See attached. Our engineers want the six triangles (3 down, 3 across) to follow the bend of the overall product, like the small circles do. I've tried skewing, envelope warping (art and top object--a duplicate of the grey product), and puppet warp, but even though I used Pathfinder to Unite first, I can't seem to find a way to make the entire object follow the curve WITHOUT distorting the individual triangles themselves. Any ideas? I thought their original request was to replace EACH small circle with a small triangle and said sure--now I find they want these six big triangles instead...

Wow, your script sounds amazing! (Frankly, so do your overall skills.) Well, we're on Macs. 😞 I'll elaborate just in case you or someone else can still help. I should have mentioned that initially; my bad. (Friday-before-a-holiday brain.) Ideally we'd link to high-res our server, but when we try that with our high-res it really bogs down--hence the step of copying them to our desktop. If your script is able to search folders on our smb network, locate high-res in subfolders and then copy them down to a DESKTOP FOLDER instead of the same location as the low-res, that would be cool. That's what we're doing manually now, and it's time-consuming and prone to error--all just to create an X-4 for printing. I should mention that we're on Mac Ventura, Adobe InDesign 2023, and our image are on a smb network managed by IT. mentioning this because we've already found we can't seem to use Spotlight to search since we upgraded to Ventura. Again, a Mac thing. Thanks for responding.

I might be asking for the moon... To avoid bogging down while working. we have documents linked to low-res JPGs on our smb network. When it comes time to print, we make a temporary copy of the document and relink to high-res PSDs in order to make a print PDF. The "Relink to Folder > Match Filename but this Extension" is perfect except... most of our thousands of high-res images are in individual subfolders. Right now our individual users search for and copy high-res images (might be 60+ for one document) temporarily to a single folder on their desktops and relink to that folder with the "extensions" option on... Ugh. I found a cool script on YouTube to search subfolders, but does anyone know of a script to both relink to images with different extensions AND search subfolders? Thanks.

OK, I feel like I'm losing it. I'm editing a document that has anchored objects. It's been a while since I've done this. I am adding an anchored element. It's not pushing the existing text below it down, as I would expect. See screen captures. #1 shows how the new anchored object (just an orange box) doesn't push down the Step 11 text. Also shows the anchor settings. #2 shows the paragraph setting/window on the right, in case that helps. #3 shows an existing anchored object (already in the document) that is working as expected--and the inline anchor settings. Step #2 in this screen capture is below the anchored element, not overlapping. #4 shows the paragraph setting/window for the one that is working. What am I doing wrong with the first one that the orange box is overlapping the text/paragraphs below? I don't remember running into this before! Using InDesign 2023 (18.5) on Mac OS Ventura 13.6.5.

Futura PT is actually from the Adobe online font library... so I would hope it isn't corrupt for faulty. Poor design, perhaps... The weight/face chosen does not change the alignment.

Thank you, I did poke around the original font, but it was actually the bullet already being used, and the "dot" choices were too small. Using a different font came closer and required less tweaking--just the size. All good! Learned something. Thanks so much!

Spot on. I found a bullet in an Avenir font that moved to the left but was a bit too big. I had to create a character style to size it down--couldn't find any other way? Needing to create a character style in order to make it smaller seems like a lot of hassle, BUT I have a visual solution that will pass. Thanks!

Thanks, James Gifford. It's actually all one text box... If I understand what you mean by "selecting another bullet"... if I choose an Asterisk it does align to the left. So it must be a characteristic of the bullet itself?

See attached, where the red arrow is pointing at a gap. I simply cannot get these bullets to align with the left side of the text box. Using Adobe Futura PT from the online collection, in Adobe InDesign 2023 on Mac OS. No paragraph style in use as this is a simple one-page document. Only some fonts seem to do this, but the end customer wants me to "fix this" and I can't change fonts. Thanks.

We edit documents coming from many customers and projects, and the "favorites" vary nearly every time we open a document to make changes. What I'd really like to do is tuck away those we never use--put them out of immediate sight in the Character and Find Font palettes, if not out of system. Examples are all the Notos, STYX, and asian fonts. The long list seems especially cumbersome in Find Font, as the order in which substitutes are presented is often mysterious to me and I tend to initially slide past the font I'm looking for. I'm guessing what seems simple to our eyes may be more difficult on the Adobe programming side, but I'll still echo this request.

See attached. The grey is from a Photoshop image after a lot of tweaking. I need to place this pattern on a display that is much wider. That requires the pattern to repeat further along the horizontal access than this image does (e.g. further to the right). So I decided to try and reproduce it in a vector format in order to step/repeat... but now that I've drawn and duped the base image to create one "column", I can't figure out how to both duplicate it over and over AND apply the appropriate perspective for each subsequent column/row to follow the existing pattern--and extend it beyond to the right. Any ideas? Illustrator 27.8.1 on Mac OS.

