Edited: I have a previously shared album in Lightroom. When I add photos to the LrC shared collection that is the source of the images, I see those newly added images in the "Shared" tab, only after switching to the "Album" tab and then back to shared. However, the previous web address of the page of shared photos does not show the recently added photos. Do I need to reshare the album everytime I add photos? If that's the case, it's a pain notifying all the sharees of the new web address. I have checked the preferences to see if there is a "Update Shared Album" or something similar and found nothing. Thanks.

The original poster did not return to this thread after the suggestion to reset preferences. Maybe that fixed the issue. Give it a try yourself.

A while back, I helped a professional photographer friend of mine transfer all of her photos (all in LrC catalog) from a number of small (1-2TB) external drives onto a 14TB drive so they would all be in one place. During that process of copying the files with Mac Finder, we discovered that Finder did NOT copy every file in large folders. When you do your copying, check each folder in LrC to be sure all the files were copied over to the new drive. In our case, we had to manually find the missing files and do the copy operation again several times to get them all.

Please describe how you transitioned your Lightroom Classic (catalog and previews) folder from the old computer to the new. Do you have recent backups? In my recent experience, what you are describing is likely caused by corruption of the catalog (.lrcat) file that LrC is trying open.

Make careful note of the name of your old catalog and go to the folder where Lightroom Classic stores the backups. Unzip the newest until you find the proper one. Rename the problematic catalog, then copy the unzipped backup to the Lightroom Classic folder. Double click on the backup catalog that is now in the Lightroom Classic folder. That will open Lightroom Classic with a hopefully recent backup.

It won't hurt to give that a try. If you open LRC while holding the Ctl key (Win) it will give you the option of creating a new catalog. I did not need to do that, I needed my main catalog.

Something like this happened to me recently. Very similar symptoms. It turned out that I was trying to load a corrupted catalog. The catalog had been corrupted by bad RAM in the new build I had just finished. I unzipped the most recent backup, renamed the bad catalog, the copied the unzipped backup to the Lightroom Classic folder and it started right up.

What is your connection/interface with the server? Ethernet? WiFi? Speed of your connection? Server drive failing? Is is possible that others are using the server (different files, of course) at the same time?

It's just above the White Balance dropper, the word Profile and to the right of that is a drop down list of choices.

Have you tried the new in LrC V 14.2 Adaptive Color profile? It makes really nice starting point. I know it's not a preset that you asked for.

When you close Lightroom Classic (LrC) like that, it leaves a .lock file in the Lightroom Classic folder on your computer. That file has to be deleted before LrC will start again. You can find that .lock file by doing a search in Windows Explorer for "*.lock", the delete that .lock file and ONLY that .lock file. I recently had a problem with LrC not starting because of a corrupted catalog file. The catalog got corrupted by a faulty RAM module in a newly built computer. Try your most recent backup catalog to see if that helps. You should run "Optimize Catalog" and "Check integrity" during the LrC backup process.

I recently had an issue with a corrupted catalog on my brand new home built computer. It turned out to be a defective RAM module. Do a memory test on your computer. Google that.

I have only one other thought. Is the slowless you are describing happing WHILE you are importing large number of images and before the preview files have been created? If so, that is normal because Lightroom Classic is so busy with the import process. If you are experiencing slowness after the import process is complete and the previews have been created. I have no other suggestions. I'm having no slowness like you describe. See my system in my signature.

That should be lightning fast. I have my machine set up that way. One last question: Where are the image files located?

Interface? Internal? External? Is it plugged into a USB 2.0 port by accident? Try copying the entire catalog folder with including the previews folder to the internal drive C: and run it from there.

What system are you using? Mac or Win? I suggest resetting the LrC preferences since that doesn't happen with a reinstall. If you are on Windows, try updating the GPU driver directly from the vendor.

I just tested LrC on my standby computer which is the only one I have that has updated to Win 11 24H2. LrC is running fine on that one. My main processing machine is a new home built Win 11. I7-14700, still on 23H2. I recently had a problem on the new machine where LrC would not start. No error message, but the .lock file was created. The short explanation is that a bad ram module in the new computer had caused a corrupt catalog in LrC. Once I replaced the ram, I found the latest zipped LrC backup, unzipped it and placed it in the LrC folder after renaming the lrcat corrupt catalog file. It has worked fine since. I hope this might help in your situation.

Have you upgraded to LrC 14.x recently? If so, that's the reason. Adobe Denoise used the neural engine of the M series in the the previous version of LrC. They found that the quality of that process was not up to standards, so in the latest version they have turned off using the Mac M series neural engine.

I realize this thread has been active for a long time and many would like AI culling. The are times that in my own work, music shows, airshows and wildlife that I come home from a shoot with thousands of images. I know we are talking about culling, which I think for many means reviewing and selecting the bad shots (bad for whatever reason). I find it's much more efficient and effective to review all the images in Photo Mechanic and only select for further consideration the good images. If one culls based on getting rid of the bad shots, there is still the process of picking the best ones. By picking the best ones in the first pass, that cut out a time consuming job of culling/rejecting. After picking the best shots. I delete the ones I did not pick so the LrC importing and creating previews process is much faster on a smaller but already vetted set of images. I'm posting this in case it can make high volume shooters process more efficient until/when AI comes along in LrC.

The more I consider the concept of AI culling, the less I like it. Say I let it cull a big music show of several thousand images. I am a perfectionist on how I like the expressions of the musicians, their position relative to the mic as well as the positions of the rest of the players and instruments when I show a group. I can't imagine that I wouldn't have to go through all the images again myself to be sure AI didn't miss anything that I consider excellent.
