I can confirm that the plug-in is working perfectly on Mac (InDesign 2025, Sonoma 14.6 here). After installing the plugin, and following the 'security quarantine' suggestions, I'm using the following command in a script (Yes, just a one liner!): app.matchScrollZoomAllLayout(); Running the script results in every single document matching the page, location and zoom in a pixel perfect manner. Thank you so much 琥珀 猫太郎, this is absolutely a solution to the issue that I opened this thread with, and will be very, very helpful whenever I work on multiple, similar documents (which is often!).

Hi 琥珀さん, I don't really understand the level of detail here or what you have done, but I'd love to see the outcome if you manage to turn it into something scriptable that you can share. I looked into it on AI and it seems that perhaps you're writing a plugin that extends what InDesign can do. Given what others have said about InDesign not having the ability to deliver the type of 'viewport' specifics I stated in my initial post, your attempting this is a very exciting prospect. I'd love to hear more if you progress with this. Thanks again!

Is there any way, when you have multiple documents open, to 'sync' the view (page, zoom level, scroll bar position) across every doc? Has anyone come across a script that can do this, or know of some other way to do it? If I could 'retrieve' the horizontal and vertical scroll bar positions somehow I could probably write a keyboard maestro macro that would do it.

EDIT: Well sometimes you have to post, after many hours of frustration, only to find the answer a few seconds later, right? I couldn't figure out how to delete the post, but I've just dicovered this is a symptom of VIEW > ENABLE/DISABLE NEW ACROBAT. I really don't like 'New Acrobat' and it's requirement to have an extra click just to show you the available tools. Still, we're not all the same are we! ... On my laptop the comments tool bar looks like this, which is great and shows all the tools in one go to be clicked without subselecting: On my imac I have this: I can't for the life of me find how to change the toolbars from a vertical floating window to the top of the app.

I've found some info on how to do this, but don't know the lowdown on whether it's 'safe' to do so on minor versions. Seems I was using the wrong search terms. Anyway, strangely, I couldn't delete this post, or I probably would have. If the 'rules' around 'downgrading/reverting' to previous minor versions are succinct and understandable, please elt me know. For the moment I'm assuming that the fact that you can easily (all be it in a not terribly easy to find location) restore to a previous version, means it won't cause horrifying results.

This is one of those "surely other people need to do this", and "surely InDesign can do this" but "I have no idea what keywords to hit google with to get an answer" type things! I'm working on a book that has a digitally downloadable version of exactly the same document but with six additional pages. I looked into Alternative Layout and Liquid Layout and those tools seem to be about different page sizes and orientations rather than a book with additional pages in some scenarios. I also tried 'hide spread', but that seems to be to only make editing the book easier and didn't obey a rebuild of the Table of Contents to _not_ show the hidden pages (so I didn't even try to create a PDF to see if hidden pages are output, I suspect they are). How would you go about producing a book which has two versions, identical except for one has six extra pages and the necessary Table of Contents and page number adjustments to make it happen? Maintaining two different documents isn't appealing, though it might be what I have to do in the even there are no better solutions.

Is there a way to have all grep-styles that have been applied by paragraph styles, converted to manually applied styling? This is simply to aid in text exporting, as grep styles don't appear to be honoured in any kind of copy/paste, or otherwise automated export to rich text. Example: copy some text which has been styled by GREP to contain italics, paste into Mac Text Edit, the styles are gone. Any text in the source text that was manually styled transfers correctly. My aim would be to make these changes, carry out my text exports, then close the file without saving (I don't need to keep the converted styles).

Hi, yes In the same inDesign and outputted PDF are numerous frames working with JPG/PNG. Exactly the same frame types but with any vector (AI, EPS, SVG) do not show alt-text in outputted PDF, right alongside frames that do with JPG etc.

Hi Uwe Is this a bug then? No-one has offered an explanation for why this behaviour is correct, and every seems to assume that placed vector graphics should show alt-text when exported as PDF (provided all the correct export conditions have been set of course). How do I go about checking whether this is already know, or bring it to the attention of those that need to know, in the right way?

@Robert at ID-Tasker No alt-text here on PDFs placed as file in InDesign when exported as PDF (even though jpg alt-text etc is always honoured. Which version are you using Robert. I'm on 2025

That's a good hack for getting around this (trans pixel). I guess you'd have to artifact the original image just in case. It's sounding like this is an omission or bug, as no-one has said anything like "Correct, InDesign specifically doesn't and won't ever do this becuase [some reasong that makes sense that I hadn't thought of]". I think Robert has now said that he isn't able to show alt tags for (for example) AI, now, or is there a workaround which doesn't involve a hack? (with no disrespect to hacks!).

I think I followed this correctly. Place vector into frame. Copy or Cut, select another frame, Paste Into. This creates a similar looking graphic, but after applying alt-text to the frame, doesn't create it as alt-text again as far as i can tell. Very creative thinking though! Am I thinking about this right? In the resulting PDF, alt-text is what is shown when you mouseover an image and text appears in a yellow-background popup. This doesn't happen with vector in anything I've tried so far. Of course, I'm wondering now if the problem could be acrobat. InDesign might be exporting it ok.

Hi Robert, I think you have to do this anyway, I can't add the alt-text to the context of the frame, only to the frame. All the successful alt-text outputted to PDF has been added to/via the frame.

Thanks for your input Willi. I realise that I could convert these things into JPG or try PDF/X-4 alternatives as you suggest, but that's not my point. Why is it that vector image formats don't display Alt text in PDF after exporting like JPG and PNG do? I'm thinking of vector based iamges as 'images', I know they're not photographic, but if vectors are used for illustrations of any kind I would have thought that the ability to use alt text with them was good for accessibility etc. If there isn't a way to make vector images show alt text (if it's not a new bug, or it's like this by design for some reason I haven't understood) it would be handy to know why InDesign doesn't do this so that I can explain to clients who give me tons of EPS/SVG and ask for accessible PDFs why I had to spend chargeable hours converting all their files. So, why no alt-text exported with vectors? Is it broken? Did it ever work?

I've been able to get alt text to display in PDF for JPG/PNG using 'Object' > 'Object Export Options' > 'Alt Text Source' > 'Custom', but any vector images (AI, SVG, EPS) in the same document doesn't show the alt text in the resulting PDF.
Is this normal?

Is there an easy way to omit a paragraph style (or styles) from search text/GREP? I have many paragraph styles, but one contains many valid instances (for that particular content) of something (double spaces) of something I otherwise want to eradicate.

I'd like to be able to run a series of find/changes in a single hit, instead of navigating through the menus and firing them off one at a time. Please, no warnings about how it's unwise to do this, I get all that – please assume adequate testing! I used to use this, but it hasn't been updated to be compatible with the latest versions. I'm trying to match the following in a couple of grep styles in the same, single paragraph style: Format: Artist Songname (date) Lots more text that needs to be unstyled like the date above. text + endash + text (date) text Example: Bob Dylan I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Have Never Met) (1964) I can't understand She let go of my hand And left me here facing the wall I'm trying to style the 'singer' name with this (seems to be working fine): (?s).*~> and the song title with this (but I don't think it's right): (?s)(?<=~>).*(?<=\() How do I capture the song title, which could contain parentheses, but not the parenthesised date? I also keep accidentally capturing the opening parenthesis of the date in my positive look ahead. I was thinking along the lines of a positive lookahead that includes \([0-9]{,4}\) but it doesn't seem to work. Any and all help appreciated!
