What happens if you do the move using your operating system and then re-connect inside of LrC following these instructions? Is that faster? It should be.   At that link, the suggestion is to first COPY (not move) the photos in your operating system (scroll down to "Part 2 — Updating Folder Location"), re-connect, and then once everything looks correct inside of LrC, then use your operating system to delete the photos at their original location. Maybe I don't understand why the virtual copies have to be removed.   I think that the AnyFilter plugin removes a step or two from the workflow. Just crop to whatever size is needed and then use a filter (which can saved for future use after you first create it) to find the virtual copies with the desired aspect ratio. Not exactly what you asked for, but maybe a better workflow: use the AnyFilter plugin from John R Ellis to find photos with a specified aspect ratio (for example, all photos with a 1.5 aspect ratio). Then no need to move a virtual copy into a collection for that specific aspect ratio, just set up a filter for the various sizes of interest. The folder/file list in LRC shows the same folders (and subfolders) on both devices--nothing is missing. BUT, the number of photos is not the same. The total is about 2% less on the newer one, though some folders have more files and some fewer (it's not consistently one way or the other). Also, some carat triangles to the left of the folder names are solid (ok) but some are grayed (or pixilated). The grayed ones do not seem to indicate subfolders. This does not appear to affect the behavior of the contents or display of those folders.   Show us screen captures. Please use the Insert Photos icon to include your screen captures in your reply.  Do not attach files. And I would avoid synchronizing folders at this time, until we have a good understanding of what is happening on your computer. Synchronize folders could make the problem worse. ... View more

However, photos are stored on your hard dısk(s) or SSDs wherever you put them, or wherever you told Lightroom Classic to put them.
