My 2012 MBPR with an i7, 256gb SSD and 8 gigs of ram suffers from the known gpu issue of mbp’s from that era as well as random battery shutdowns. it is out of warranty and out of that program to fix the gpu which expired in dec 31. As such I’m looking at my options..needs: edit 1080p H264, 4k (in the future) without hookup, able to color grade with at least one adjustment layer without gpu glitching.Budget: ideally for a laptop I would like to be around $1000 but honestly I’ve seen some decent specced gaming laptops on eBay used for $600-800. I’m not opposed to a desktop in the future but I’m really wanting a laptop.Any mid-low budget recommendations? At this point it seems from hat I’ve read that the apple machines aren’t cutting it with premiere anymore. My experience seems to match that. Even with the 5-20 minute films/videos I make the performance is laggy and color grading performance is terrible.Thoughts?
Hi all,Please don't point me to the Adobe page for minimum system requirements. I'm not looking for a computer that will just minimally run the software. I want performance to be reasonably acceptable.I bought a laptop about three years ago, and while I'm sure you're thinking that 3 years is a long time, it doesn't seem (from my perhaps non-techie view) that specs have gotten a lot better since then. I have 16 GB RAM and an Intel i7 processor, and the top laptops nowadays still come with 16 GB of RAM and an i7.However, the Adobe Creative Cloud software products (Lightroom Photoshop CC) have started to get slower on my computer and I don't know if it's because my hardware is insufficient, or some other reason. I've used some "cleaner" software like Revo uninstaller to get rid of junk, so I think the computer is relatively clean.I'm starting to do more video work, but before I buy Premiere, I would like real-world opinions on whether I need a new laptop or n
Using Premiere (and Audition) CC 2018 on macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 (Mac Pro 5,1 and MacBook Pro). Curious what current hardware solutions people are using to monitor and mix surround and multi-channel audio? Looking for USB 2 or USB 3 solutions (not Thunderbolt) that would allow mapping to each speaker for 5.1 or 7.1 setups. Searching through forums and only finding old posts referencing fairly outdated and unavailable hardware. Unfortunately, HDMI embedded audio out solutions will not work and would like to avoid Toslink S/PDIF through a receiver.

Hello!I am putting together the specifications of a new computer for running Adobe software, primarily Premiere Pro and After Effects. I'm trying to put together a well-balanced, stable machine for editing 1080HD H264 videos, while having the option to work with 4K in limited amounts if needed down the road.Basically, I'm looking for something solid that will be able to edit multi-layered 1080 projects with some effects added without dropping frames, but I don't want to go overboard on a machine that offers way more power than I intend to use. Does this build look like a nice balance? Let me know what you think!Intel Core i7 i7-8700KASUS TUF Z370-PLUS GAMING Desktop MotherboardCorsair RMx Series RM750x - 750 Watt 80 PLUS Gold Certified Fully Modular PSUCorsair Hydro Series H60 High Performance Liquid CPU CoolerCorsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz (PC4-19200) C14 Memory KitEVGA GeForce GTX 1060 Graphic Card - 1.51 GHz Core - 1.71 GHz Boost Clock - 6 GB GDDR5Samsung 850
I received an Acer Swift 3 with an i5 processer and 8gb of RAM at Christmas. While editing in Premiere, the preview is lagging quite a bit and I have tried to make small animations in After Effects and it was projecting that it would take four hours to render about a 10 second clip. I'm considering returning the Acer to get a laptop that can handle Adobe Premiere. I am currently looking at a Dell New Inspiron 15 5000 with an i7 processor and 16gb of Ram. The Dell Inspiron is about $800 and that's the most I can spend. Is there anything else within that price range that would work better? Thanks for any input!
Hi Everyone.I'm sure this topic gets beat to death so I apologize in advance for re-hashing this stuff but I'm just looking for a little guidance here.My goal is to decrease export times and increase general performance in read/writes across multiple drives. From the little bit of reading I've done here I'm starting to realize that premiere might just be one of the most complicated programs I've had to deal with to get 'right' in terms of utilizing multiple hard drives to increase performance. Please understand we are on a budget. For now I will say that we are stuck with the hardware we have unless the financial situation changes at which point I can build a dedicated editing computer. Until then......Processor: Intel i7 920 2.4GHZ 4 core.mobo: MSI X58-M The north bridge of the chipset is running an Intel ICH10 controller for the drives.Ram : 6 banks which hold 3 dimms of 2GB 1333mhz a
Hi everyone,I've been searching through this forum for a few days now and I realize that this kind of thread pops up very often, so... sorry ! Nevertheless, since I have never used Premiere Pro and am new to video editing, I'd like to ask people who actually know all that stuff if one of those 2 laptops would be able to edit UHD footage (25p @ 100mbps) from my Panasonic G7 :1. I realize a desktop PC would do a much better job for the same price tag, but
how much memory must my pc have to use properly Adobe premiere pro? Other technical demands?
I have a Igear KVM switch allowing me to use 2 Pcs for video and photo editing. It was working fine until I bought a new Microsoft Classic IntelliMouse. I was looking for improved resolution over my 10 year old mouse. The cursor moves but it can go horizontally only. When I reinstall the old generic Dell mouse it works fine.
Hello!I have bought NVIDIA 1080ti card, but in the Adobe support told be, that there is bug (can't suport GPU acceleration during decoding) in current Adobe Premiere Pro + current NVIDIA drivers. This bug will be fixed in the next NVIDIA drivers and next Adobe Premiere release, which will come near to the Christmas holidays. Can anybody recommend me AMD Radeon card, which will be enough to work with 4K 60fps HEVC video editing (from GOPRO HERO 6)?
