Hi, I'm using Photoshop 26.3 on Windows 11. It's not the first time that I'm using Photoshop 26.3 but this morning it just didn't want to open. I clicked the icon on the taskbar and the icon on the desktop and it wouldn't open. The weird thing is that when I tried to downgrade to 26.1, it said I had to close Photoshop first BUT when I checked in the task manager, Photoshop was not listed as running. So I had to restart my computer and downgrade to 26.1 before clicking any photoshop icon. Back to 26.1, I could now open Photoshop. Thank you for exploring what went wrong.

Yeah i'm pretty sure the problem is embedded in the software (i played with my tablet preferences, wintab/windowsink and my nvidia card parameters so I know the problem doesn't come from those).

@Chad RolfsActually it's the same problem as this one https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/brush-stroke-delay-not-lag-brush-stroke-doesn-t-appear-immediately-windows/td-p/12724472 though as i mentioned before the windowsink/wintab thing is not the solution. Also mentioned here https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/photoshop-cc-2018-brush-delay-on-start-of-stroke/m-p/10049054 The "enable airbrush option" is always mentioned as a workaround, too.

Any news on that ? I tried tthose "fixes" ( https://www.reddit.com/r/photoshop/comments/wug0b1/fix_photoshop_brush_lag_for_good/ )but it made no difference. Anyway if there's no lag when the airbrush option is on it means that there's not a lag "by default" which would be due to the GPU, yes ?

@Chad Rolfs Here is another video from this morning to maybe help better visualize the problem. I'm using the brush from the general brushes highlighted in my previous message, at 250 px. Notice especially the last dot (with airbrush option off) : I'm pressing on the screen with the pen and the dot just appears at the end, not when I start pressing, whereas it appears right when I'm pressing on the screen when the airbrush option is checked at the beginning :

My first message was from 2023 and I changed tablets since then (still wacom though) but I still experience the same problem. I tried with WinTab and WinInk and there's no difference. The problem is not being able to create dots it's the different response time between the brush with the airbrush option and without : without you have to press harder and longer whereas with the airbrush option the brush "connect" to the screen right when you put the pen nib to the screen. Try with or without the option and see if you experience a difference in response.

Well, I asked the support service and they said it was supposed to act like this (sounds weird)... I just use my brush with the airbrush option on from now on.

@JqqerryActually I think I don't encounter this bug anymore (I'm on version 26.1.0). The only slightly related problem I got is when i do fast strokes or points and the software seems to miss some strokes at one point, like it doesn't have enough time to calculate the next stroke (so the points appear a bit runny).

@Jqqerry : Well, I think I haven't witnessed it, yeah, but again it had a tendency to not appear quite often with the latest versions... Try it and see if it does something. Anyway it helps with other problems (sliders lagging for example) so disabling that is a real plus.

I just downgraded to 26.1 because of that... Why the hue/saturation layer is not available in CMYK anymore is a complete mystery. I just hope it won't take 10 versions to bring it back.

@JqqerryYeah, before I would experience the bug whenever i started drawing on a new layer and now it appears so rarely I can't really determine why it appears... I guess it's an improvement. I haven't use the Remove tool yet so I'm sticking to this 26.0 for now.

Hi, I'm on Firefox and browser open or not, it happens anyway. It happens less frequently since 2 or 3 photoshop upgrades now, though, proof that it has something to do with the software architecture.

I was happy to update to the latest version after I noticed critical bugs with brush texture in Photoshop 2023, until I noticed this new bug... It's almost comical how each update messes with the core elements of the software.

The flicking bug is still here but nevertheless I upgraded to the latest version (25.1) as it seemed to have fixed the bug regarding the rotation tool (I'll have to check it further though) and, more important, a bug I noticed just a few days ago in Photoshop 2023 where the texture of some textured brushes was not working correctly (and I'm talking about kyle webster brushes provided by adobe)... Don't ask me why. I was wondering for a long time why I couldn't manage to get that crayon texture I had been getting before, turns out it was some kind of photoshop bug.

@SATAN25496335dtyqThe brush tool has bugs, the select tool has bugs, the rotate tool has bugs, apparently the hand tools has bugs, the most basic stuff in an art software is bugged beyond belief but you can generate lighthouses with AI so everything's fine.

@June1234 I am working with a cache tile of 1024k and sure I tried 1028k, too, always had the same problem. The bug appears when I draw on a new layer so maybe you havn't exprienced it yet because you haven't changed layers yet ?

To help visualize the problem, here are 2 videos I filmed on my phone. I'm drawing on a wacom cintiq pro 16 with a wacom pro pen slim. I'm using the same brush at a size 35 px and working on a file with a zoom of 71%. With airbrush/build-up option OFF : With airbrush/build-up option ON : You can see that the brush is more responsive with the airbrush turned on... I think that this bug appeared many versions ago but I don't think it existed on Photoshop CS (I'm not particularly sure about that, though)...

My problem is basically this : https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/photoshop-brush-only-draws-after-moving-or-releasing-the-click/td-p/9641136 You can't draw a single point with the brush or the pencil tool without moving the pen : when your pen touch your screen/cintiq or tablet, there's no dot, you have to move the pen for something to appear (we're talking about very small point), whereas the problem doesn't appear when you check the "airbrush" option. For months I use this turnaround (checking the airbrush option, which means the "build-up" option is checked in the brush settings panel, except that I now realize that the "build-up" option changes the behavior of your brush quite a bit (the fatness of the line vary more) and so is not an acceptable solution. So is there some option to check somewhere that I didn't think of or is it a bug that will have to be fixed in the software ? Thank you for your time.

That doesn't resolve the problem at hand I think. We're in 2023 now and the problem still stands... Is there any way to draw a dot or a small area without moving the pend and without using the airbrush ? (sorry but using the airbrush is just a workaround).
