Hi Similar problems - severe crashes and poor performance with data loss (deletes cut and paste to text frames - crashes if inserting index markers) IND 2021 to a lesser extent 2020 - resetting preferences and cache ineffective - iMac 2019 Catolina 16gb RAM and 2.5Tb storage. Rolling back to IND 2019 fixed all problems as far as I can see - Cheers Steve Hodby

I create directories using indesign and this requires large & complex indexing. I have noticed recently that the 4th Level index entries are being preformatted with an end paragraph marker (^p) before the entered text. eg, Level 1 "Haematology" Level 2 "Clinical" Level 3 "Western Australia" Level 4 "^pMary Smith" -- actual entered text "Mary Smith" This happens mostly but not always and requires stripping these markers from thousands of entries. Can anyone advise if this is and Indesign bug or some obscure setup error on my part.
