As suggested I lowered the aspect ratio of a square photograph (added white space) and made it like 2:1 then used Photo enhancement in Neural Filters and it worked but, with limited success, because the error would return if I then tried to use Enhance face. However, with this one photograph, I was able to use the Photo enhancement filter, click ok, save the file, then reopen Neural Filters click to use Enhance face, and it worked. So after many trials, over many months, with many different photos, it seems to be that I can't always use Photo enhancement and Enhance face filters, at the same time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.

I'm wondering if this is a memory problem. I'm using a 2023 iMac with 16GB

Hey Erin, * * * Solved * * * I believe in my case the problem I was having had to do with me getting my File Sharing settings correct. As I can now write, overwrite, save, save as, my old Indesign 2021 fies, as Indesign 2024 files, and store them where ever I want. As stated by Robert at ID-Tasker (and maybe others) " . . . are you sure you've writing rights set correctly? To folders and your INDD files?" If you haven't done so already, check your File Sharing settings and make sure you've set the folder(s) where you want to store your files, and give those folders Read & Write privileges. Good Luck. That's what I thought I understood as well but I'm running out of ideas for a cause. I can open any file from the old computer, edit it, etc but I can only save it to the new iMac.

Thank you and hello Abhisek. I ran First Aid from the Disk Utility and recieved a green checkmark. It doesn't appear to me that there is anything wrong with the files either. As mentioned in an earlier post, I'm using my hard drive from an old MacPro Tower, OS (Version 10.14.6) so not capaible of running CC 2024. So I purchased a new iMac but I have more working files than the new computer hard drive could handle, so I decided I would use my old MacPro and its hard drive like a server. The last version of CC I was using on my old MacPro was 2021. Question: Does CC 2024 require any file being saved to another computer hard drive must have a OS capable of running CC2024?

Thank you for responding Robert. Basically, I'm using my old Mac Pro's hard drive as a server because the new iMac doesn't have a large enough HD to store all my working files. I did not MIGRATE the working files. I have set all the folders my files are stored in with read & write privileges. Indesign can see and open any of those files just fine, but it won't let me write, overwrite, save, or save as. When I choose to "Save" a file, the file becomes gray, and is no longer active. My problem sounds exactly like Erin32160754kowv's - problem, and I'm getting the same error messages. One difference might be that my old Adobe Files are CC 2021 and I'm using CC 2024 now on the new iMac. Overwriting files is a standard operating procedure using Adobe CC on a Mac. It may well be that this has something to do with identity or the entity.

Did you ever resolve your first issue, as shown at the top of this thread?

Thank you leo.r That helped remove some of the confusion I had but I'm still getting the original message as described by Erin32160754kowv at the top of this post. I can make a new folder on my desktop and save my Indesign document there, but it won't let me save as or write over the old original document file.

I can copy and paste a file to the desktop. And I can move it to a folder on the desktop, and it appears to be saving it to the cloud, as I briefly see the icloud icon appear and then quickly disappear. I can now open the desktop file, edit it and save it to the same desktop folder, which again I believe is in the cloud. So I'm guessing some or all of my files are in the cloud. I bought this new iMac not realizing it had less storage than my old Mac Pro tower. I don't know if I can flush this new iMac and bring it back to where it was before I began the migration process.

I don't see any Indesign lock file (idlk) and "Save" is grayed out on everything. It won't save anywhere.

old, new, doesn't matter. Old files open just fine. I can create a new files but I cannot save them either. Any files. Indesign won't let me save using a different name. I did try saving as IDML, doesn't matter. I just bought a new iMac and migrated the files from the old to the new computer. I kind of suspect it has something to do with the file transfer. Also, I don't want to save my files to iCloud. I want to save them on my computer like I did on the old computer.

Hey Erin32160754kowv - did you ever get an answer to your original problem? I'm having the same issue and getting the same message. Doesn't matter if I use Save or Save As.
