Thank you, Ann Bens. I set the keyboard shortcut 'Command+V' to 'Paste to Target' track and this is exactly the behavior I wanted.

MyerPj, thanks for the advice on Fit To Frame vs Scale To Frame. I agree this is a better method when, for example, putting 4K footage into a 1080p timeline so you can still zoom without losing pixels. Luckily this keyboard command is working too so I'll just forget about scale to frame size 😉

In Premiere Pro 2024 and all previous versions, I used to click the 'source patching' selection an the far left of the timeline, and then whatever footage I'd paste in the timeline (using ctrl+V) it would appear on the layer that the source selection was activated on. In Premiere Pro 2025, it places the pasted footage on random layers no matter what layer I have the source patchign set to. Sometimes is the bottom layer, and sometimes the 3rd or 4th layer. I've also tried using the targeting selection next to it and that doesn't make any difference. The only thing I can do is lock all layers from the bottom up to get the footage on the right layer, but this takes too long. The source selection tool still works for inserts and overrights from the source panel, but I can no longer use it to paste footage, like "control+V". This was a feature I've probably used a million times in all previous versions.

In Premere Pro 2025 the action "Scale to Frame Size" is not working properly. I have this set to the keyboard shortcut 'control+Q'. When I press the keyboard shortcut, control+Q, the footage will scale to frame size as long as I'm holding it down, but when I release control+Q the footage will go back to it's previous size in the timeline. In Premeire Pro 2024 all I had to do was hit control+Q and it would scale to frame size and keep it that way.

The new way that AE 2025 handles the video files when you create a dynamic link from Premiere Pro is not useful for several applications, like motion tracking and rotoscoping in AE. For example, to use motion tracking you have to be working in the layer for the video footage (not the main composition). The problem with AE 20245 is that the dynamic link creates a composition that doesn't have the video footage you want to work with already nicely trimmed. Instead the dynamic link creates a compostion with the video footage inside of another composition, and that composition has the ENTIRE video file. This is causing me problems for 2 reasons: 1. If the video file is 5 minutes long and I only want to motion track 5 seconds of it, I don't need or want the full video file. I want the 5 seconds of it I trimmed in Premiere Pro to be imported to AE with that footage trimmed the same way, and nicely placed on it's own layer. 2. If you want to motion track or rotoscope, you have to work directly on the video layer. It doesn't help to have the video footage inside another compostion because you can't apply the motion tracking to a null in the main composition.. instead you're working with a 5 minute long timeline when you only want 5 seconds of it. Does anyone else have this same problem?

I have a .mov files in my timeline that were orignially created in After Effects. When I want to make changes to the .mov file, I go into After Effects, make the changes, and re-export the .mov with the same file name. In Premiere Pro, this footage does not update seamlessly... it will gitch, flip upside down, and the only fix is to restart Premiere Pro. After restarting Premiere Pro the updated footage loads fine. Is there a proper way to refresh these .mov files in Premiere Pro so this doesn't happen? I have tried "Reload Footage", and that doesn't work. I can't use the Linked Comps when big projects start taking up too much space, so I have to export indivudal .mov files.

I've had this issue for years and the only way I can fix it is to restart my computer. It's much worse with Premiere Pro 2024. I have a MB Pro M1 Ultra with 64GB RAM and 4TB Hard Drive. It's most frustrating for me when I'm trying to grab the edges of clips in my timeline and the curser flickers between tool shapes.

Exact same problem since installing Premiere Pro 2024. I constantly switch between editing and color workspaces, and every time I click between workspaces the project panel automatically switches to icon view even though it was on list view before. I've tried setting the workspace to list view and saving the workspace, and it doesn't fix the problem. It's super annoying. I probably click the list view icon 100+ times a day now when previously it was zero. Please fix, Adobe. Thanks
