Sharks are highly misunderstood, their aggressiveness is greatly exaggerated:

Good art direction, casting, blocking.
(Not a dumbad, by the way).
Note the stuffed baby seal toy in the little girl's hand.

hehe.. I didnt notice that stuff seal in her hand..
yeah, I was impressed with the thing when I first saw it a week or so ago.. forget where I saw it.. but musta been something I recorded cause I was able to go back and look at the cuts when snuffy gets ate by the shark...and pay attention to the actor's 'reactions' ( obviously without shark eating snuffy during shoot ). I loved the whole thing except for that one half sec where you see the shark is fake and snuffy is history ... but I was willing to suspend disbelief cause the rest of it was so well done.
Plus the 'idea' of it was horrible but done so well it wasn't really "ugly"... in terms of the pathos and etc. Nobody would want to see snuffy suffer such a horrid fate on the eve of being 'free'...and so on.. but the thing was done in such a way that it wasn't just " violence" for the sake of violence ( forget the word people use for that )... it was shocking but not ugly in a mean spirited way.
And I hate to admit it , but it was so well done I actually thought it was funny ....

Do you mean "gratuitous" violence?

hehe.. yeah, thats the word ! couldnt think of it...
I guess that means " here is your violence as a thank you for all you do ! it's a gratuity...sorta like a "tip " ...in your tip jar...
Like if you work at starbucks or something.. you have this little ' tip ' jar... in case someone thinks you deserve some gratuity...
I usually leave something ( like a dollar usually ) ... especially when I see the hunger in their eyes...and realize they don't make enough money to buy the coffee they are making for me.

Maybe like the studio version of The Rolling Stone's White Horses, that features gratuitous violins...
As for the "tip jar," gotta' tread lightly there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svWjtDhGQFg

I was NOT on the New Jersey Turnpike!
That is my story, and I am sticking to it.
Some time ago, somewhere in the eastern third of the U.S.,
while working someplace on an editing job...
I was working along with the producer on something when suddenly
an intern rushes in and says "Get outside now, the fire dept, is here!".
I always carry a camera when I go on jobs, so I grabbed it and ran.
Two fire trucks, three police cars and an ambulance were outside!
We're all standing out on the sidewalk wondering what's going on
and someone comes up and tells us that a "suspicious package"
had been delivered with that day's mail.
I got a few pics from outside until the cops intervened and shooed
everyone across the street and out of potential harm's way.
(I can't show exterior scenes)
After a few minutes the cops came out, waved the "all clear"
and we all started moving back into the building.
Of course, I went in through the side door where the cops just left
and there were a few FD / EMT types with big grins standing
in a huddle around The Main Guy at this place.
On the counter was a lumpy, bumpy, crumpled looking, scrawled
script, hand addressed envelope with a return address in India...
and in The Main Guy's hands was his Viagra order.
While surrounded by chuckling first responders,
I got a priceless sheepish look pic, can't show it all.

Joe,
With the "discrete brown envelope," its contents, and then this statement:

I have to ask, were you editing in an adult-theater????
Enquiring minds want to know...

If I posted an exterior picture, I would have to kill
everyone that happens to read this thread... or myself.

Well, we cannot have that happen, so we will just have to use our imaginations.

I like this one although I have no idea if it is actually an ad.

Sort of. It's a promotional video from driving school website, which teaches safe driving in an emergency.

Oh! Really? Cool!
Then I think it might be a pretty good commercial. It certainly held my attention most of the way through. It probably could have been a little shorter to keep it all the way through.Maybe two minutes?

I thought that it was going to be an ad for "body and fender repair" services!
Nicely choreographed, skated and driven.

Some people just have fantastic imaginations, I guess. I can just hear the conversation that took place. "We are going to take this live scene and composite in a seal and a shark. All you need to do is make it look real.". Yeah. Right! Sure!
