Hi again Bruce, I know about : 1) direct extendscript using visual 2) CEP (I remember using this some times, it is about making a folder containing some js/html files, then loading them inside the PPRO UI though the menus, right?) 3) I don't quite know where this UXP starts or where to find it? Mind giving me the "base" where to start + the "extra" that will let me be able to start using uxp with ppro very rapidly and with ease? Thanks

Lets say I have these: folder 1: img1 img2 folder 2: img1 imgX When importing: via: proj.importFiles([pathToFolder1img1,..pathToFolder2img1.. The projet will contain 2 items called img1, correct? I was wondering if I could rename them as they are being imported somehow? I guess I can only rename them AFTER they have been imported? it is impossible to make them get custom names right when they are being imported?

I believe it's already possible to apply effects, in PPro beta By @Bruce Bullis Oh that's new. Sorry I intended to delete my message before you saw it, but you were too fast. Sorry for the caps I had already removed them while you were answering. Getting some info (despite it being unsupported) made me satisfied a bit, so I wanted to remove this comment haha. Anyway, I want to say and reiterate: "I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY USAGE OF ADOBE scripting, especially qe dom usage that is clearly unsupported" (Btw, even ChatGPT learnt by saying "Adobe does not recommand etc" got that few earlier in the day) One other thing, that extension does not mention qe dom on the official market page, but it indirect (on their personal page), I don't want anything bad to happen to them. Maybe one day I might end up buying it (but I don't intend to, I am going to get all the info from here and from interacting here I hope).

I am not beginning, I have been posting on this forum for a YEAR and half now, lol. I just sent you an email (answer from last year february 2024), No I want to be able to Create a sequence from code, can PPRO UXP DOM do that? If yes and if it can allow me to everyhtign that is "unsupported" then count me in! If I can't then: 1) I don't understand why (Adobe) Gdon't give us a vilable alternative? I want to take the risk of using something that is not recommanded. Just make me sign something so you take no responsibilty on it haha.I want the info exlaing how to want to add an effect through code. And I want this info to notbe behind some kind of 40$ paywall. 2) I never dared to ask, but.. Why is it not recommanded? A) - - > If the answer is because it is instable, then I understand the risk I am dev, I deal with errors all my life, I even burnt a pc doing tests (truly). Let me sign a thing saying I take all responsibility and let me learn to do it without having to pay 40 dollars. B) --> Is it somehow an extension made secretley by an adobe employee as a "side project" to get more money somehow? Why do we have to pay 40$ to get the same amount of info an extention "available on the OFFICIAL adobe market" have? I honestly starting to think about this. I mean if this is unsupported, how comes an extention available on the official market mentions qe dom it? C) --> Is it to prevent competitors froom discovering the codes behind making an editing program and thus avoid creating new competitores? Answer: there are already many other editing tools out there and they are doing well, they don't need qe dom doc to make an editing tool. It only punishes The millions posts here asking for a feature and getting the frustrating response: "This is not supported" Then users ask: Ok how can I automate adding an effect though code? Answer: You can't officially. So frustrating haha. D) - - > If it is because it is from a secret strategy plan from Adobe, where you want to prevent users from forgetting about the UI to using more the codes, hence losing the identity of the PPRO, then I can understand (I know this type of discussions exist internally because I read a report where Adobe was talking about how AI can impact the future of adobe products, it's somehow in the same scope of discussions, you don't want users to change "behaviour"? And want to prevent them doing too much automation?). In that case, let us, RARE users who want to do dev, be able to acces the info the so called "not recommanded" docs, instead of letting us rely on having to pay extra 40 dollars to acces hidden docs? (Page from an supported extenstion existing on the adobe marketplace of extension, yet it is mentioning somethign we are not supposed to use?) SO HOW COME AN UNSUPPORTED Feature, is Promoted in the OFFICIAL adobe market? Is it that bad people learn how to automate everything? Again everything would be so simple if the official uxp dom etc, gave us the same features as the so called "unsupported" features. I mean why on earth is it possible to get the speed of a clip from a track, but not possible to change its speed (Setter)? (SetSpeed) Because there is a risk? Well again I want to take the risk, I am debogging errors on ExtendScript since 1 year and half now. (Ok I paused for a year but still). Note: Sorry I grew attached to PPRO, this message is only made of passion lol.

