Hi Community, I've filenames like YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS_D750.NEF, and others like YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS_MS_D750.NEF (extended with milliseconds). I want to find (not batch rename, not find and replace, just find and display) only filenames with the milliseconds extension. Works easily in Windows Explorer search with wildcards ("*_??_*") but not in the Bridge search. So Bridge search cannot be used with well known wildcards? Thanks for your feedback or ideas for a workaround. Martin

Yes, I'm about to figure some additional criteria out, like label or s.th., and add them to the SC. Will find a solution. Thx for you help and advice, Erik.

Thx Erik. But with this again you create a fixed collection, which merely consists of manually assigned single images - consistent, not smart. The idea was to create a fixed collection which consists of (1) a basic smart collection - updating itself automatically, based on keywords assigned to images - and (2) of a few manually deployed images, depending on the customers demands. -And I learnt that this does not work.

Hi Community, encountered the same problem (not being able to add/ edit metadata to mov-files). And it seems to appear inconsistently. After some back and forth it looks like the file is being blocked by the Adobe dynamiclinkserver.exe. Killing the process in Taskmanager (Windows) brings back the ability to write metadata in the mov-file. This worked for me. Good luck! Martin

Hi Community, the title says it all. Is there a way to make a smart collection part of a fixed collection? Drag and drop does not seem work. Background: usually I create a basic smart collection about an event. The selection criteria is based on a specific keyword. And every now and then I need to extend this basic collection with some more selected shots for other customers. Adding this specific keyword is no solution - afterwards I will have to remember the added shots and have to remove the keyword. Adding another temporary keyword is no solution as well - keyword handling in Bridge is as challening as brain surgery.... it's just too easy to mess them all up. So I strictly want to avoid unnecessary operational keywords. My idea was to just temporarily create a fixed collection, add the smart basic collection, and add some more selected shots for my purpose. When I don't need the fixed collection any more I just delete it. No keyword messing up, the basic smart collection remains untouched. Thanks for your comments and ideas!! Bridge 14.1, Windows 11 Pro

PITA is confirmed. And no, didnt't get it to work in the Command Window. But I did get it to work in the EXIFToolGUI, which means that it is perfectly scripted. Is the preferable way to use the command line anyway. Thanks Lumigraphics!

Ah, ok. Got the panel opening in Bridge 11 with CTRL key (not in 14, as you said). Entered the same code as you did (except changing ' into ", I'm on Windows). And produced a compiling error in vbstemp.vbs ("syntax error at position 166") Which is position 166? It's the $ ? vbstemp.vbs: CreateObject("Wscript.Shell").Run "powershell -NoLogo -NoProfile -Command Start-Process -FilePath 'exiftool' -ArgumentList '-P_in_place "-XMP-xmpMM:PreservedFileName<${filename;s/\.[^.]*$//}" -execute "-filename<${DateTimeOriginal;s/://g;s/ /_/g}${SubSecTimeOriginal}_${model;s/(^.+ )(.+)/$2/}.%e" -common_args -r -overwrite_original \""C:\Users\User\Pictures\Directory\Test\_DSC6510.JPG\""' -RedirectStandardOutput 'C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp\exiftemp.txt' -WindowStyle Minimized", 0, True Ok, now I'm lost ... No need to take this up, if you don't want to chew the bone. I'm completely fine with all your help given so far and I've the millisec and renaming problem solved perfectly. Thanks very much once again!

Hi Lumigraphics, very sorry, but unfortunetely I couldn't get your script RunEXIFTool to work. What did I do: - some time ago installed Exiftool (located: "C:\Windows\exiftool.exe"; "C:\Windows\exiftool_files\"). - tested codes provided above by Stephen with ExiftoolGUI direct, and they worked perfectly - downloaded your script Run EXIFTool from the Dropbox, download directly as *.jsx, no renaming necessary - copied into Bridge2024/Startup Scripts folder - started Bridge, Bridge asks for approval of new script, yes - Preferences/ Startup Scripts show correctly installed script - Switched to content panel, selected 3 test files, right click, Run EXIF Tool is offered as new option. So far, so good. - click - and nothing happens, no new panel comes up, no hidden window either. What do I miss here? Sorry to bother again. Thanks!!

