I tried for a while to get them to make the keyboard commands the same, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. I still would love this feature in mobile/lightroomcc, keyboard z for zoom, flagging same as LrC, and brush size adjustments, and slider adjustments via plus and minus key.

Thanks for the quick response. I too use Lightroom Mobile, with keyboard attached sometimes, and there still isn't a way to adjust exposure or any of the sliders via key press. Which for a casual user, to use their fingers to move sliders around on one or two images is fine, but as soon as you add hundreds/thousands of images, its extremely inconsistent. Yes LrClassic exist for that, but since I leave my main computer with LrClassic with ~100TB of photos at home, and while working abroad, use Lightroom mobile/CC with sync'd catalog to cull/edit, this change would boost my productivity considerably. Currently I only use mobile/CC for culling. Which is a missed opportunity. Again thanks for the official answer, perhaps other photographers who manage their image catalog wholly within the Adobe ecosystem will chime in and have similar difficulties. But I get a feeling most will download Lr Mobile or CC on their laptop & phone, and just give up and uninstall before voting, because of its non-cohesive shortcuts and UI to its Classic counterpart. ps. Photoshop is beginning to implement a lot of the simple UI behavior such as double clicking on a slider will snap the adjustment to center, which was originally in LrC first. Additionally Adobe could appease dissatisfied customers of other platforms by harmonizing the KBSC, could just allow them to re-map their KBSC like Photoshop with their preferred buttons, if it were an option.

Hi @Mark.Dahm perhaps you could point this idea/possibly bug in attention to appropriate devs please? It would be AMAZING to have + & - keys to be able to adjust exposure & other sliders.

@Mark.Dahm you can easily replicate the inability to have the "layer compression: zip" option being stickied in both mac and PC on my end. If you have a layered TIF, that is bigger than 4GB, it will behave that way. @Stephen Marsh was just trying to use the scripting function to have it save, but while his script succeeds, it locks up the program by displaying the saving dialog, instead of the background save (regardless of the check mark in save in background) To sum it up: Original Problem: My TIFF files exceed 4GB often. Photoshop displays error, and suggests to save as PSB. I usually cancel that dialog, as PSB saves to wrong folder too (its a bug documented elsewhere). So after cancel, I proceed to Save As, and click on "layer compression: ZIP". Then it succeeds save. This takes far too many clicks. I wish it to "sticky" default to "layer compression:ZIP" no such option current PS. Second problem: Lightroom doesn't natively edit/handoff to Photoshop as PSB. Only TIFF/PSD. This whole problem could be solved if Lightroom Classic gives the option to Edit as PSB. Third problem: Using scripting we were able to get it to save as TIFF ZIP + Layer Compression: ZIP. But it no longer saves in the background. Useful, but sort of taking two steps forward and one step back. I am currently opening all the images I want to work on, in photoshop, and using this script, to save all the files as the TIFF ZIP + Layercompression ZIP. and then going forward and using regular save. Pretty cumbersome, but better than the original problem. This doesn't take into account the space savings. LayerCompression ZIP TIFF are sometimes half the size. I wish layercompression setting would "stick" for all future saves. Hope that makes sense.

yes we have, it doesn't work as described few posts above, and the script helped but it doesn't save in background. I guess we can't have our cake and eat it too?

to get that "save in background" to come up, I just saved normally, Ctrl+S, to initiate default save. The "progress" window is with the script you provided.

thank you @Bojan Živković , problem with this is, that I have to point it to the folder I want it saved, by manually clicking away to find the folder. Compared to just hitting save, and having it automatically save to the parent folder that the original RAW came from. The script that @Stephen Marsh provided works beautifully, cept the dialog I can't get rid of.

This worked absolutely beautifully! I assigned it to a function key, and using that as a save. I modified it a lil to have "-Edit" to follow the LrC naming convention for Photoshop edited images. Is there a command to get the save dialog to be in the background? like here: vs the dialog that prevents me from moving to a different image to work on: Thank you so much for this, this will improve my workflow a bunch already.

Okay. So this proposed workaround involves these steps with the modal icon enabled: Hit the action button, vs the Ctrl-S It's saving to a last known file's open folder, known "bug" in "https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-ideas/p-add-psb-as-a-file-format-for-external-editing/idi-p/12248492" So I have to click on the top bar to find the correct folder, and click on that folder to enter it. I must click on File name box, to rename the file from the action's saved name, hit enter. I think I'm gonna stick with save-as (ctrl-shift-s) and wait for the TIF save box to come up, and hit layer compression "zip" button. Its less steps. Unless i'm doing something else wrong, and I'm not sure what you mean by "use a script to default to the required ZIP and other save options, including using the current path and filename." I'm a photographer, not a computer scientist 😅

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/saving-as-tif-how-to-set-default-as-zip/m-p/14275536#M768689 I too am running into this issue with PSB being ideal container for edited photographs with many layers exceeding 4GB. I am also running into the issue of Photoshop not saving to the original folder from which LrC sent the image from, and requiring far too many user intervention and impedes workflow.

