I tested a project with no markers and the same issues presented themselves. Also, I'm currently communicating directly with Rach McIntire after speaking with Fergus Hammond about this and was told by Rach that he can recreate the error on both a Mac and PC and is working with the team now to nail down a solution.

Tried Beta 24.5 and I get a lot of warnings about error retrieving frames and frame substituion attempts aborted.

Sony mxf footage (HD 29.97) is not playing back or only with severe lag and Premiere constantly gives warning about frame substitusions. No issues playing back the footage in other programs such as Windows Media Player and Davinci Resolve also plays back flawlessly. Currently in lastest version of Beta Premiere 24.5. A few versions back everything use to work fine but around the time I upgraded to version 23 is when I noticed this. For a short time using the Beta version of 24 it was playing fine and then when 24.5 updated the footage became uplayable again. Just tried the lastest non-beta version 24.3 and it is better but there is still delay after hitting the play button in the timeline of about 1-3 seconds. I have long-gop footage from other camera models like Nikon and even 4k on from that camera plays back fine so I think this something unique to Sony footage. Please look into this issue as Sony cameras are used so widely in video production.

I accidently removed the 2021 version (v15.4.5) while updating and if possible I would like to have it back again. Is there a download link for this version? The main reason I would need to use this version is that I have some computers that can't run higher versions and for some reason this version worked very well with custom mogrts in the essential graphics panel. When I use later versions of Premiere Pro, including the very latest, there is a significant lag when I click on a any essential graphic file in the timeline. Thank you.

After updating to Premiere 24.2.1 from 23.6.4 there is now a delay of approximately 2-3 seconds after hitting the play button when working in the timeline. Also, there is the "error retrieving frame" alert popping up from time to time.
Important to note is I am able to playback and edit the exact same footage in version 23.6.4 with no issues at all.
The issue seems to be unique to footage coming off the Sony Z280.
Footage properties:
Image Size: 1920 x 1080 Frame Rate: 29.97
AVC Long GOP High 4:2:2 Profile 10-bit Unconstrained Coding Bitstream Format: Sony Class 35
Again, no issues with this footage in Premiere v23.6.4
Just adding to my last post that footage from the Sony FS5 is behaving the same way. HD 29.97 mxf format , class 35. Footage from Nikon Z50 is fine, as is footage from the Blackmagic Pocket 4k.
System specs:
Windows 10
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core
63.9 GB of RAM
Nvidia RTX 2080
