Hi, I would suggest that the font that is active in the text frame that you are pasting into does not support the characters that you are using. Hi Bill, Make a single line which appears as you would like, then select it and go to Window>Styles>Object Styles and from the palette menu choose New Object Style. The values that you see filled in will be taken from your selected line. Under the Basic Attributes of the New Object Style panel you'll see that most have ticks and some will have lines. Untick most of these - you will probably only need the Stroke and Stroke & Corner Options ones. At the bottom of the New Object Style palette check both Preview and Apply Style to Selection. I'm glad that you got it sorted out for this document. For future projects though, save your document as an Indesign template (.indt). Each time you open a template it will open as an untitled document which you can use. That way, you don't experience any errors which compound as a document is re-used over time. Hi Morty, There are - but you have to be a bit careful. If you have a text frame selected with the selection tool, then you can double-click the content in the frame and your cursor will change to the type tool - that's easy. On the other hand, if you have the type tool selected and you are in a frame, make sure that you click out of the frame first and then you can type "v" to change to the selection tool (the black arrow) or "a" to change to the direct selection tool (white arrow). The reason that you have to be careful is that if you don't click out of the frame first then you could end up with a stray "v" or "a" (or "w" if you're using the shortcut to change to preview mode) in your text. Hi Morty, Well - I wouldn't say that it's no good, and if you're confident that you won't want to change the appearance of the running head, then you should be fine. It's just that I've seen many occasions on these forums where people have asked how they can change the style of something that has been styled manually, ie. without using a paragraph style. It can happen for many reasons, but more commonly I suppose when you're dealing with a client rather than doing the whole thing yourself. But if the point is that it's always best to use paragraph and character styles wherever you can, because it's very quick to do and it's a good habit to get into because it can save such a lot of time later down the track if things have to change. Also, I would add to part 3 of Barb's excellent list - because you are overriding the running head frame on every page, you should use a paragraph style when you format that text. Don't forget that you don't have to select the whole paragraph to apply a paragraph style. If you just click to the right of the image, you will be in the right place to apply the style. Hi, Selecting bleed on your output settings is correct, but Indesign won't generate the bleed for you. You have to make sure that you show the bleed area in your document (ie make sure you're not in preview mode). The bleed area shows as a red line outside the boundary of your page, and your image must be large enough to fill that area. Sorry - just noticed that you don't have crop marks selected in your output dialog. The marks that you see are actually the bleed marks which are not necessary.
