Hi Everyone,
I just finished a chat session with Adobe Support about why Premier Pro CC keeps crashing
It finished with me being told point blank that my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card was not compatible.
Ok, I can see that the GTX 1070 is not specifically mentioned in the recommended list at Adobe Premiere Pro System Requirements but it is a very capable graphics card and newer and more capable than others on that list.
I have searched these forums and there are several mentions of the 1070 but nothing that seems to just rule them out completely.
Is anyone out there using a GTX 1070 with Premier Pro CC?
Is there an earlier version that would work with the 1070?
I don't really want to have to buy a new graphics card when the 1070 is working very well with everything else I do.
Actually, it's not so much that the GTX 1070 is compatible or incompatible with Premiere; it's much more likely that the crashes are the result of the X299 (LGA 2066) platform being a lot more finicky than most other platforms. You would have experienced repeated crashes with that system even if you had used a "completely supported" GPU.

Hi, i use NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, and i have been very happy with its perfomance, the timelaine playback works perfectly most of the time and when it doesn't a quick 'render and replace' works just fine.
Check if the use of your Graphics card is allowed in Pr itself, go to File> Project settings> General and make sure 'Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA) is selected.
Could you list your machines's specs, such as RAM, processor and the SSD if its present.

I can see your computer is very powerful, 8th generation CPU is more than enough, 32 GB RAM is impressive and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 as you said is more powerful than most of listed / 'recomended' Graphics cards in Adobe perspective.
From specs i can't imagine what could be wrong!
How often does you Pr crashes? and What sort of crash is it , frizzing or shutting down or not responding?

I bought the computer specifically to edit 4K video so I expected it to work well.
I'm new to Adobe Premiere, but Premiere Pro CC freezes/crashes so often that I have not been able to learn much other than basics.
The times when it crashes seem random. Sometimes crashes during start up and sometimes after I've been on it for 10 minutes and everything in between. But I rarely get more than about 10 minutes before it crashes.
Sometimes just the program crashes. Sometimes it freezes. Sometimes the whole desktop computer crashes and restarts. Sometimes the whole computer crashes, then freezes (i.e. it does not restart).
The computer is fully updated with the latest Windows 10 updates.
I've checked all drivers for updates and they are up to date.
Premier has been removed and re-installed with no change to the crashes.
No other software on the computer is having any issues.

I use GeForce Experience to keep the driver updated.
I've just used that to re-install the driver, so I'll see if that helps

Hi RjL, thanks for that. I wasn't aware of any problems with the X299.
Would you recommend any ways to get the system more manageable/stable?

Since this seems to be a motherboard issue, I searched out issues with the X299 and found this thread: BSOD upon starting Premiere after new PC build. There is a possible solution there.

Very interesting... when I built my computer this past January I looked at the LGA 2066 and decided that I couldn't justify the extra cost for what I do... so I went with an LGA 1200 ASUS Z490-P motherboard... which has given ZERO problems

I just updated my Premiere Pro after using it fine with my GTX 1070 and I get
"could not find any capable video play modules..."
Was wondering if any of you found a solution since then?

I have the same problem but with GTX 1050Ti - it's not a graphics card issue. For now, I would suggest going back to 13.0.1 - which is what I have done.

Is there a way to make a gtx 1070 work with the current version? I wanted to use the 7 day trial before committing and it wont even get past the load screen without that error appearing.

Thanks. I was having the same error message, and your suggestion to downgrade to 13.0.1 worked. To bad I didn't try that first.

Thank you so much for the tip on downgrading to 13.0.1. I almost threw my computer out the window. Once I went back to 13.0.1 everything went back to normal.

I don't know how relevant it is, but Puget Systems had a look at Nvidia's new Content Ready driver program a couple of weeks ago. I don't think that these drivers will have any performance advantages over 'Game Ready' drivers, but it sounds like the Content Ready drivers will be held back for additional testing with apps like Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
I think most of us hold back from the constant driver updates which are mostly focused on new game releases, and stay with stable driver versions when we find them. I also suspect that most of us won't install Geforce Experience, but there is a new field in the driver download widget.
As this is a new program, I'm thinking it will be a while before it makes any difference, because we'll need a couple of Game Ready updates ti give Nvidia time to 'hold back' existing driver versions. It all sounds a bit strange to me, but I guess it just might reduce situations like the GTX1070 issues posters to this thread have experienced.... Or will they?

Well, as mentioned I had this problem, I also updated the Nvidia Creator Ready Driver - 419.67 before the P Pro update AND now that there is a new update to Premiere Pro version 13.1, I no longer get the problem of "could not find any capable video play modules..."
So the update is working as it should (although there may be other problems...) Give it a go... and for anyone else who has had this problem!

Try to use this and give me an aswer is it works
Go to NVIDIA Control Panel > desktop - enable "run with graphics proceessor"
Then go to Manage 3D setting, select Program setting and enable CUDA GPU's for NVIDIA graphics card...
And run an application via "run with graphics processor"

I have a i7- 7820 as well. I used to get BSOD's and crashes in premiere regularily. I upped my cpu voltage to 1.200 and it hasnt happened since. Give that a go... Make sure you have a good cooler!

I also have a problem when launching Premiere. It says "could not find any capable video play modules". This problem started with the newest update. I'm using a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060. But when I changed to my other internal Intel Core i7, everything worked fine. So I do believe it's a graphics card problem. I also couldn't launch ToonBoom (for anyone who knows it) with NVIDIA, but it worked all right with Intel i7. Somehow I can't understand why it shouldn't work with my graphics card, though.
But the 13.0.1 version worked just fine, so I would suggest using that as a solution and hopefully they will get the NVIDIA GeForce to work very soon in the future.

If there is something to fix, it indeed may be awhile as noted it's working fine for most of us.
I purchased an x99 right before the x299's came out (rushed cause the new AMD chips had just dropped?), and indeed there did seem to be a lot of odd problems with that new platform.
