    SriPete,

Captivate does support 3th party TTS voices as long as these voices are SAPI 5 compliant. Having said that, not all SAPI 5 compliant providers work perfect with Captivate 7. The voices that come with Captivate 7 are from either Neospeech or Loquendo and I think they are very good. I needed voice for another language though and didn't have much fun finding them.

    - cereproc.com is the only provider I found which works perfectly with Captivate. Their support is very helpfull and the voices are not expensive. The voices are not as perfect as the voices that come with Captivate though. Unfortunately there is no Australian voice listed on their website.

    - neospeech.com: no info on their website about purchasing voices. I have sent them an email and never received a reply.

    - loquendo is bought by Nuance.com. Also no info on their website about purchasing voices and contacting them didn;t work either.

    - ivona.com they have SAPI 5 compliant voices (incl Austrailian), I tried a demo version but it doesn't integrate perfectly with Captivate. It only worked if I set their voice as the default Windows TTS. So different voices in the same slide or project (like a male and female talking to eachother) doesn;t work. I contacted their support and they basically say it's a problem with Adobe Captivate and not their voice. Well, it's their loss if people don't buy their voices because of that.

    Hope this helps.

If you find another TTS voice provider that works, please let me know!

    THE GOOD NEWS:

The NeoSpeech.com website shows the following voices on their sales inquiry form :

    Julie (Female, U. S. English)

    Kate (Female, U. S. English)

    Ashley (Female, US English)

    Paul (Male, U. S. English)

    James (Male, U. S. English)

    Bridget (Female, British English)

    Hugh (Male, British English)

    Violeta (Female, Latin American Spanish)

    Francisco (Male, Mexican Spanish)

    Chloe (Female, Canadian French)

    Hui (Female, Mandarin Chinese)

    Liang (Male, Mandarin Chinese)

    Misaki (Female, Japanese)

    Show (Male, Japanese)

    Yumi (Female, Korean)

    Junwoo (Male, Korean)

    The BAD NEWS:

Their website no longer supports the online purchase and download of these voices, it's primary focus appears to be 'TTS-in-the-cloud'

where you need licensed, downloadable, voice files.

Other options may be available via a Google Search.

As of Captivate 5.5, additional voices from Loquendo may not work. There is a restriction that only the shipped voices work. BTW, if you are planning on additional Neospeach voices, check with the vendor if they support Speech API. Only those voices which support Speech API will work with Adobe Captivate.

FYI, NeoSpeech Voices for Cp9 and other Captivate 9 download instructions are here:

    Hi Himanshu,

    So are the following correct?

Captivate 7 does not have Australian accent.

Captivate 7 does not support 3rd party Text-To-Speech files.

(My intention is to evaluate and propose the best version of Captivate that supports Australian accent  to my employer)

    Cheers
