A year and a few months later with a promise the engineering was looking into it and yet no change. I think it is reasonable to assume that this is expected behavior and that for many if not most use cases the "object aware" option is non-operational. I don't love the "color aware" either but it's all we have and I use it 99% of the time.

@davescm This is extremely unhelpful. Why post this reminder without pointing out what the issue is Passive aggressive bot-posted nonsense like this should be against community standards.

I think the issue in the example in the video is that you are not selecting the shadow cast by the object you want removed. If you don't select it, the shadow will be left in the image. And if it is left in the image then something has to be casting it. All those attemps are photoshop trying to create something that would cast that shadow. Solution: select shadows cast by theobject along with the object you want to remove.

Docking the options bar definitely works. BUT.... When you dock it and then open a drop down in the options bar (tool options at the far left is the obvious example) the drop down is hidden by any palettes you have there. Rendering the drop down useless. Unless you take the time to move the pallette, make your selection, and then move the pallette back. Which you don't want to be doing multiple times a day. This seems like an obvious UI bug but so does the overlapping of elements on the options bar when not docked. Obvs not a high priority for Adobe right now.

As of today I am no longer getting the spam update workflow block popup. Was there a server side update? Praying so.

I know the mods are going to move this to another thread but I feel like if we all posted something lilke this every few minutes here then maybe the mods, and by extension Adobe would understand how it feels to be interrupted in your workday by what is essentially an ad telling you that you're doing it wrong. Your enterprise customers pay you thousands per month. They know when it's the right time to update. You are insulting us all and needlessly angering employees who have no say in the matter. And making you look so very very second rate and tone deaf. Pile on fellow users, don't stand for this. Post your own new thread until they implement a server side retraction.

Bumping this to point out that there has been silence on this thread from Adobe for 20 days now. That makes those annoying "update" popups that we are now dealing with especially insulting. Can we expect some communication about progress with this issue from Adobe?

Not only am I only 1 version behind but I was advised by engineers in this very forum to continue using that version until some kinks can be worked out in some features I use. Professionals paying to use this product all day every day should not be subjected to this. It's amatuerish and for many of us, upgrading is not a user decision, it's a company IT decision.

This is especially infuriating since they took the usual money out of my account just today as it is the first day of the month. Why now after all these years of paying them and using their products?

Not sure if this is a bug, or a missing feature, or if Im missing something. Say I use face aware liquify to change eye shape on a pixel layer. When I have "show mesh" active it properly shows the altered mesh after I make my adjustments. As I do with any liquify move, I may need to subsequntly apply the same mesh to any masks affecting that part of the image. But "load last mesh" or even loading the manually saved mesh has no effect on the mask. On "normally created" meshes (i.e. not face aware) it is easy to apply the mesh to all applicable masks but for some reason meshes created with face aware tools will not apply itself to masks. Is this a bug? Intended beahivior? An oversight on my part?

@MeredithStotzner Thanks so much for the effort at both remedying this and communincating with us. I and many others surely appeciate the communication especially. The change I noticed was upon starting work Monday the 18th (morning EST). I don't have examples I'm sorry to say, the work passes by so quickly and I usually just merge my results and move on quickly. I will try to remember to set aside any notable quirks next time, but I am limited in what I can share as the work is not my own but that of my clients.

Definitely seconding this. Something flipped, it more resembles the initial rollout of firefly 3. Just when I was ready to go to the new 26.1 I'm gonna need to roll back to 25.

I don't know if something has changed recently again or not but using "remove" in 2025 seems to be producing halluinagenic results again. Was good up until this morning. @MeredithStotzner

My experience is if you select two consecutive layers and use Command-E the layers will merge and take the name of the top layer, but that if you select just one layer and use Command-E that layer will be merged into the one below and take the name of the bottom layer. Also if I am not mistaken, it's not just the name that is retained but also the history of the layer for the purposes of the history brush. In the above example using the history brush in the first instance will enable brushing to history of the top layer and in the second example you wil be able to brush to the history of the bottom layer.

Docking the options bar worked for me. I do not use the applications frame. I have a two monitor setup with all pallettes on the second monitor which is to the right of the main. When I dock the options bar (grab it at the very left to move it, jiggle it a bit near the menu bar until a blue line appears, then let go), the cursed share button along with notifications and other stuff (c'mon already Adobe) that is never used goes way way off to the far right margin, I can hardly see them any more, which is great!

Thank you @MeredithStotzner for addressing this. I have redownloaded 26.0.0 and found that indeed textures are better so far. For example I was extending the tiny ribbed pattern of a t shirt into an area that was slightly out of focus and the result was improved over the previous version when using a null prompt. But it took a few tries to get one without a stray button or zipper or something being added (on a garment that had no buttons or zippers). I may burn through my credits even quicker this motnh....

@S Nielson I wonder what is happening that our experiences are so different. I have yet to have a good result from a blank prompt in photoshop 2025, yet "remove" almost always helps. Though nothing so far has been as good as simply reverting to 2024. Can others chime in with their comparisons?

Thanks @S Nielson for responding and acknowledging. I would have to disagree strongly with the blank prompt suggestion though. In my experience the blank prompt is MORE likely to produce a salamander or a red pepper or a tiara etc.... I have been having more success with just simply using the word "remove." This seems to quell the hallucinatory results.

Having this issue exactly. Wake up Adobe. People have breasts and we have to retouch the material that clothes them, just the same as bellys ankles and elbows.

Here to chime in that specifically from a professional retouching point of view Gen Fill has stepped futher back than the first beta. Smudges, loss of texture, no ability to continue objects, danger of a lizard or wizard or gizzard or blizzard showing up unexpectdly, as if anyone would want this kind of imagery returned. I'm glad thre is an easy workaround (downgrade) but I am perplexed as this was noted and seemingly ignored in the recent beta. And as important as Gen Fill has become in a professional workflow (client expectations have gone through the roof this year), it has rendered every other improvement in 2025 moot, as it makes no sense to have 2025 open your psds only to have to close it and open 2024 to use gen fill.

June 27 Beta - the Gnerative Fill response to "remove" has become similar to the response to a null prompt, i.e. it produces creative unwanted (but beautiful) content in place of the removed object. Previous version of beta seemed to differentiate between "remove" and a null argument. It was a beautiful parakeet though....

I was thinking giving the 15 years of clamor for this feature Adobe would at least have given us a little blurb about it before releasing it. Much less the usual version blurb that accompanies a release both in this forum and on the dedicated page.

Following up on this, is there any way to turn off the space+command (on a Mac) zoom function? I am constantly accidentally zooming while navigating my document. Was hoping unchecking the scrubby zoom box in the options bar would do it but alas it was not to be.

Posting here as the original may be hard to find. Here's the workaround for Mac users: When you realize you are frozen du to an invisible dialog box, do NOT blindly hit enter as that may have unwanted repurcussions. Instead hover over the Ps icon inthe dock and option-click it. That cuases the unseen dialog box to become visible and you can dismiss it from there and be on your way.