Hi Lumigraphics, Hi Stephen, yes, scripting could be a solution, hm, but sounds rather complex for my little expertise... At the beginning of the story was my request to keep the correct order of Continuous High shots after renaming, that couldn't be seperated via HHMMSS metadata. The idea was to solve that issue via adding millisec. This approach revealed the bug with the 000s, so no solution from there. Then the point appeared that it matters where you start selecting the files for renaming, top or bottom, to achieve correct order. Now I figured out the following process to get what I want, lean enough and working for me: 1. Select the whole bunch of original NEF files in the directory to be renamed. Be sure not to select any single file prior to CTRL + A. Or either if you only want to select some files in the directory, be sure to select the one at the top (first shot of the series) and arrow down. 2. Batch rename (my pattern: yyyymmdd_hhmmss_cam.NEF). After that 90% of my files are correctly renamed and in good order. Few files look like yyyymmdd_hhmmss_cam (1).NEF, ... (2).NEF etc., when Bridge needs to additionally separate files. 3. One file out of the group doesn't have an additional number, which is the first one of the quick shots. Manually attach a (0) to this file. 4. 2nd Batch Rename procedure with a Regex String Substitution for this group of files only. Regex Code: (Find) (\d{8})_(\d{6})_([A-Za-z0-9]+) \((\d+)\) (Replace) $1_$2_$4_$3 ChatGPT created the code for me 🙂 5. Result: yyyymmdd_hhmmss_0_cam.NEF, yyyymmdd_hhmmss_1_cam.NEF, which brings this group of files in exact the right order when sorted by file name. 6. Remark: why not placing the counter at the end? Because I use manually attached counters at the end for duplicates when they are substantially edited (intense crop, change of format, etc.) Works for me like a charm.

And another follow up: I would say it's superbuggy! Rename procedure, as you did, with the original JPGs, and same result as yours: millisec reflected. Same procedure with original NEFs: you get 000s and milliseconds are gone.

Hi Stephen, thx for reproducing this issue. Tricky one to detect. Could you please try to reproduce the described sorting bug as well (pls see above: 1. to 7., select original files one after the other, one time starting from the top and arrow down, the other time starting from the bottom and arrow up, each time then batch rename the selected 3 files with a sequence number - and can you reproduce different results in sequencing?) !!THX!!

Hi Stephen, I dropped the files on this website - perhaps too big. Now I uploaded the 3 files, downsized in JPG and original metadata embedded, on this forum's website in the drag&drop field. Hope this works. Thx.

It seems to be really weird. If using the numeric sequence as (last) step of the Batch Rename operation the resulting sequence order seems to be dependent on the sequence you select the files to be processed. In other words: 1. These are the files out of the camera. As you can see in the thumbnail, I focused the left edge of the book and moved the camera to the right, shutter release in Continuous High 2. Now shift + click to select 6510, and hold shift + arrow down to select 6511 and 6512 as well. All three are selected. 3. Batch Rename 4. Result: correct sequence, first shot is placed first. 5. Now different approach: shift + click to select 6512, shift + arrow up to select 6511 and 6510 as well 6. Identical Batch Rename procedure 7. Result: inverted sequence, i.e. first shot (book to the far right) placed last. Sorry, but this is strange, isn't it? Or else, what do I miss?

Yes, I tried this numerical sequence option, but doesn't work either. Bridge puts the files in upside down order: 1 - 2024-09-28 10:20:28.98 2 - 2024-09-28 10:20:28.65 3 - 2024-09-28 10:20:28.49 (extracted from file info, origin). This is why I'd like to add the millisec. Seems to be the only chance to get the correct order via sorting by file name, when HHMMSS are the same. Thank you guys for your help.

Hello Community, filenames out of the camera are set as _DSC1.* _DSC2.*, _DSC3.* … My Batch Renaming procedure includes MMSS to ensure right chronological sequence: (Another text line not shown, as last step to add model). What I get is: So Milliseconds are reflected as 000 in the renaming procedure although they are included in the metadata: File info: How do I get this to work correctly? Result should be: 20240928_102028980_D750 These issues have been reported earlier Adobe Bridge Batch rename - issues to include mill... - Adobe Community - 12519842 but doesn’t seem to be fixed yet? Hello Bridge Community, is there a smart way to find (or filter) only those images that contain (automatically) applied GPS metadata? I found "Altitude" in the advanced search dropdown but nothing more. The search task should reveal all images which have Latitude and Longitude in the metadata attached. Thanks for your ideas!! @all. Thx all for your thoughts! In a nutshell, we are talking about tagging "all" files with an explicit flag (keyword, whatever). Then a negative search for this flag will reveal the locked files because these haven't been tagged - because they are locked. Very good. Thanks for your help!! M
