Hi there, I'm a commercial editor working with ProRes transcoded files. It doesn't appear to be a playback issue with the actual footage. I've tried all the other solutions. What makes me think it's something to do with adobe is because I also edit in Avid and my keyboard shortcut to toggle play/stop is the same and it works just fine and does not stop working.
