Unable to export photo on Lightroom version 6.5 desktop

For some reason I am unable to export photos on Lightroom version 6.5 on my mac desktop.

I am able to export photos from my ipad and iphone lightroom mobile without issues. Its just my mac desktop version that is having issues.

The error message I get when I try to export using the usual export button on the top right is

"file not supported or currupted"

Do you get the same message even if you export using the web version of Lightroom?
If the same message appears, the data you are uploading may be corrupted.

Actually the export function of the Lightroom web version works, as does the Lightroom ipad and iphone mobile version. Its really just the Mac desktop version which gives me this message. Perhaps I should try deleting and reinstalling the Mac desktop version?

Delete the cache from the preferences.
Also try reinstalling Lightroom.
