Or maybe we shouldn't have to pay for an additional subscription to add to the industry-standard cataloging software...

I am also having this issue, but none of the recommendations are solving it. It seems pretty ridiculous to have this problem lingering at the same time as Adobe is pushing Cloud adoption.

Conveniently, the partial step back works... but I see that you're about as useful here as you were on the share button threads.

Cool idea, except that the upgrade also upgraded the catalog... and I've done a lot of work since that time. This means I either lose a ton of photos or try to rebuild it. What's your advice then?

No worries. I guess I'm just going to have to sell more pictures to afford a new machine AND lenses. 🤷:male_sign:

The issue comes up with the latest upgrade (12.0.1) and masking. When I try to mask anything, LR crashes out. It is apparently a bug with the AI masking that occurs whenever a user has less than 2gb of dedicated memory, and whether or not the user is using the subject-mask function. Downgrading to v12.0 seems to solve the problem without sending me back to an obsolete version of my catalog.

Interesting. Here's the system info. If I've read the bug reports correctly, there is no solution other than buying a new machine or installing the last version.

Dear Adobe... Why the hell did you cripple older Macs (2+ years old) with the latest "improvements" of Lightroom Classic? Seriously. The new AI features were great while they worked, but I'd trade them in a heartbeat for an upgrade that actually served the needs of all users from those with baseline specs to the most expensive models. Given that I can't upgrade the VRAM without upgrading my computer (not an option when I'm trying to budget for new lenses), does anyone have workarounds to deal with the crash-happy LR12's VRAM issues?

But that isn't really the point here, @Lumigraphics. This is the company's effort to lock users into its ecosystem, plain and simple.

@Kevin Stohlmeyer A couple of relevant facts... Adobe continues to lag other companies, particularly Apple and Google, in its cloud market share and adoption. Its cloud filesharing market share is .17% to Dropbox's 2.87%. The company has stated that its goal is to significantly increase its share of the cloud "Experience" market in the next five years, with aggressive plans to do so. Replacing a functionality that allowed users to share to other platforms with a function that requires use of Creative Cloud looks like an obvious strategy to achieve this growth. There's nothing wrong with companies trying to increase their market share — and Adobe has had some aggressive tactics to do so in the past; the problem is that the corporate line on why they took away the functionality is basically gaslighting.

Correct, @Kukurykus. I've been in MarComms long enough to recognize the tone.

@Kevin Stohlmeyer Forgive me for being skeptical of that answer. The clear direction is to move users to sharing through Creative Cloud, which makes this decision seem much more like a business case than a usage argument. After all, doesn't Adobe's market value increase significantly if its dedicated users also increase? That's essentially what this change attempts to do. If that wasn't the case, why not get rid of the Share button altogether...

Hi @Derek Cross... I am well aware of that, but the point of the Quick Share was NOT having to save a proof or mobile file to the HD, thereby avoiding clutter and extra steps. And if pushing users to the Cloud was not the point, why is the new Share functionality directed to that purpose? The point is that this change is the opposite of streamlining workflows or making file sharing more nimble.

It's utterly ridiculous to push us to use Adobe Cloud for our workflows. I've enver been in a creative situation that has actually worked on a OSFA concept.

Big Sur 11.5 with the latest Photoshop update. It stopped working after the system update, and I thought it might correct after the PS upgrade.

If I'm reading correctly, that's just for the M1 chip. Yet the same issue is happening on my MBP with a Core i5 processor. Any suggestions?
