Strangely enough it did print another document in full color. So something was wrong with that one; what I have no idea. I used Photoshop instead to print it out and will hope for the best for the future.

The output is set to RGB. Is that what you mean? For a while it was printing greyish green; now just grey. Photoshop prints full color.

Photoshop prints in color, so it is not a printer problem but an InDesign/Acrobat problem.

InDesign suddenly stopped printing in RGB; instead the entire document is printing in a strange greenish grey ; now it is grey scale. I have selected RGB output. This started soon after I tried multiple times to print a double sided document; the color was fine but the position was not. Then it turned into monochrome. I saved it as a PDF and printed from Acrobat; it prints grey. Photoshop prints correctly.

But think of the fun the engineers have with "upgrading" and "improvements" that create the huge waste of time and frustrations you mention. they do have to justify their jobs, after all. It's just that listening to the customer base isn't part of them.

No plist, but I deleted the enclosing folder and it seems to have reset the preferences. Fingers will remain crossed, despite the difficulties of using the computer with them that way.

Thanks. I think this started happening after I made the mistake of upgrading my Apple desktop computer to Sequoia. (I've tried without success to go back). I don't know how to make a screen recording, unfortunately. It happens very quickly.

Yes, I made the mistake of updating the system. I'm going to go back to the previous one, I think. There are other problems with Sequoia; things Apple seems to think are cool but are a pain in the neck (and other places).

Following up my previous post, I have realized the screen blanks out when I press the cursor for any reason: moving an object, editing text, etc. It makes using InDesign extremely difficult. Any ideas as to why this is happening? I'm starting to wonder if my computer has been infiltrated, but no problems found with scans for malware.

Yes, in desperation that is what I did. I have realized that when I click the cursor to edit text everything vanishes for a moment. Something seems to be seriously wrong. Perhaps it's the new Apple system. Perhaps not.

Usually when i've drawn a picture box I can select a jpeg from a folder and drag it into the picture box. I thought this was the InDesign elements behave; they did yesterday. Everything vanishes when I try to drag and move it. IndDesign 20.0 on a MAC with the Sequoia system. Where can find the GPU preferences to disable?

I have placed a PDF into an ID document. Now I want to add picture boxes on top of it. When I draw one, the PDF image vanishes. If I am successful and it remains, when I try to drag an image into it again everything disappears, or the image I am trying to drag doesn't go into the box. I can search for images to place them, but dragging is (or used to be) much simpler.

I will have to incorporate the attached formula into an InDesign document. Is there a fairly easy way to "set" such a formula directly in the program? I'm using the Garamond Premier fonts. If necessary I'll just put it in as art (probably the simplest method).

Thanks, Barb and James. I have bookmarked these answers in my browser so I can come back to them. I am not sure how I'd set up the page numbering. I did have to go back and reset the chapters' section numbers to begin on succeeding pages, so I must not have had it set correctly. The numbering was not automatically consecutive. For its next trick ID started duplicating part of the last section when I made a PDF, so there were two copies of some of the pages. As a book designer for over forty years and a constant reader I'm a little surprised at the idea that new chapters always start on right/recto pages. Some of the books I designed did so, but it was always when there was a special treatment required. New parts usually began on a right, but sometimes they had their own spread.
