroom and all metadata will be pulled into the Classic catalog. From there she can fix any broken links to the images.

Until just this month, Lightroom required images to be in a Cloud. Lightroom is a cloud. Choosing the option to store images on a local device creates a synced copy. It does NOT move the files out of the cloud.
Are you certain your daughter used Lightroom and not Lightroom Classic?
Have you logged into Lightroom at lightroom.adobe.com?

That makes sense. because exporting from LrC creates a new file. There are options for what size file you want. The image from Lightroom is the original.

Make sure you have the Lightroom tab selected, center bottom of screen.
In the upper left corner of the image grid it probably says All photos. Tap here to select Lr camera photos.

To migrate settings you have to turn on the sync in Lightroom Classic. Turning on the sync will also download all of the images that are in the Lightroom cloud because Classic requires images to be on a local drive. It's a bit confusing until you understand how the Lightroom ecosystem works. Here's more information, https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/lightroom-mobile-desktop-features.html

The good news is that Lightroom stores master files and edits in the cloud, not on a hard drive. The NAS drive had a local sync of the cloud, because local storage was turned on in the Lightroom preferences. Now the NAS is gone and Lightroom is still looking for it. Go to Lightroom preferences, local storage tab, and change the location by browsing to the new drive. Or, simply turn off the local storage. It's not needed for backup. Local storage allows you to work on your images without a good internet connection.
Here's more information about local storage. https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/preferences.html#:~:text=dialog%20in%20Lightroom.-,Choose%20Edit%20%3E%20Preferences%20(Win)%20or%20Lightroom%20%3E%20Preferences%20(,choose%20your%20network%20drive%27s%20path.

I would try creating a new document. Copy and paste the art into a new Illustrator document. Do any edits that are needed in the new document. Then copy and paste it back into Photoshop. Delete the original problem smart object.
This could fix it if the problem originated with the Illustrator smart object document. If the new smart object crashes too, then you have a system problem, not a file problem.

Here's another way to see what is edited. While you are in the edit mode, look at the very right edge. A small circle denotes that the image has an edit in that specific edit panel.

If you have a paid subscription, all photos you add to Lightroom on your phone are uploaded to the Lightroom cloud. You can view your Lightroom cloud at lightroom.adobe.com. Sign in with the same credentials you use on the phone.
Photos in your Lightroom cloud will automatically show up in the Lightroom app on your laptop (assuming you use Lightroom and not Lightroom Classic).
To add photos to Lightroom on your phone:
tap the Lightroom icon bottom center of the screen
tap the picture icon in the blue oval shape
tap Device
drag to select the images
tap Add

It would be wonderful if all printers would print RGB files. Unfortunately many of them have older equipment that doesn't handle the color conversion accurately.
Here's how I would handle converting a Fresco file to CMYK for this situation.
For all blacks, use vector brushes, or text. All the other colors can be vector or pixel.
Send the Fresco file to Adobe Illustrator from the app.
Change the document color mode to CMYK with Illustrator. (Ask your printer which CMYK profile you should use).
After the file is converted to CMYK, use Illustrator's Recolor Art to change all the black vector to 0,0,0,100.
Save the file as a PDF.
Send the PDF to the printer

Lightroom Classic syncs to the cloud with Smart Previews. These are available to edit on an iPad. The edits will sync back to Lightroom Classic. This is the workflow I use. All of my master images reside on external hard drives. Only smart previews, and mobile phone images are in the cloud.
Lightroom Classic has a bit of a learning curve though. It's easier to understand if you have good file management skills.
You may want to migrate your Lightroom library to a Lightroom Classic catalog. Here's an article to help with that. https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-move-from-lightroom-cloud-to-lightroom-classic/

Sounds like you need to be using Lightroom Classic.
With Lightroom, the master file is always in the cloud. The locally stored copy is really only necessary when you need to work on images without internet connection. If you delete an image in the cloud, it will also delete the locally stored copy.
