Help getting edits to save

I’m having an issue and I’m hoping someone can help me.
1) edited color of photos in camera raw (inside photoshop). Clicked done.
2) did skin smoothing in camera raw (inside photoshop). Clicked done throughout (afraid of computer crashing because it has been and I’m just trying to get through this)
3. Opened photo into photoshop to do liquify. They look correct - but when I save them or export them as jpg my color changes save but with skin smoothing does not.
HELP PLEASE. What am I doing wrong?? I just want to save my work!

This would normally be done in one session in Camera Raw, and then opened into Photoshop and exported from there.

 

I always go to the root cause of problems, so my number one priority here would be to figure out why the machine crashes. In almost all cases, Photoshop crashing is caused by a GPU problem. For instance, many laptops have dual graphics, which is a known potential conflict. Crashing is a common symptom. If you post the full Help > System Info from Photoshop, we might see where the problem is.

Are you comparing like with like?  That mostly means viewing at 100% zoom ratio in Photoshop.

Are you saving to JPG at full resolution?  What are you viewing the JPGs with?

 

Not seeing the skin smoothing in the saved JPG sounds like a strange issue.  It's much more likely that you would see issues with colour, and that could be to do with colour spaces and monitor profiles.  We'll tag @D Fosse for a more informed opinion on that.

 

Is the document open as a single layer in Photoshop?  It can definitely happen that grouped layers and Smart Objects lose some of their qualities when flattened, and saving to JPG effectively flattens the document.  It is possible that the RAW image is automatically opening as Smart Oject from Camera RAW.

 

OK, I have just checked, (I don't use Photoshop so much for Photography) and the default appears to be to open as Object.

 

If you see an icon like this in the corner of the thumb Nail, then it's a Smart Object.

 

If this is what is happening in your situation then the workaround I use is to add a Copy Merged Layer to the top of the layer stack before saving. 

On a Mac that is: Select the top most layer (which must be turned on) and this shortcut Cmd Opt Shift E

Could you share a few more details about the issue you're seeing, like which version of Photoshop you're using? It would also be super helpful to see a before-and-after of your photo with the full Photoshop window visible, one showing how it’s supposed to look, and one showing how it looks after exporting.
