I have had this issue since a Windows 11 OS update, roughly about April of 2024. I have to manually download my files from the Adobe CC, and then open them, and save them locally from that point on. Nothing syncs on the cloud anymore. I can still make share-able links for viewing though.

I think the key take-away is that knowing the prinicples of design is much more important than knowing any specific software. The principles of design can be used and abused on any software, and all software will change or expire at some point. Me, personally, I still use Dreamweaver. It seems useful enough for my purposes of making WordPress themes. I don't need anything more advanced. I also still use XD, but I did make a small design for a new software feature in Pen Pot recently, just to make just I could try something new. I still plan on doing my main big projects on XD. I nearly tried doing a small design on Figma, but man, I already have too many subscriptions. I really can't take on another. I have even been canceling some. I'd be most happy if Adobe could quit investing in Artificial Intelligence and just knock down their pricing by $5.

I meean, it doesn't hurt to ask. By staying silent, Adobe won't hear of the need and assume everything is okay. Only the squeeky wheel has a chance at getting some oil.

Did you just make an adobe account? I have read it taking 24 - 48 hours for XD to show in the display for new users. If that is not that case, that really sucks. Sometimes one needs to re-install a program when it goes bad, so this could be the end of the line. We have a tremendous amount of designs in XD that have not even been looked at by the developers. We have a backlog in the dev part of our projects. Man, and I getting worried. They should give advanced notice for removing the download or disabling the program.

I also don't trust Figma since they may be sold to the next highest bidder. I am sticking with XD for now. It really is the best (but not perfect). Once XD is killed, I will use PenPot. I like the open-source aspect. The free tier is probably good enough for any freelancer.

I prefer XD over Figma. Sure, it is not perfect, but most software isn't but gets regular updates (not XD anymore). I still use XD, but I would use PenPot over Figma. It's open source and with Figma maybe being bought out to any buyer, I don't trust it to stick around. The free tier of PenPot will probably cover any freelancers' needs.

Hi, This problem happens with https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Montserrat (the static version of the font). It helped a bit when I uninstalled the Adobe Montserrat font. The problem seems to be with the SemiBold weight. As you can see in this video, the font changes from Montserrat SemiBold to Open Sans (I think) when I am clicked into the text box, so it makes judging distance difficult since the x-width of the characters of the font is different. The problem does not seem to happen with the other variations of the font. I don't think I am doing anything to extraordinary to make this issue occur; it just happens. Even when I pull the text to it's own text block, it still happens. Thank you for your attention. Windows 11 XD Version: 57.1.12.2 https://youtu.be/iOfmZHjTGGE

That is funny. Rumors are spreading because the lack of official word from Adobe and they aren't even disputing any comment that says XD is dead. Using the phrase "maintenance mode" is what leads people to think it is winding down. I mean, Windows OS goes from having an actively updated/enhanced version, then it goes to a maintenance/security only updates, then it goes into no patches at all. If Adobe has a different definition of "maintenance mode," it would be best if they defined it for the class...

I think this is a fair question to ask and get an official answer. XD is part of the Adobe family. It works with other Adobe products and brings shared value to the Adobe family. If the Adobe family is broken, the value of other staple products like Photoshop and Illustrator are diminished. If I am going to have to start using a third party prototyping tool, I might consider using a Photoshop and Illustrator alternative too since the programs will be more scattered across brands. Sure, XD needs some work, but I think it is worth it. I don't really care for Adobe putting my monthy fee to AI as I find creating art fun and do not want to outsource the fun to AI. I'd prefer my fees go to XD. I opened up the Figma website the other day and was considering trying it out for my next UI project, but I just don't trust them in stability. I suppose since Adobe has been around longer, it seems more worthwhile to to stick with XD. I am also considering other tools too. It is confusing because the tools will always change, but man, is it difficult to go into an interview and not be sure which UI/UX tool will be required for the job. If I put time into learning another tool, how long will that one last? I'd prefer the creative challenge of laying out a page, than the technical challenge of learning a different software ecosystem.

When I heard about the blocked deal by the EU, I assumed and got excited about XD coming back to life, but this support forum is leaving me really doubtful. Adobe should offer clear communications and expectations to their paying members. I really dislike some of the UI choices of XD, but it is part of the bundle of Adobe products, which is a benefit that any third party app will never have. I even resisted a year or two from learning XD, not wanting to be a "beta tester" for an unstable product. I finally started using XD, and it has made working with the developers and sales team easier. There are some rooms for improvement, but why not do it? Isn't that what Adobe does? Incremental improvements? Clearly if Adobe has enough money for a break-up fee, they should have money for developement of new features. Buying Figma would have given them something quickly, but now Adobe can take time to make a good product, with their own Adobe-style UI slowly. Not all software can come instantly. Adobe has no hesistation on raising the subscription fee; I hope they can use that money to support the software I use. All in all, if XD is abandoned, I will probably not try to learn the other Adobe experiemental apps. I don't want to take time to learn them, get the dev team on board with learning them, just to have something else yanked from under my feet again. This also makes me miss buying a software license, where I could rely on the software to be there. Now I don't know how much longer I have with XD. I hope the dev team (which is slow) can finish working with my prototypes before XD is killed.
