Select all the text in the file Sergey entered and copy it. Open a new file as plain text in a text editor and paste the trxt you copied into it. Save as a plain text (not rich text) file to your desktop. To use go to AI>Scripts>Other Scripts and navigate to the file on your desktop.

Try saving out of 2025 as a legacy file, open in 2024 and resave as a regular .ai file.

If AI2024 worked in your flow, then just keep a copy of it on your machine and use it to create the decals. You can have two different versions on your machine.

Do you have any app which controls windows on your monitor? Such as Magnet or Rectangle? Try disabling those or set it to ignore AI and see if it helps.

If you save the file with PDF enabled you are saving two files in one. The PDF version will have embedded versions of all images in an uncompressed format. This can add up really quickly.

A couple of questions. Has the file been saved with PDF enabled? And have you ever tried using Save As adding a version number to track? There is a build up of in the history of the PDF part of the file which can only be cleared by using Save As.

If you're on a Mac and using Text Edit please make sure you have set the save format as Plain Text. The line shown indicates the file was saved as a Rich Text file.

Make sure when you save the file from TextEdit that you force it to be plain text. The default from TE is Rich Text which will not work.

As to Bobby's question, how much ram do you have? Are your designs getting more complex as you go deeper in this direction? You really need 64 GB of Ram for this kind of stuff.
