I was on a crunch and ended up with the bandaid solution above. I did figure out where to get the right driver and I got it downloaded and running. I've been since pulled away from Painter and have not been able to verify the driver update fixes that issue. No software conflicts here that I can see. Thanks for following up!

I'm gonna say no it's not an outdated driver issue. At least it very much appears to not be that. Please see the attached screen shot. Is there some hidden driver update utility, or driver specifically for Painter, that I don't know about? Agreed! Let's all be polite. YES I think there's a big need to fuss over Adobe's horrible customer service and software releases. They quite often pump out buggy releases and leave their user base in the wind with respect to issues. So I think it's real important to make a stink about that until that issue is addressed.

Sweet! Adobe adds a look everytime I reload this page. Good god I hate Adobe's customer service soooo much. I realy hope the Allegorithmic guys are in here and don't get too brainwashed by Adobe's horrible customer service practices... I'm going to take some initiative and reload this page a few dozen times to get some looks on this issue. Hey btw, did a little trouble shooting on my own and have determined that Painter doesn't crash when running on my primary monitor. It only crashes when I drag it over to my Cintiq. As a stop gap to get my deliverable out I'll use my giant Cintiq as a regular wacom tablet to paint away in Painter. So this issue seems like a compatiblity bug between Painter/WacomDrivers/Nvidia driver? Any ideas on how I can fix it and get back to painting in Painter with my Cintiq?

Hello I'm trying to figure out why my copy of painter constantly locks up and crashes. I'm using 7.2.2 My machine is a 24core AMD Rysen, with 250gb ram, and an RTX3090 with studio driver 462.59 installed. This crash typically happens on my second monitor which is a Cintiq 27HDT. I need to paint on my asset in Substance and after I get into that, about 2-5min in, Painter locks up.

I'd agree with your sentiment if it wasn't for the fact that Adobe can't even get a basic UI function like ZOOM to be stable. Hey all those other apps can! It's laughable that Adobe can't / won't get a handle on this. I'm not debating platforms but pick any other 2d image editor or painting app and said developer manages their code well enough to maintain basic bug free UI functionality.

Who will fix scubby zoom so we can fluidly zoom in on our psds? I haven't checked out the latest version of PS, because they lost my trust with the last buggy release, BUT the version I'm using 21.2.5 still looses scrubby zoom if I do so much as re-size an image. I then have to save, kill the app and restart it. It's laughable that Adobe can't get this right. So yeah, somebody please fix it!! I've pinged customer service and submitted bugs and feature requests and Adobe doesn't care. I also like u/Jealous, use a powerful computer that's primarly for digital art (and realtime 3d) and can see that his statement about PS's piss poor performance doesn't have anything to do with realtime 3d. And yea, I think this is a great place to vent about this kind of thing. If enough users stop using their products and switch to better alternatives like Procreate, or Afinity Designer then Adobe might actually start shipping releases that work - and more importantly fixing basic UI functions like a reliable fluid (aka scubby) zoom.

I'm happy to send in feedback but my experience with feedback to 20billion dollar corporations; it falls on deaf ears. Case in point was when I was on the phone with Adobe customer service about my issues, (similar to what Davo here stated below), the Adobe rep tried to pass the buck and blame Nvidia. If we can't even get a live person to acknowledge and accept responsibility for their lousy release then I feel peppering the feedback forum is, imo, a waste of time.

This is the reason I started this thread. The official Adobe response on how to fix this is, wait for an update! it's Nvida's fault (it's not)! The actual fix is install an older version of PS. I'm on 21.2.4 atm and it's stable.

Sure. So Adobe should call it 'beta software'. Why label it as a legit release if it's so buggy? I can't tell you how thrilling it is to get two hours into working on a client project only to loose all the work because of a bug in the release. I don't want multiple copies of one piece of software installed on my machine. I want one stable copy. I pay for this and should get this. It shouldn't be a roll of the dice on the latest release, that they're calling legit, but in fact isn't stable and ready for production work. Autodesk suffers from the same desease of 'add features & pump out product' so they can make their quarterly sales revenue all at the expense of their current customers... Blender on the other hand knows how to do software releases, Adobe should take note.

I get an error that prevents this release of PS from saving files if the graphics processor is toggled on. Adobe is blaming this on the Nvidia studio driver I have installed for my RTX3090, however earlier versions of PS run fine with the graphics processor toggled on. So it's not an Nvidia problem. It's a shoddy release of PS.

I reverted to PS 21.2.4 and you know what, files open and save just fine with the graphics driver turned on. WOOHOO. Clear proof that this is Adobe's fault! They pumped out an untested release! Fire your QA and send 22.1.0 back to beta folks.

... do anything constructive to help me. Just got off the phone with Adobe Customer Support. The latest version of photoshop 22.1.0 (as of writing this) will not allow me to save my psd file. I get a pop up that says 'Couldn't save because of a program error'. ACS tells me this is because I have the graphics processor turned on in my preferences. We tested the issue by turning it off and my psd saves fine. So ACS tells me it's my graphics card driver! Which is totally up to date. I'm running a win10 RTX3090 with the studio driver. I'm calling BS on Adobe saying this is Nvida's fault as the graphics processor (toggled on) runs fine and my psd file is totally usable inside photoshop, but when going to save, it won't save. Photoshop won't save! This is a big deal folks. Basically if you build a new computer with the latest hardware and try to use Photoshop it won't work and rather then escalating the issue they're just passing the buck. I tried running PS without using the graphics processor and the app runs like garbage, no scubby zoom, no functioning zoom, garbage. Why is it so hard for Adobe to make zoom work reliably in PS? Can't Adobe developers download and run the latest graphics card drivers on all platforms before pumping out a PS release? You'd think a company worth 20bill could afford a decent QA department?

Hi Jonathan, Thank you. I am confused tho, I don't see the GPU performance option available on a Win10 install of indesign. I see that it's there in MacOS. I was asking why it's not there in Windows as it seems like a performance toggle that should enable scrubby zoom, just like there is one in photoshop... Please see my attached screen cap, maybe I'm missing something? Is it already enabled by default?

Hmm no. Unfortunatly that's not what its happen here. Alt key + drag the zoom tool, shows the -zoom icon and creates a rectangle that when releasing the mouse pops the view out to all pages. Closest thing I can get to what you suggest is holding down on alt and spinning the scroll wheel on my mouse... then I get a lovely stepped zoom in or out. It's almost a scrubby zoom, but it's not.

How is this not a top priority for the Indesignd dev team? I'm running 2xGTX1080s with a fast proc and plenty of ram, Win10. I open Indesign and can't smoothly zoom!?! And there's no GPU performance option in prefs. Come on Adobe! 50+ bucks a month and your apps can't even zoom! arrgh.