I building a new computer I7-8700K With 32GB ram.I have a Msi GTX770 GPU card. Will it help to get at GTX 1060 6GB card?Using for 4K from Sony A6500, Sony A7RIII and Gopro Hero 5 Black.
Hi. I'm considering to buy a second hand Macbook Pro with an nVidia 650 with 1 GB (I think actual prizes on new Macbooks are overvarrated considering performance), but I'm not getting clear information if it's possible to make this card running Mercury Playback with this version of Premiere Pro. I apologize if this has been answered, I've taken a look but I couldn't find.Another thing: if someone has had the option to test both: AMD or nVidia with Premiere Pro 2017?Thanks.
I'm thinking about getting a new mac mini. I have an old imac. I have CS6 (photoshop and indesign) and would like to use that with the new mac mini. Will CS6 work with the new high sierra operating system?
I'm aware that what matters most to After Effects is memory and CPUI want to know what the maximum computer configuration I could buy to make fast renderings. Dual CPU or Single? A lot of cores or less? What kind of computer do movie studios use with Ae?
Hello everyone, I have a question in regard to CPU utilization when it comes to exporting videos from Premiere Pro CC 2018 and Media Encoder CC 2018. Up until two days ago I was using a computer with an Intel I7-6700K CPU (4 Core 8 Threads), 16 GB of DDR4-2400 RAM, and a GTX 1080Ti. When exporting from Premiere Pro CC 2018 or Media Encoder CC 2018 I would check Windows 10 Task Manager and could confirm that the encoding process was using around 95 percent of all CPU resources. This being the case I knew that basically my current setup was giving it all to get that file or files encoded in the least amount of time possible. Fast forward to yesterday and I built a brand new desktop PC with a Ryzen 7 1800X (8 Core 16 Threads), 16 GB of DDR4-2400 RAM, and a GTX 1080Ti. Keep in mind this is a completely new desktop with all software freshly installed. After getting all software and drivers installed and setting al
Which is better for 4K 24-bit editing? Windows with i9-7960X (2,8Ghz) or iMac with i5 (3,4Ghz). We are looking the best comfort solution for us.
Hi guys,i would like to buy a new MacBook (available in 1,2 GHz with m3, 1,3 GHz with i5, or 1,4 GHz with i7). BUT, are the Adobe Suite programs running on those kinds of MacBook????I do the main work on my iMac at home. But for little corrections on travel i would like to have a MacBook with me.Please let me know.Thank you
Looking for advice on hard drive configuration for a 2016 15" Macbook Pro Touchbar using a Blackmagic Design hard drive bay. Daily livestream podcast media work will consist of photoshop, after effects and final cut pro. The video of the livestream will be managed and switched by a Roland VR4HD so the mac won't be doing any of the encoding.I have (4) available drive bays that are Thunderbolt 2 (i'll have to get a usb-c to thunderbolt adapter to connect to this bay).I've read the generic guidelines post on drives .. I guess i'm looking for reinforcement on what I'm thinking.Macbooks internal drive (os/applications/livestream application)drive bay 1 - 1TB ssd (media/projects)drive bay 2 - 256 ssd (pagefile/media cache)drive bay 3 - 256 ssd (preview/export)drive bay 4 - 1TB ssd (active backup)via USB - 4TB (inactive backup)How would you guys set this up? If I increase the 256 drives to 500 for pagefile/cache and preview/export .. will that increase performance?
Hello Premiere CC user. I have a question about the new iMacPro. For years, I have been working with the MacPro (Maximum Performance), but at the latest when I work with Red Giant or Sapphire PlugIns, the calculator gets very slow. Do you have a tip for me, which configuration makes the most sense especially for the Premiere CC use? For 4 months I mostly work with footage from the RED 8K. For a feedback I would be very grateful. Best regards - Klemens
System Specs:Intel i7-2600k 3.4 GHzNvidia GTX 760 2GB SLI (2 cards both 2GB)16 GB RamI am exporting a 9 min 46 sec project, footage originally 4k, in 1080p H.264, 24 fps, VBR Pass 1, through adobe media encoder. Originally, thinking that it would be faster to do so, I set my renderer to CUDA, therefore using my GPUs to "accelerate" the rendering process. It was predicted to take about 6 hours to render. I stopped it and switched to Software Only and the render time is so much shorter. Knowing this, I am wondering if SLIs are compatible with CUDA rendering in premiere and/or adobe media encoder. Or are my GPUs bottle-necking the rendering process? Or both? [Moderator note: moved to best forum]
I’m finishing my bachelor in animation this coming term, and have only been using the computers available at our uni’s media department up to now. When it comes to video related work I am mostly interested in working on short films and music videos. Maybe some freelance work in the future. I work with stop motion and 2d animation. The programs I use are TV Paint for 2d animation, and After effects for animation and post production and of course premiere. I don't really work on Maya right now, but might upgrade the computer to do so in the future. I also want to be able to work on live action footage. Keep in mind that I’m not the biggest special effects nerd when it comes to live action though. I like to play around with different mediums and platforms, and play around visually. After effects and premiere will be both used for personal artistic projects and probably some small freelance work from time to time. When I graduate I need a personal workspace that runs smoothly and enables
I'm considering purchasing a laptop to primarily edit video from my Fujifilm X Series cameras and Phantom 4 drone. I will also be performing quite a bit of photo editing. Hi there,I have two system builds below (assembled with pcpartpicker).I would like to build a new 4K editing system before the end of the year. I would like to edit 4K (delivery will more often be in HD), use Neat Video noise removal, grade with Lumetri Color and MB Looks in Premiere Pro CC. I would also like to do chroma keying, motion graphics, and light 3D work (extruded text, Element 3D) in After Effects.Ideally, my budget is $4,000 but would be nice to have some left over.
