Oh well, back to the multiple product approach until Lightroom matures in this area.

Hey Allen, Great insight. The problem is that some participants in this forum won't accept the correct answer. Just because they don't like the answer doesn't make it incorrect.

Which came out at the end of last year...

There was a request for potential beta-testers made last week: Lightroom Mobile: Support for Android That said: Adobe and most other companies never give anything more than a vague notion of release schedule, dates and versions.

Well, have you talked to Canon? Offhand, I would say you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Canon reserves the right to fiddle with the file spec right up until release.

WAIT for RAW support? I have work to do with this camera this week. No way I'm shooting this thing as JPG.
For those of you who don't bother to check software support before purchasing and committing work to a particular piece of gear, your best option is to shoot Raw+JPEG. You will have instant access to JPEG, temporary access to Raw via DPP and Lightroom support shortly. The next update for Lightroom is due soon and should have your Raw file support.

Now that it does exist it's annoying to know that there isn't a clear timeline on when it will be available on Android... Which is also fair.
You don't know there isn't a clear timeline. The timeline may be crystal-clear. It may also be not-public. On a side note: If anyone watched Scott Kelby's "The Grid" this week, you will have seen a great demo on using the newly announced features of Lightroom mobile/Lightroom web. Interestingly, much of Scott's demo's functionality is available to Android users - TODAY.

A few weeks to a few months. Lightroom typically releases an update quarterly. It depends upon the timing of the camera's release to the Adobe schedule. Normally there is a release candidate of the DNG converter tool a few weeks prior that gives you earlier access to your Raw files in Lightroom via DNG.

And I use the Web Module and Social Interaction plugins daily - so you can't get rid of them. The point here, Sadmyst, is that there are many things that many users depend on - you can't simply diminish them because you don't like them or use them. Library/Develop consolidation would likely require a complete new rewrite of the program. That wouldn't be Lightroom 6, 7 or even 8. It would be a new product. Aperture, in my opinion, did not have that great of an interface. But then you are entitled to your opinions too.

Based upon a reported accidental sighting on Amazon-Germany in May is hardly confirmation of anything. Quoting a source named Cyberland - who ever that is, is not confirmation. I was unable to find any original 'report' by Cyberland, only people reporting or attributing it to it/him/her. In June the same story was reported with a June 18th release date - again, hardly confirmation.

Your choices are to: 1. Crop to the correct aspect before exporting 2. Export and live with the non-4:3 aspect 3. Use a program like PS to create white space to fill in the gaps left by not cropping it 4:3 in the first place. 4. Resize and distort in a program like PS. Lightroom doesn't allow you to distort.

Did you crop them to 4:3 before you exported them? A 16:9 image will need to have 25% of its horizontal pixels cropped off before it will export at as 4:3.

Although my last LR 5.2 Tether job went just fine (few restarts of tethering - no hard restarts) (5dMKII), I always have a Snow Leopard laptop with LR 4.4.1 ready to go JIC. Auto Lens Correction... If you disable that does your tethering become more robust? I suspect it will.
