Question

Breeze Meeting + Premiere = audio out of sync

Hi,

Using Breeze Meeting to record a 1- to 2-hour meeting, using Premiere teleconferencing to record the audio, results in an audio track that is, by the end of the recording, more than 5 seconds out of sync with the video! Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks!

we did encounter latency, but not necessarily during recording of audio, or screen sharing - but rather while having a live voice conference using Premiere. at that time we experienced the problem, the host/presenter had several tabs of browsers running in his computer, and we may have also experienced intermittent connection to the internet. are these the main reasons why we had the latency problem? did anyone else encounter the same? please help thank you

Hi. The latency you're describing sounds pretty normal. The Premiere teleconference is a phone call -- there will be no lag. But the online video will depend on bandwidth, the speed of your computer, random computer glitches, etc... so you should expect the video to run a bit behind.

The latency I'm experiencing is one that only appears in the recording, after the fact -- during the actual event, the video and audio are pretty much in sync. And it happens for every recording we've done, and gets worse later in the presentation (so that, by the end of an hour, you['re looking at a 5-10 second lag between audio and video). It seems that this is a post-production issue, and can only be fixed by a Breeze upgrade.

We have also found that intense use of screen sharing (bandwidth intensive activities) will increase latency in the recording of audio - It;s the way that that Premiere and Breeze re-blend the audio withthe screen recording that causes some of the problems. If you can avoid screen sharing or go to application or window sharing it helps

Thanks for your comments. That sounds like a good workaround for now. I'll try it out for our next meeting.

I've also been in contact with Premiere tech support. They claim that an upcoming release will solve the problem:

    > We did discovery and have found that this
    > is a known (but very intermittent) issue in Breeze 5.
    > Macromedia/Adobe is
    > addressing archive synchronization in the upcoming
    > Breeze 5.3 release scheduled for this fall.

So I'll keep my fingers crossed. (And why oh why couldn't this problem be "intermittent" on our system?) :-)

    Cheers

We've had the same problem with Breeze & Premiere. Breeze looked into it but no solution was found -- I think it's just a result of the phone recording real time and the webcast recording being affected by network latency.

A solution that has actually worked really well for us is to record the audio through the external microphone on the computer. For larger meetings using a microphone, we put a speaker near the computer recording the webcast. For just conference call meetings, we have the speakers sit very close to the computer and put the phone right next to the computer as well (to catch what the remote participants say).

This has worked better for us than trying to synch with Premiere, and is available instantly.