Hello, I noticed long time ago a tool that offered informations about unsupported and undocumented commands to use with ExtendScript, here (----- I decided to remove the link to it, to not give it free adversitement, but its essentially an extension that costs 40$ and that is easily found within first results of "qe dom" research on google -----) Screenshot of it on the market (I hide its name): Except I still can't and DON'T WANT TO PAY for it. Anyone know where I can find the full list of undocumented and unsupported commands that this 40$ extension hides? I tried to find them with certain commands on Visual Code, but I am not even sure how I did it in the past. And it was kind of difficult, not clear. Thanks

Oh I see my bad, the mention of: - a community guide docs - This project is just for educational purpose only (usually what youtubers write when they want to protect themselves from copyright strike) here: Made it look like a "community" project rather than an official project. Somehow. >can you tell me how to get the "insert times" of each item on a given track time please? If you want the source media time from which the trackItem begins: https://ppro-scripting.docsforadobe.dev/item/trackitem/#trackiteminpoint ...or the sequence time at which the trackItem is placed: https://ppro-scripting.docsforadobe.dev/item/trackitem/#trackitemstart > But what about the opposite? Based on your description, that would be the in point (the first case, above): https://ppro-scripting.docsforadobe.dev/item/trackitem/#trackiteminpoint By @Bruce Bullis Thanks for the answer, I will actually use both. The start to know when they start and be able to do a change afterwards. and The inpoint later.

You know how it is possible to do "copy attributes" then selec many clips and do "paste attributes" to all of them right. I am wondering if its possible to do it to ALL sequences for a given track (for example A1 or v1 or v2 etc)? So lets say i hav 5 sequences, all of them have clips on A1 I want to apply/paste attributes to all "A1" tracks of EVERY sequences Can I?

Hello, can't believe this is actually almost ONE YEAR AGO, should I make a new post or we can continue here? Back to topic: Panels will always include manual interactions correct? I wanted the .bat approach because I want to reduce manual interactions. It is possible, but not recommended, to invoke ExtendScript in PPro, via command line. By @Bruce Bullis How can I do it please? Thanks

Hello, I did not use the API in a long time, feel like I forgot everything. I have to say that the API doc is crazily scarce, I googled and doung the "CEP" stuff , but kept telling myself I think there is another missing file for premiere pro, till this day I am not sure where it is exaclty, I just know i landed on it again by chance here: (https://github.com/Adobe-CEP/Samples/blob/master/PProPanel/jsx/PPRO/Premiere.jsx) It is well hidden! Anyway I also googled this one: https://ppro-scripting.docsforadobe.dev/item/projectitem/, only to discover that 1) it is not an official guide (yet adobe refers to it sometimes here), and 2) it changed aesthetics (it used to be like this one: https://extendscript.docsforadobe.dev/file-system-access/index.html, with long list on the left). Back to the question, can you tell me how to get the "insert times" of each item on a given track time please? I have old code where I took an item then choose where to insert it. But what about the opposite? Meaning I will take an item from the track (including all cut clip, for example a clip from one file I cut into 3 parts), and then get the info about their starting times? (all of them within one track if possible) I need this. Thanks.

I have an idea of an extension similar to the one I described, except that I feel if I mention it as "here is a tool that can help you enhance your PPRO experience", then it's kind of advertising it. Don't see the difference.

Hello,
Is it allowed to share link to:
You extenion even if it is not part of the Adobe Marketplace?
Something like a local useful script that can help users accelerate some work or complement the capabilites of adobe software.
(a very basic example: some script that modify you SRT file, so later on you can enhance your PPRO experience thanks to an external tool that helped the user modify their srt file prior to importing it to PPRO, in that case and similar cases is it okay advertise such tool here?)
2) Even if such tool is paid, and not necessarily available for free?
Thanks.