Thanks. To clarify: The existing logo used as "seed" is CMYK. Assuming I retain a CMYK version of the new logo for print use (we supply X-4 PDFs), is it enough to change the color mode to RGB before I create an .svg file for her web use? (And explaining that "equivalent" colors in various color systems may not "match"?) (Liked your comment about "idiot proof".... although to be fair, she's no idiot; she's just depending on ME not to be...)

Hi Bobby Henderson. I agree about not using Hex colors for printing. We always design in CMYK. Is there a way to know if a CMYK color will change drastically if used digitally? Should I change color modes to RGB before giving her a file for web use?

I'm in an art department in a manufacturing company. We maintain a collection/catalog of images we use for print brochures, ads, banners, etc. We're not really involved in web development. But we frequently get requests from other areas for images, along with statements such as: 1) "I would like this logo to match our existing logo. Green color (#74be1f). png, svg, jpg, ai." (My note: The existing Illustrator logo in our catalog is 61c, 0m, 100y, 0k, and Document Color Mode = CMYK.) 2) "This will be used in print and digital. May be used on tradeshow banners as well. Can you suggest a size, please." My way out of this is to explain that I can provide them with an .ai file (or .svg) that they can use at any size, but if they want .jpg or .png, to only use it at the actual size. BUT then my question is: If I just provide them with files in CMYK color mode, am I risking giving them something that might drastically change color if used digitally? I really don't want to start populating our collection with various versions using various color modes... Thanks.

This happened twice again, while I was working in Photoshop and Illustrator, and I simply cannot pinpoint the trigger. It seems random. The only way to make it go away was a reboot. I can't make it happen on-demand for troubleshooting. I'll consider contacting the tech support team next time, if it doesn't occur when I'm on a deadline, as usually happens...!

This happened again, this time in InDesign. I had just gone to the CC app to LOOK at something to compare with something a teammate was seeing. (Just looking.) Then when I got back into InDesign the hand tool would not reappear when the spacebar is pressed. I had Excel, Teams and Outlook running, plus Chrome, and quit each of those without improvement. I finally quit and restarted InDesign. Nope. Also tried Photoshop and Illustrator. Broken in those also. I looked at the Activity Monitor and saw quite a few Adobe entries but wasn't sure I should mess with that so I went with my usual workaround: Reboot. Started InDesign, all is well. Teams starts automatically, so I started Chrome, Outlook and Excel one by one in that order. All is still OK. I clicked on the CC app again, but that didn't cause the issue either. A mystery.

Thanks, Anshul Saini. It actually happened most recently in Photoshop (2022). (I realize now this is an Illustrator forum, sorry, I saw fernandam88771201’s mention of Photoshop also so I pursued this thread.) So I started in Safe Mode (BTW, I have a silicon M1 Mac). Started the following programs, testing the spacebar-hand after each one: Photoshop, Illustrator. Then Chrome, FileMaker, Connect Fonts, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, TeamViewer, even the Calculator, Text Edit, Terminal and QuickTime player, and finally InDesign. Kept them all running while I worked a while in Photoshop... bopped in and out of one of the other programs now and then... the issue never occurred. Tried checking and unchecking Accessibility “Enable Full Keyboard Access” without impact. (Also, in System Preferences, Sleep is disabled.) Of course a problem happens until you’re actively watching for it… 😛 I guess the only thing I can do when it occurs is to TRY to remember what other program might have JUST been using before that, and what I was doing.

Thank you. I am using Monterey 12.6.2 and Illustrator 26.5.2 (not going up to 27 yet as our graphics service provider has instructed us to wait). I haven't tried Safe Mode because the issue disappears for a while after a reboot (until it sporadically reappears, forcing me to reboot), so rebooting into Safe Mode is rather moot...

I did read the entire thread. In addition to combing through Chrome, putting it to sleep, preferences reset, etc, plus I tried changing my workspace/keyboard shortcuts. The problem continues to occur suddenly and sporadically even with no other programs running, which makes it difficult to pinpoint. As noted the only solution I've found so far is to reboot with fingers crossed.

PITA! This began occurring daily after we upgraded to Adobe 2022 on Mac OS Monterey--even if only Photoshop is running. It may occur upon Photoshop startup, or suddenly occur later. The only "solution" I have found so far is to reboot with fingers crossed. I tried changing my workspace/keyboard shortcuts to see if that made a difference--nada.

Thank you, this is helpful! The providers of other programs I use (e.g. Extensis font manager) are very good about maintaining clear compatibility cross references, system requirements, etc. in an easy-to-find location. Based on other feedback, it seems I wasn't the only one wondering if for Adobe, I have to trust Wikipedia, or google until I find a third-party site. I do find articles on the Adobe site, like the one about Pantone Connect, warning me that certain releases will have certain changes, but not telling me Which One I Get if I download e.g. 26.5.2. (Now that I look, the https://indd.adobe.com/view/0bff348c-febc-4351-8a11-8101037228d9 link doesn't even list an Illustrator 26.5.2. It's offered on CC right now, though.) So just saying they could do a better job helping users understand which version has what.
