Adobe CC - Photoshop 2017

Greetings, I have an active subscription for Adobe CC / Photoshop 2017.

Over the last 2-3 days when attempting to launch Photoshop 2017 via the ACC application launcher I found myself having to re-install Photoshop at least 3 times which is starting to be a little annoying.

Any suggestions or is anyone else experiencing this?

Dwayne

    Hi Dwayne,

No Photoshop will not remain up to date via a desktop shortcut. There are two ways to keep it current. In the Adobe Desktop App click the gear wheel and select 'Check for updates' or in Photoshop under the Help menu click on 'Updates' They are virtually the same thing as the latter simply launches the desktop app.

If you have the desktop app launching every time the computer starts you can set it to keep the Creative Cloud Desktop up to date and automatically check for updates. When an update is available the open button says 'Update'. You can check your settings by clicking the gear wheel and selecting 'preferences'. You can see from my settings below I don't have the app running all the time as it really isn't necessary, providing you start it manually every few days to check on things. It might be an idea to check your Creative Cloud version is 3.9.1.335 also

R-click your ACC icon and R-click Adobe Creative Cloud  select properties and check "Run as administrator"

To be honest, I did not check the control panel to see if it was "un-installed"

When selecting the install from the desktop app it went through the entire installation process and I assumed it had been uninstalled.

So far today, I have not experienced this issue.

I will try the suggestions above when it does, question, will Photoshop remain up to date using a desktop shortcut to the .exe vs using the Adobe CC desktop app.

    Hi Dave

    I use Windows 10 64 bit.

The odd thing is that there is no error message.  It simply drops from the list of installed applications and instead of the open button being available to launch the application it is marked as Install.

So are we saying Photoshop is somehow being uninstalled or simply that the button in the desktop app is saying 'install' ?

What happens if you go to

    'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017/photoshop.exe'

press the right mouse button and drag the exe to the desktop to create a shortcut? Will Photoshop launch from the shortcut? Alternatively if you right click photoshop.exe you can 'pin to Start' or 'pin to taskbar' will the program launch that way?

That definitely does not sound normal.

What messages are you getting that lead you to re-install? What operating system are you using CC on?
