I am having the same issue in AE 25.1.0. Did you ever find any workaround? Did Adobe look into this? I have a 3D model of an office chair rolling through the frame and I have ended up rendering the floor shadows in a separate pass and blurring them significantly to hide the flickering.

This thread has helped me a lot but I'm stuck on something. I'm trying to set up expressions for an animation of an office chair. I have a 3D null called "null - direction" which controls the path of the chair, and it is set to auto-orient along the path. But I wanted the wheels to have a slight delay so that when the chair turns a corner the wheels take a little bit of extra time to rotate into that orientation.
In order to do this I made a null called "null - getOrientation" and I used the expressions in this thread to get the orientation of the chair, and then I used another null called "null - delay" to delay the orientation by half a second. The orientation of the wheels is pick-whipped to the orientation of "null - delay"
It all seems to work ok at the first corner but when we get to the second corner the chair is turning clockwise but "null - getOrientation" and "null - delay" start turning anticlockwise and we end up with wheels not oriented to the path. I'm attaching a video which I hope shows what I mean. On further investigation it seems to be occurring when the value of sinb reaches the top or bottom of the sine wave curve ie. at 1 or -1.

Hi, this blog post doesn't display correctly in Safari on Mac desktop: https://blog.adobe.com/en/publish/2023/10/10/hdr-explained
Hovering over the images is supposed to reveal the HDR version, but there are no changes in the images in Safari. When I view the blog in Chrome it behaves as it is meant to.

All Firefly aspect ratios meet the 4 megapixel requirement, and there is no requirement to upscale. Firefly is good with some prompts and bad with others, so it's really a case of trying out different prompts, styles, techniques etc. to find something you can work with. I don't think the campervan is a good one to work with because it has too many artifacts. For Stock images I like to use Firefly to generate the main subject of my image, then I bring it into Photoshop and make the canvas size quite a bit bigger and I use Generative Fill with a blank prompt to expand the background around my Firefly image. I do this in multiple 1024x1024 blocks because that is the maximum size that you can generate with Generative Fill - anything bigger is just 1024x1024 upscaled. When I've filled in my canvas I flatten the image and add a Levels Adjustment Layer and use that to crush the white level, which helps show up where joins between the 1024x1024 blocks are noticeable - usually in the sky or in gradients. Then I fix those joins up with the color mixer brush and remove the adjustment layer. Finally I downsize the image to something closer to the required 4 megapixels and save as a jpg.

It looks to me like the effect is happening in the brightest parts of the video only. I would duplicate the video layer and on the top one I would apply the Extract effect to key out the darker parts of the image to the desired amount, so you are only working with the brighter parts. The colors are altered in your second and third examples, so next I would use Hue/Saturation or some other color effect to change the colors. Then I would use the mosaic effect to create the pixilation. Finally I would apply a Bevel and Emboss layer style. Hope this helps!

More explanation of why this is happening is here: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/layers.html
"When you apply an effect to a continuously rasterized layer, the results may differ from the results of applying the effect to a layer without continuous rasterization. This difference in results is because the default rendering order for the layer changes. The default rendering order for a layer without continuous rasterization is masks, followed by effects, and then transformations; whereas the default rendering order for a continuously rasterized layer is masks, followed by transformations, and then effects."

I think this is happening because shape layers are always "continuously rasterized". One possible work around is to make a new solid, add a mask, and copy the shape layer path to the mask path. So long as you don't continually rasterize the solid, your grain will move with the layer.

Thank you! I have used your expression and I can now duplicate the comp without the randomness changing 🙂

Hi, I’m trying to do something with AE Expressions and they’re not behaving the way I expected. Any Expressions gurus who can advise me? The problem is with seedRandom. My expectation is that if I make a duplicate of this comp, the randomness shouldn’t change because I am using seedRandom. But it does change, and I don’t want that. Did I code something wrong?

Hi, I've been looking through this forum, and have seen some posts about videos exported from AE that look desaturated / low contrast compared to in the AE comp window. The consensus in the threads that I have read is that it relates to Quicktime. My issue is similar but I am having this problem with stills too, which I presume means it is not to do with Quicktime? Here is an AE comp on the left and a PNG export of the comp, opened in PS, on the right. Does anyone have any tips on how can I set up my AE project colour management so I am seeing a more accurate representation of what will be exported?

This occurs because in the export settings Premiere Pro won't let you select the Export Color Space that matches your sequence (Rec. 2100 HLG) when exporting to H.264. It is set to Rec.709 and can't be changed. Same issue with Media Encoder. The workaround that I used was to export to a Quicktime Pro Res 422 HQ, select Rec. 2100 HLG as my Export Color Space. Then I used Apple Compressor to encode to H.264.

I'm sure we used to be able to add up to 50 keywords, but as of today the maximum I am able to add to my new uploads is 49, and any of my exisiting clips that previously had 50 keywords now have one fewer keyword. (The last one is gone.) Is anyone else seeing this?

OK, but I thought I could submit a hard drive because of this post: Accepting video content via hard drive I sent an e-mail to the address in that post but haven't received a reply, which is why I'm asking here. For me it will be a better option that FTP'ing 500 GB.

What mailing address should I use to submit 800 videos on a hard drive? (I am in New Zealand.) Also, is an HD version automatically generated from 4K footage, or do I need to submit HD versions of my 4K clips if I want both formats to be available?