here's the behavior: Since I have created the Save-As PSB action with that one specific file, it will keep writing, any and all image to that file when ran. 😅

Sort of weird behavior, I'm assuming it is my fault? I have successfully made "SaveAsPSB" action, and it does work, but the files won't save as the original name, but rather, the last image name I created the action with, is the one that keeps getting saved to. Is there a way to get it to take the original image name and just add "-Edit" at the end? Thank you for helping with this, as I agree, TIFF as ZIP is a stopgap as the raw files get larger and larger.

ok I must have been under a rock, I did not know an action could be created for saving files. I already use a macro-capable keyboard to customize a lot of the shortcuts/scripting, so let me attempt right now, and report back! Many thanks @Conrad_C

@Stephen Marsh I just hopped on my m2 mbp, and it exhibits the same behavior as my PC. All screen shots below are from the mac. right here I have to manually click on the ZIP layer compression every time. and it won't remmeber/be permanent. This is even in Lightroom Classic, external editing tab, has the TIFF ZIP compression turned on. @Conrad_C Thank you so much for your input. A lot of times, I have 50-100s of images open in photoshop, to work as a big batch, and I just keep going to the next tab for next photo to work on while the previous photos "slow save" in TIF. I'd just love the option of it saving as layer-zip, or save as PSB, without any interaction from me, so i can keep continuing to focus on working on the next image, like you stated.

ok, so I decided to dive into this further tonight. I'm running Adobe LrC 13.0.2. and Adobe Photoshop Beta 25.4.0 Based on the few comments here about PSB, I went into LrC preferences and changed the external editing file preference like this: I initially thought PSD is same as PSB. I found this out little later that i was wrong. My work flow typically, I do the ACR/LR adjustments in the Lightroom Classic, and right click and edit-in... Photoshop: For this test, I took this image, and expanded the image using the AI crop tool, to give it some file size, and did my usual layer work flow on it. original is 5760x8640, and resulting image is 8086x12129. And then, I saved it, and it gave me an error that the image exceeded the 2GB limit for PSD. So I saved it as PSB as it suggested, and lo-and-behold, LrC recognized the PSB, and stacked the images automatically. And then, I tried to replicate the TIF saving issue where it exceeds 4GB, and when I attempted to save it as uncompressed TIF with uncompressed layers it did the same error, suggesting to save as PSB. The problem here, is why, within the Lightroom preference panel for external editing, there is only PSD or TIFF. Obviously PSB is the ideal choice here, but is there anyway to have the Lightroom default to PSB for external editing? Also is there any way to make the Photoshop default to compress ZIP and Layer ZIP in TIF? So when I have ~50-100 images open in photoshop, going through my workflow, and constantly get interrupted by these error messages, and I have to manually hit OK, and save as PSB or hit Cancel and Save As, and hit the layer compression ZIP radio button. Perhaps @Mark.Dahm can point me in the right direction?

I fail to understand why the duration of the save matters for the question? Im' trying to figure out how to save over 4GB layered photoshop document in TIF, to be able to select default to ZIP, instead of dragging the mouse around to click the radio button on screen everytime.

Hi! My workflow in Photoshop has always been non-destructive. Just incase I want to come back, to revisit edits. So I save all the layers, and never flatten. With the ever growing size of raw on these newer cameras, I've been hitting the 4GB limitation for layered TIF, even if compression is ZIP. I've found that enabling Layer Compression to ZIP always gets me under the 4GB limit to get it to play nice in my workflow. Is there a way to set default behavior of Layer Compression to ZIP? I'm tiring of having to Save As, and hitting the ZIP option. Thank you! P.S. is there a better way to use an alternative format like PSB, and have the Lightroom Classic catalog/stack it by default? I rely on LrC a lot, so that would be a requirement.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qny1jg46Z3s Been editing for good hour+: 1. It appears to run much faster because they must have fixed some kind of race condition. 2. No more issues with non-displaying photos. Good job Lightroom Classic Team. Albeit it took far too long for us who have been on the #strugglebus working around this bug for two months... Fix is certainly welcome, and it works.

I've posted about this issue many many times. Z on LrC is zoom, but LrCC it is "Pick". Also there is no keyboard shortcut for adjusting sliders such as exposure by plus/minus keys like found in LrC. Frustrating for a guy like me, who go back and forth between LrC with its catalog sync'd to the cloud, and to using LrCC for travel. https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-ecosystem-cloud-based-ideas/p-keyboard-shortcut-customization/idc-p/14223321#M9835 They "declined" the above request to match or make shortcuts customizable.

Given Adobe's lack of response to this "feature" that makes LrC difficult for us professional users... I've resorted to making a macro shortcut on my programmable keyboard, when its in Lightroom, when I hit the next arrow key, it does the "right, left, right" with 50ms delay to get past the non-display "feature".... Ridiculous.
