Strange things happening after recent Photoshop update

I donwnloaded the recent Photoshop update yesterday and immediately started to have strange things happening. This first was a project I was working on seemed to disappeare and I had to start again. On closing Photoshop it reappeared, even though I had started again with a file of the same name.

 

Today, I had the same project open. When I ried to open another image to use in this project it would only show an image of the project I was working on, not an image of the png file, even though it displayed its name. 

 

Anyone else experiencing this?

With the move tool selected, check "Show transform controls" in the options bar. Also in Preferences >Tools check "Show Reference Point when using transform"

I'm have issues too. Yesterday it worked fine but today every time I try to open up an image, the screen only shows black and then it starts blinking black and white. Is there any way to correct this?

@GraphicsEtc This is likely to be a GPU issue. Please start a new thread, rather than tagging on teh end of this old and resolved thread, and include your Photoshop System info.

v21 should be compatible with OS 10.13

As Derek says though, encountering strange behaviour I would reset preferences as a troubleshooting step. Preferences contain much more than just the user set preferences and are saved everytime Photoshop closes so can become corrupt if Photoshop does not close down correctly.

    Thanks, Dave. As I said to Derek, I'm giving that a go, but have lost my text bounding boxes and their controls.

      PS 2020 may not be compatible wiith 10.13.6 – check the specs.

      I asume you kept the previous version of PS installed (always wise until you're happy with the upgrade and have checked plug-ins work in the new version).

       

      In the meeantime I suggest you reset your Photoshop preferences, which you can do under the General tab in Photoshop preferences.

        Thanks, Derek. I deleted the Preferrences and will await to see if that helps that problem. What has happened, though, is my text bounding boxes and controls to rotate, etc., have disappeared. Currently trying to find how to get tham nack.