Ok I think I found it: I simply had to EXPORT into an .xml file, and Now I KNOW what is stucture of a ppro XML. I obtained a sequence.xml . My question is how do I import it an ".xml" "file" inside the project? I tried : 1) classic Import, and it only imports medias, the .xml files are not seen at all. 2) File -> Import => select the sequence.xml => But it imported the ACTUAL sequence (and the items related to it) It did not import the xml file.. as "an xml item" in the project that I could double click they did in their video. So I was wondering if there was a 3)rd method to actually be able to import the xml file.. as an xml file? (unless the import was changed since last versions of PPRO and it is supposed to do that (translate the xml direclty into items) instead of keeping it as a simple .xml file that the user could double click or not)

>Yes, it is possible for PPro to extract caption information from some .xml files. No, in the youtube video it was XML file --> Into text graphics (not captions), in the actual video track. So was that only possible through a 1/3 tier software (and PPRO is not capable opening XML that contain text graphics) or can PPRO open XML files and turn them into text graphics inside video tracks even without other softwares as long as we have a correct XML file?

>Adobe does not support or maintain documentation for other organization's file formats. I undersand, But since it was mentioned in the main website of adobe, I hope dadobe would tell us what the structure of said formats mentioned. I somehow thought PPRO would not recognize an XML file unless it was formatted in a certain way. Maybe I am missing something. >The YouTuber used 3rd party software, which suggests that the feature was not available in PPro I thought he only used a software to make the XML file. And I thought PPRO actually was able to read XML file (translate them into text graphics) So The part where he open an XML file and translate it into a sequence of text files, that is actually somethign PPRO cannot do and only a third partyt software can do? If that's the case, then ok.

What I was looking for is a way to interact with captions, direclty or indireclty, so we stablished there is no API around them, but there might be methods involving PPRO itself that could allow us to interact with the captions. For instance, PPRO ability to read XML files it seems (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWRLDcrOhIA, as mentioend in the other post, at 3:40 ) So this can be used like the following: - Import SRT file from captions (manually) - use a script to modify the srt (indireclty the captions) - If you have useful prior info about the changes needed to be made. - transform the srt into an XML, with your own local script. - Import the XML into PPRO and use it to produce TEXT graphics on a video track (just like the youtuber did) - run the API that can INTERACT WITH TRACK ITEMS, to modify as you see fit Making it possible to actually use the api to interact with the caption (indirectly) All we need to know now is: "How should the XML file be structured?" to be understood by PPRO and be converted into text graphics ? (like it has been done in that youtube video) That's the missing link to achieve interactbility with Captions, and resolving the issue of missing captions api functions.

Adobe itself mentions other formats actually supported for the captions import: All I wanted to know is how should the other formats be structured so PPRE recognize such files and be able to read them? I want to produce files (such as XML) that can be read by ppre, althought yeah SRT could do the job. Now there is something I don't understand, XML files seems to be used for actually different items that captions, more like ACTUAL text graphics, here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWRLDcrOhIA) at 3:40! He somehow was able to use a THIRD PARTY PAID SOFTWARE, to transform captions into .. xml file that is translated into : text graphics. is that a some feature in PPRO? Being able to open XML files to insert items in the video and audio tracks?

Hello thanks for the answer, 1) When will UXP be available approximately? Will the lines of codes I am using with project items/track items continue working when UXP is here? 2) I see work area having 3 types, tell me if My assumption is correct: - 0: Starts from t0 even if there is empty gaps at the beginning - 1: Obtain an output that takes all the items between IN and OUT (even empy gapes located before or after the present items as long as they are part of the in-out) - 2: Only the area located between the first item and the last item? Which constitures a "work area" unless I am missing something?

Hello I checked this page (https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/working-with-captions.html) And it says that the supported files are SRT.. (expected).. but also XML etc. I know how SRT are made: It's: a number, the timecode, then the text, then an empty line! But I have NO IDEA what an xml captions file looks like? I checked this (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Subtitle_Format) But I am sure this is not it. I would like to have some guidance on what is the form of the files expected as entry for the "Import captions from file" function please? How is the XML structured? (For now only XML is of interest, but any other format information is welcome aswell, why not)

Hello,
Is there any code API, that allow you to convert all captions into graphics somehow?
_
Otherwise, is it possible to program a code that transforms them into text graphics?
The problem is I looked at my project.prproj and its giberrish, I cannot identify where are the text graphics I had to see How I can reproduce them.
In any case I need a solution.
What can we do?
Thanks
