Hi! First time working with H.265 media. They are barely playable on my old computer, so I created proxies from it (ProRes Medium Resolution). Some files are interviews with audio in file: those had no problem switching to proxies and playing without issues. Other files are product b-roll at high speed and no audio in file. All those files without audio don't switch to proxies (the proxies are created, are attached to the masters, but Premiere doesn't switch to them to use them). I'm behind a NDA so I can't share files for others to test, but is this a known issue? I tested on two computers (an iMac and a Macbook), with the media on a 8-bay RAID TB2 drive, then from an external USB3 SSD and even on the local SSD drive. Same issue all the times. Also tested on Premiere v23.3 and v23.6, again no fix. PS: I ended up transcoding all the footage using 'EditReady' to Apple ProRes 422HQ and use those as my masters.

Sorry for not replying sooner. The h264 file was 720p @ 29,97fps (8bit, 4:2:0, AVC Main@L3.1-CABAC/3Frames). Then I created a high quality ProRes proxy inside Premiere and things improved a bit. but I still have random glitched here and there. Evertyhing went back to normal when I uninstalled Premiere/AfterEffects/MediaEncode and installed v22.5 back for those apps.

Hey Kevin! Sadly I can't find any logs or crash repots from that day. I was working with h264 footage on a 1080p sequence with ProRes422 video previews. Transcoding the h264 inside Premiere to HQ Proxies helped but was not solved. I got better results transcoding them with Media Encoder to Apple ProRes 422 and then importing them the project. But the issue stopped completly the moment I went back to v22.5. Attached is a demo of the glitch that I got. If I remember correctly they showed up randomly through the sequence but always next to a cut. Those two shots are from the same file, they only have a cut in the middle.

Last Monday Premiere updated itself from 22.5 to 22.6.2 on the background... and that Monday was a day to forget. The two main problems I had where glitches everywhere after rendering, and crashes. I had more crashes that day than all 2022 combined. When I realized I was running v22.6.2, I uninstalled Premiere, After Effects and Media Enconder and then installed back v22.5 and now everything went back to normal. M1 Mac Studio, 64GB RAM, 24 Cores GPU, macOS 12.4

Easier solution: download ImageOptim (on Mac, don't know about a Windows alternative), drag and drop the files in there, import the new ones. Looks like this bug has something to do with the image metadata.
