Hi

I am uploading videos to a website I am working on and since I am not so experienced with this I am wondering what best practise is for the exporting the video file? Both when I comes to bitrate and file size but could be other things too. Many thanks.

If you're embedding video on your website from Vimeo or YouTube, the presets in Adobe Media Encoder and Adobe Premiere Pro use the recommended settings from each of those platforms.  Look for presets that have "Vimeo" or "YouTube " in the H264 category.

If hosting the video from your web server, the settings are probably close to those, but the web hosting service may have specific recommendations for optimized playback; however, you'd check with them and then create a custom preset on the Adobe video side.
